Yeah, the "it's not from a game" arguement is the dumbest thing I've ever heard, next to the OMFG GREEN EYES? RUINED FOREVER! thing. If you wanted to see something from a game, then PLAY THE DAMN GAME. It's likely much better than some adaptation anyway.

As for the Power Rangers thing... Ugh. This has an actual plot; why remove it in favor of something that does not and is a jumble of chopped and edited Westernized stock footage?

Look at the "games" that are soooo pure in their eyes. Sonic races through areas saving animals that have already been turned into robots, with the final two levels typically dedicated to robotic cities and factories of hellish design. Is this not the same situation in this cartoon and the games?

The writers took a plotless game, found the subtext, and expanded it into a masterpiece.

Also, who could dislike how well made this robotnik is? cmon
