Anyone calling them sellouts, watch The Ocean, that song wouldn't be on the album if they'd truly sold out. It's not mainstream appeal on that one, it's something personal to Tom...something intense, and something you don't get on an album when you lose all integrity
I ve been listening to them only a year but I have all their CD's and I think your mistaken "Selling out" for "Growing up" I mean really?? another "Sell Out" conversation? They are talented and fun and the writing is awesome and meaningful and always will be, bottom line!
@idiotaxiom not the point ... making money isn't the problem, its changing your entire approach to music to make that money .... new album sounds like a greenday or killers album, which is fine if its a greenday or a killers album ... they alienated their fan base (still a huge against me fan, but the new album is seriously trash)

Wow. I've never heard a band this great live and acoustic, their songs on the cd definitely aren't edited to sound better either. One of the few bands who sound the same live and studio recorded that are good.
I love electric because I'm a metalhead...you kinda need heavy electric in metal..acoustic doesn't work lol, but I love these guys and this song sounds soo good acoustic
nope...but I've had this account for years when Atreyu only screamed..like in Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses...but if you looked at my page all I have is metal bands
sweet, punk and metal FOREVER! from Anti-Flag to Lamb of God! FUCK YEA! and ElMondial...u can go fuck urself, metal is just as much music as against me is! ur a narrow minded fuck! go look at some music that metal bands play, its insanely hard! if u dont like it, u should at least respect it.
I listen to both of those bands and have seen them both live...I like punk as much as metal...music is just awesome in general and I can respect all that is rock, punk or metal
good, im more of a melodic death metal/death metal person, i dont rlly like thrash metal, but i do like NWOBHM, early metal, minus Led Zepp, but yea, thats good, but FUCK ElMondia.
yeah, that makes 2 of us. I still like it, but its just not the same... Not saying I want more of the same, Im just saying that I dont enjoy it as much.
wtf are you all talking about the whole new wave album is fucking great, ya animal is kind of an odd song and they did slightly get away from there original genre but there just adding a little bit of flavour, all their albums are amazing.
I think everything Against Me! does is fine. Bands evolve, man. If Against Me! was still putting out the same stuff they put out ten years ago, I would be really disappointed. Accept them for who they are and not who they used to be.
And I also think that New Wave must be pretty damn good if everyone can't agree on what the "best songs" are. That means that Against Me! put out a record that people can relate to on different levels.
Not my personal favourite, and i have to say Bourne on the FM Waves and Animal annoy the fuck out of me. But whoever said it was right - if they'd released it on some small budget indie label, you'd all be defending the fuck out of it.
Nice to see you lot being non-conformists. Just like everybody else.
No, "Up the Cuts", "White People for Peace", and "Americans Abroad" are the only good songs it. Atleast Searching for a Former Clarity had like 5 good songs.
no, i wouldn't. tom's songwriting abilities have severely declined since as the eternal cowboy. that was their peak. everything since then has been them trying new forms and failing horribly. almost every song off of former clarity was shit, and from what i've heard off of new wave, this group seems to be nothing but regular songs that anyone could write. am! was good because they weren't like that.
i really disagree. searching for a former clarity may be my favorite am! album. It's just so fucking raw and especially on tracks like Miami or The Energizer, the energy is sky high. it may not be their best but its a lot better than something like vivada vis (sp?) or disco before the breakdown.
the energy on that album as a whole is hardly high. the whole thing consists of mostly slow, sludgy songs with a few fast moments peppered in. for energy, nothing beasts reinventing axl rose; it was the climax of all the acoustic am!. they compromised some of that energy for the sake of more interesting songwriting on as the eternal cowboy, but with good results. they pushed it more on clarity and crashed.
Also, signing to Sire would mean a far better distribution. That's not OMGSELLINGOUTLOL, that's trying to get your had work and talent across to anyone willing to listen.
Ramones signed to Sire? Who gives a fuck. They could have released any of their albums on Sire, Sabot or Plan It X, and in fairness, they'd still have sucked balls.
The only thing i ever found disappointing about AM! being signed to Sire, is that they're technically represented by the RIAA. What difference does it make to you idiots how much they make? As long as they're not preaching about all of their idealogies, and contradicting those same views with what they spend said money on, leave it to fuck alone.
you guys are fucking faggots they are writing the exact same type of music they did with the smaller lables they are just doing it for more money and they are fucking amazing best live band ive seen by far and they kick ass and their songs actually mean something...all you faggots calling them sellouts are faggots fall out boy and all the other shitty emo bands are fucking sellouts this back plays kick ass rock you guys just fuckin suck at life so decide to rip on them you guys suck
funny, i bet everyone here who's calling them "selloutz" is doing so on mommy and daddy's computer in their big suburban houses. Being poor sucks, and AM! was probably tired of it, so they opted for more $. New Wave rules and you all woulda thought so if it had come out on Sabot or Plan It X records.

Yes they are sellouts because they wanted to make more money, yeah that definetly makes sense, i mean id love to continue making a shitty salary if it meant that your opinion, which matters so much, would be a good one.
they are just getting a big platform. they'll still preach their approach no matter what. They ARE NOT SELLOUTS. And I would be totes scared to accuse them of it lol. Tom Gabel can't help that he's an Anarchist pop-rock-punk genius thing. of course they are going to be huge.

@idiotaxiom There was an interview back in the late '90s with Billie Joe Armstrong where he's asked about "selling out" and he says something like "I'm doing what I love to do and if I choose to make money doing what I love, that's my own goddamn business."
