I had me a girl, like cigarette smoke, she came and she went. Ooh, I, I slipped through his hands to a better man right under his chin. Oh, that woman told me to pray, but for all of her wandering ways, Oh, she could go! Go!
I had me a girl, …, Down, down on my knees and I'm begging her please …, Oh, that woman told me to pray, I saw Heaven every day! She could go! Go!
Ooh, I, I had me a boy, who wanted me down …, Ooh, he washed me as clean as a sinner could be, and showed me the light. Oh, that boy told me to pray, but for all of his spit-shining ways, Oh, he could go! Go!
Draw me a map that I can hold, lines that tell me where to go. My head is full of lonely harmony, questions no one's asking me: who's gonna take my hand show me the way? How long will I have to wait for someday? Well it's not strength I'm asking for, just having trouble finding more. I've gone as far as I can go trying to find somewhere that feels like home. One more sunset runs away, cause I battle yesterday. I'm still waiting. Won't someone wake me up open these eyes? Won't someone even try?
Look out, Ma! Look out, Pa! Look at that horizon! Something's out there kicking up dust, Storm's coming fast. Look out, sister! Look out, brother! Devil's gonna be rising! Something we've been waiting for, Home is here at last. Let's all sing, let's all dance, … , honey, Come on out to this old brown field, Watch them turn … Watch them turn … The wait is over, winds have changed, And I don't want ... to slow, We hope and pray for a single drop of rain, And I want storms coming through.
What was the deal with them getting confused over what the songs were for? I was there and I remember them saying the first was for a hunger documentary and the second was for the Hunger Games. After the second song, Joy said they realized that the second song was for the hunger documentary. So, were both songs for the hunger documentary?
