Hey did you travel to puer? I'm going to kunming and then puer in a month. I'd like to hear of your experiences in kunming, good palces to stay anything about puer especially or other places to travel to.
Naaaah... Look again, they guy talking is Ma Xinmin, the Deputy Chief of Staff of Anhui Provincial Military Command. You and I know that generals tend not to get up, grab a shovel and clean up snow (or anything for that matter). Undeniably the PLA is helping out big time, especially the Air Force transport since roads are closed, but the photo-ops are bit cheesy at best.
well...this is not pure propaganda actually. Those interviewed weren't generals either. What you saw on TV is true. Everytime when natural disaster hits, PLA serves as a salvation army. They have done a damn good job. at least better then the US salvation army in Katrina...
Since you mentioned Katrina... That was a textbook example of how the government failed hundreds of thousands of people. I cant believe heads havent rolled for that one.

No Puer. But in Kunming we staid at "The Hump" (look it up in the Lonely Planet) VERY VERY nice hostel, double rooms are very good value.
