For example,say you trade in DiRT 2 and they give you $10 for it. But when you leave, the trow a $39.99($40) tag on it and put it on the shelf. 10+10+10+10=40=300% profit. And for the record,when someone wants DiRT 2,they'll convince them to get your used copy.
Gamestop can get away with their shady, questionable business practices and policies because they practically don't have any competition. I really regret never setting foot in a Gamecrazy store because I heard very positive things about that chain of game stores before they went out of business. It's a real shame there isn't another video game store franchise that even comes close to rivaling Gamestop. I shop at Gamestop but I've had some rather irritating experiences with them.

I've been a customer since GameStop took over Funcoland and starting this day, I am no longer going to GameStop ever again and no longer a customer anymore. Just go on eBay, Amazon, Game Buzz, Wall-Mart, Futureshop, Best Buy, etc. I went to EBgames/GameStop only ONCE and that was the first and last time I've ever gone. None of my friends or anyone I know even considers stepping foot into that store.

The truth is Gamestop doesn't check each game, gamestop kind of has a monopoly, but they only really cater to one sector of the market games made in the last 12 years. That are still supported by next gen systems. The issue I see with Gamestop is they don't test their games, a reasonable amount of games are being developed in the USA and some European companies. Traditionally it was Japan and Gamestop carries most of them.

Really, I think alot more people like Gamestop then dont like it. I've NEVER had an issue with any of the games or hardware I bought there. GameStop is not a monopoly because there are other game retailers: Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, K-mart, and perhaps most importantly, online retailers and purchasing directly from game publishers. I have gotten games that dont work as well, and my only thing i have problem with, with gamestop is the simple fact that they take away the old, they are only about the new just like Supermarkets like k mart wal mart and target, great that they get those promotions if ur a major fan, but really to wear by gamestop, it just plan stupid, i buy most my games 3rd party play and trade stores, and thrift stores simply because they are cheaper and ur still running the same chances

i agree with u gamestop is always ripping u off....i remeber one time since i sold my old copy of Mario Sunshine and about 2 years later i went to buy a copy since the game is so old i bought a copy of it and when i got home and put it in the Wii it didnt work so i cleaned it then it didnt work again so i tested it on my gamecube and guess what gamestop ripped me off! :D....it sucks....

I wish I have a local game store in Santa Clara. I've been a customer since GameStop took over Funcoland and starting this day, I am no longer going to GameStop ever again and no longer a customer anymore. I rather drive all the way to Stockton to the Stockton V.G.X. than going to Gamestop. GameStop sucks, they're nuttin' but liars, cheaters and ripoffs.

They compete with walmart, and as long as they have to compete with walmart, they'll still sell games at a reasonable price. I don't see the issue.

Just go on eBay, Amazon, Game Buzz, Wall-Mart, Futureshop, Best Buy, etc. I went to EBgames/GameStop only ONCE and that was the first and last time I've ever gone. None of my friends or anyone I know even considers stepping foot into that store.

EB games was better in my opinion, but Gamestop was foolish to buy out EB games. Buying out your competition is proof they are an inferior company and all it takes is another company doing the same thing to beat you. Locally we have a few successful Gamestop like companies here doing good. I could go on and on, but honestly they control a particular sector of the market and they aren't expanding out. The exclusive content creates a whole different market Gamestop is making more jobs!!

Dude you are ranting, besides where do you get your facts. The truth is Gamestop doesn't check each game, gamestop kind of has a monopoly, but they only really cater to one sector of the market games made in the last 12 years. That are still supported by next gen systems. The issue I see with Gamestop is they don't test their games, a reasonable amount of games are being developed in the USA and some European companies. Traditionally it was Japan and Gamestop carries most of them.
