The dancing was lovely and I could watch you all day but PLEASE STOP playing Couperin on the piano. Listening to Couperin on a piano is like listening to a politician: it's all lies and phony as f@ck!!
This is so cool! Benicia, CA Acadeca says hi! :D this video is awesome! we played it in class like the first week of school! Love to all Aca Decas! (hey check out our profile page if you want- theres a vid of our class singing the french national anthem :P)
Music is music, and you can do whatever the hell you want with it. This is what makes it fun and great, not being a purist who follows strict rules. Innovation brought rock, and all other genres of music.... Also, ACADEC!
Jeesus... You're sad... Why not a snoop dog video clip on a mozart piece? This is ridiculous! Its just some sort of a commercial approach to popularize classical music, and you just walked into the trap. At least, the strategy is working, but with idiots only.
Im just saying that we shouldnt be mixing everything, hip hop and classical music are two things apart. My english is not good enough to express exactly what I think, so maybe the word 'shake' is not the right one, but you must admit that different kind of musics have different kind of goals, and I just think the goal of the video is not coherent with the goal of classical music.
Your English is very good--I couldn't tell that you weren't a native speaker. I suppose it's a matter of taste. I think the film beautifully emphasises the rhythm of the piece.
Why not mix everything, if it is done in good taste. The dancer was obviously listening to the music he danced to, the 'air pianist' too and they let the music speak for itself, without any extraneous addition such as rythm machines or weird samplings.
Hip Hop is not my culture, but their work is at least very clean technically, and (for me) quite amusing.
Look at William Christie's Indes Galantes or Paladins to see really top-notch subversion of baroque music like Rameau would have liked

This is great. I really wonder how much creative some persons are.
Not only it is paradoxically beautiful to play piano on a baroque harpsichord piece (as tharaud says), but also it is paradoxically beautiful to produce such a clip with such a modern dance as the main concept.

Yes I do think so. Tharaud caught most things from this piece, his technique is great, but it lacks what the piano is unable to give: fluidity, depth and transparency of sound, resonance... Ornamentation is here reduced to ornaments, i.e. some sort of rococo decoration rather than their role in underlining expressiveness. Well, this is "historically interesting" as a good example of late XXth century music transcriptions. But why doesn't Tharaud play real piano music?
Excellent.
