Thanks for uploading. There were many parallels between mcGovern's campaign for presidency and Ron Paul's. Both addressed themselves to the desperation of the disenfranchised, both invited greater resistance within their own party than from without, both were embraced by the counterculture, and both were anti-war and lenient on drugs (possession thereof and not dealing). On balance McGovern got more media attention and support, but his bid was sabotaged just like Ron Paul's.
How cool to see many of the most famous people in history when they were young! I was born in 1972, so my memories of some of these people are of them much older. It's really cool to see people like Shirley when they were so young (younger than I am now) and to realize that they are just people too. Watching some of them (like John Lennon, Janis Joplin, and Jimi Hendrix), it is like they are young and alive again today. Thank God for modern technology!
@dprice017 Yeah, I've also re-discovered Dick Cavett. I used to think he was a bit lame but have realised that he's just a gentleman, quiet and respectful which I confused with indecisiveness.
I gotta ask--can anyone tell me when this episode was filmed or aired? It would at least help to understand what's being said in the context of when this was all taking place.
The parts 1 2 and 3 refer to the shows the Lennons were on, in chronological order. In part 2 the Lennons were not on again, but they showed footage from a previous episode. The /7 is the number of parts specific to that episode. Additionally, "John Lennon" refers to the episode in general, not that Lennon is shown in this clip. He appears later, though.

@TackyRackyComixNEO The Possession of Joel Delaney was released in 1972, so that can give us an idea.

I can't believe Warren Beatty and Shirley are brother and sister, but they are. I don't see even the smidgen of likeness there. Shirley was a beauty.
