  • No one does Elvis better then Ronnie. LONG LIVE THE KING. He is still alive in his music. I was 28 years old when Elvis passed. I cried for days. I just couldn't believe it. RIP ELVIS

  • I remember hearing this song after the KING died. I was 14 and it made me cry.

  • O love love this song

  • Ronnie is my Elvis hes great singer i love hes music

  • ...the King is gone, long live the King....the life is cruel...

  • Obviously a lot of people need to grow up. When they say that Elvis was the King, they mean the king of rock & roll, first rock and roller, they don't mean the king of the world. Why ruin what Ronnie did here, he is the greatest. Makes no sense to try and degrade this, it is beautiful.

  • There may be others that dress up and look like Elvis, but it would be impossible for anyone to sound more like Elvis than Ronnie, he is fabulous, just fabulous.

  • good job ,but he was not the king ,jesus is the king'o'kings.elvis has not moved

  • @metalheadjesusfreak "I'm not the king. Christ is the only king, i'm just a singer" - Elvis Presley

  • Kathy , remember this one , miss u

  • IF THAT ISN'T LOVE - Elvis by Carlos

  • I saw him in concert shortly after Elvis was gone, he's a very sincere person, and I expressed my gratitute for his work. He was very humble, and well deserving of my complement.

  • Good song

  • Elvis has left the building :(

Farewell your Majesty...Until we meet again :)

  • Ronnie hit #13 in Billboard, 10-22-77. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • He sucks

  • @deanglofoin u suck man u wish you could sing like this think u dummy he got payed for sanging elvis songs he didnt even have to write his songs u r the dummist man ever

  • I am looking for a song I heard in the 80's but I don't know the title or the artist. I know a few of the lyrics but that's all. Any ideas?

    Down in Mississippi

    Not far from Tupelo

    Beneath a Magnolia tree

    On an old, dusty road

Oh, I sit & play my guitar

    Sittin' in the shade

Are my blue suede shoes gonna (pull me back?) ---its a little fuzzy after 20+ yrs.

    From this Mississippi grave

  • Wow!!!!! He is good. He may not be Elvis but by golly, he sounds a lot like him. Thanks for sharing xox

  • He's not bad. I can't say he sounds better than Doug Stone though.

  • I saw Ronnie McDowell perform live and he is fabulous! It's that personal touch, walking through the audience and making eye contact with the people makes you feel like he singing only for you.

  • This is very impressive Ronnie and i applaud your dedication to the great man. I admired everything that elvis done from the his early hits until his untimely death in 1977. congratulations on your wonderful singing and a great post. Mike L.

  • Gtreat Job Im So Happy That My Mom Got Me This Album And A Picture Still Got It And Never Opend It It Will Always Be Special To Me And The Way He Just Came Up With The Words Riding Down The road And Made This Song A Hit N Tribute To Elvis

It was pouring raining that night while I was listening to Elvis' life memorial program on the radio.

  • btw did u know ronnie did the songs for the movie that starred kurt russell doing elvis' life, was like it was elvis,

  • this was released not long after elvis died, and it was like this is elvis,, ronnie,is the best singing /elvis

  • i remember listening to this song... was nice meeting you ronnie in niagara falls. beautiful heart with this song

  • Thank You Ronnie!

  • Thank you posting this beautiful tribute to Elvis. I did hear this song before after Elvis had passed.I was 20 in 1977when Elvis. Now i am 52yrs old.

  • @phillyisfun so was I, remember it like it was yesterday

  • he is the only singer that actually had elvis true sound,, when he recorded this it was like that is elvis.. funny thing is, after he was finaly in the entertainment biz, he wouldnt sing elvis anymore !! he use to open for Conway:) saw him many times,

  • he is the only singer that actually had elvis true sound,, when he recorded this it was like that is elvis.. funny thing is, after he was finaly in the entertainment biz, he wouldnt sing elvis anymore !!

  • song brings back how sad i was and everyone I knew was at the time of elvis"s death. I was 11 at the time but I still remember everyone being sad and talking about it everywhere you went.never since has a celebrity died and had the county so grief striken.I imagine thats how it was when kennedy got shot.Plus there was the added fear of what would become of the country.Ive often thought maybe Elvis commited suicide.Massive amount of drugs.Life insurance policy never cashed?I hope he didn't

  • i agree...you sound like Elvis...i luv ur voice... both of you actually and i luv that song although this is just my first time to hear it

  • Thank you for keeping his memories alive!

  • If I'm not mistaken this song still holds the record for going from being written to DJ's in the shortest time ever. It was written on the morning the news of Elvis' death was reported. Ronnie was in the studio an hour later and the next morning it was getting airplay around the U.S. and two days later around the world. Another little known fact about Ronnie is that he sang the soundtrack for at least one movie about Elvis, I think it was the one starring Kurt Russell bu I'm not a 100% sure.

  • @pro3tlb

There was a made-for-TV movie (aired in 1979) that starred Kurt Russell and had Ronnie McDowell singing.

  • @A1l2l2e2n4 ... sorry but this great and very sad song came out shortly after Elvis died i remember that sad time me and my family grieved and still do RIP Elvis ... you were loved by so many !

  • I loved this when it first came out.

  • Thank you Ronnie for your great song, and your obvious love for Elvis.

To all the pathetic, white-jumpsuit-wearing (gag) "tribute artists", THIS is how you pay homage to Elvis Presley!

  • remember when this was first released brought it on 45 ty ty ty youtube for being here to keep memories alive

  • If I close my eyes and just list, I'd swear Elvis himself were singing this - amazing how talented Ronnie is! I SO loved Elvis!!! What a perfect man to sing this tribute to him!

  • This is hands down, my favorite Ever tribute to The King...

  • This is a beautiful song! R.I.P Elvis ♥xxxxxx

  • i actually had the 6" record when it came out! its been 30 years since ive heard this song....Memories

  • Thank you, Ronnie.

  • Such a great singer. Love his music and damn he does sound just like Elvis.

  • This Song is Beautiful how true!

  • 1 iht wonder on the pop chart. Hit #13 country and pop, #42 AC in Billboard. God bless!

  • Once I got within 6 feet of Elvis... but I forgot my shovel....

  • Mary Jane says, THIS IS THE GEATEST TRIBUTE EVER

    !!!

  • @maryjaneadkisson Jimmy Ellis Orion did one too called "He's Gone but not Forgotten". Listen to it on here!

  • GOOD TRIBUTE SONG

  • Being introduced on the radio by Uncle Ray in Hong Kong, singing is so close to Elvis, can hear it once more in youtube, it's great !!

  • this i s agood song

  • wow Mr. McDowell beautiful!!!!!!!

  • He comes close to the kings sound but make no mistake nobody can sing like Elvis

  • ya think?

  • Yes he's gone but he's still always with us with his beautiful Music!

  • How many of you out there felt you were destined to marry Elvis just like me? Imagine my shock to learn Elvis was gone when I was only 14 years old. "But he can't be gone, I was supposed to marry him." Ah, but childhood dreams aside, Ronnie does a fanastic job singing like Elvis and also great in his own singing style. He's also a very kind person who I had the pleasure to meet in the 1980's. Great performer!

  • The King is gone but he will never die in the hearts of true Elvis fans. He was the greatest. Only Ronnie McDowell can come close to his sound but not even close to him.

  • it can't be 33 years can it? I cried for weeks over this song. Simply gorgeous. I have not yet stopped crying over Elvis. Until we meet again.....................

  • Ronnie, you know, you song just like Elvis.

  • Very good ! The voice really remember Elvis !

  • the greatest tribute song to THE GREATEST ENTERTAINER EVER!

  • I miss my mom when I hear this song. When she was alive she told me a story about her mother(my grandmother) who loved Elvis, when she played this song for her mother and asked her who she thought was the singer. My gram said, "its obvious, Elvis Presley". My mom said, "Are you willing to bet on that". long story short, Mom won a dollar and ronnie gained a new fan. love and miss you Mom.

  • Priscilla, not Pricilla. Sorry Priscilla. And to all you people who are so disrespectful of Elvis, jealousy is an ugly thing! And Ronnie McDowell, I love your music besides this one song. God Bless everyone. And remember, we're only here for a little while. Make a difference...

  • I remember the day Elvis died. I never cried so much in my entire life. Such a special man with a beautiful voice. I was 18y/o when he died. I cried even more when I saw Lisa Marie and Pricilla on tv. Life doesn't seem fair sometimes. And I remember when Ronnie came out with this song right after Elvis died. He's the only man I've ever heard who sounded so much like Elvis. While Elvis had a beautiful voice, it was also his personality that made Elvis.I will love you forever Elvis! R.I.P.

  • i love that he wrote that about ELVIS PRESLEY!!!!!!

  • love this song

  • Does Ronnie live in the Atanta area ?

  • maybe we should have that sale at k-mart......boy's underwear half-off. and zinc oxide Rexall buy one get one free. sorry folks-lot's of children living the rest of their lives u know how.if one of them were yours,i dont think youd give a s^#$ how well he danced.

  • i remember this what a beautiful way to do a tribute someone needs to do this for Michael Jackson, such class not rap and YO crap. Thanx Ronnie love you xxxxx

  • @Cherstars

Yes, they can call it "Tribute to a Lowlife".

  • Ronnie did a concert in our town not too long after the song came out. I was 14 and got to show his manager how to get to our local airport. Mine was the first hand he shook when he got out of plane. I got to sit next to Ronnie in the car to a local radio station and to the concert. Also got to hang out back stage during the concert.

  • Ok kids I know I will get some crap for saying this, but I never was an Elvis fan. BUT I love this song. Just because I am not a fan of Elvis doesn't mean I can't feel the awe that Ronnie Mcdowlell feels towards him.

Ronnie I bow to you. Its good sing about your heros.

  • @Jukeboxguy00 well there are some people who is an elvis presley fan like me

and theres people who isnt elvis fan but it doesnt hurt to listen and experiance other songs icluding this one they way ronnie sang this he sung it with feeling's straight from his hear to the king of rock n roll and i respect this guy fpr writing this about someone who had it all love respect everything n here this man wrote this this for him and sung it to his hero

  • @tcbtheking01 Read my first comment again. I just was saying I am not an Elvis fan but I was touched by Ronnie's song as an dedication to Elvis. I am not a Elvis hater by no means.

  • @Jukeboxguy00 well read mine again i was agreeing with you dude i was saying

that its good to see some who haves great taste in musc

  • @Jukeboxguy00 I'm a life-long Elvis fan, and you will NOT get crap from me. I respect your opinion, and the kind, thoughtful manner of your comments.

  • People! Ronnie doesn't make his living from sounding like Elvis, He just happens to do it very, very, well. There is a reason HE is the choice for soundovers. Get a life, accept that Elvis is gone, and be grateful that his songs & music are still carried to MILLIONS without it costing BILLIONS. Geesh.

  • I think he would surley love that

  • Worked for me.

  • lol i think he would of loved this this is a great tribute.

  • Okay, why the hell are people ranting about Michael Jackson during a tribute to Elvis?

  • i like this tune very very much you know what i mean j phillips reed

  • wow what a great song elvis will always be the greatest.

  • Isn't this about Elvis?

  • yes

  • MJ was a pedophile but at long last he is now a dead pedophile. The world rejoices and is still throwing a party about good times the kids are having now. Now if his freak family would kick the bucket too then we would be in high cotton.

  • Hi peckerhead. Tell your mom I said hello. She'll know what you mean. Just like MJ did with those litte boys, homo lover.

  • LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL You're a homo clown. Circus side show freak boy just like mike. What's wrong? Did your mom take away the tit and get your painties in a bunch? Bye lipboy.

  • MJ was a pedophile but at long last he is now a dead pedophile. The world rejoices and is still throwing a party about good times the kids are having now. Now if his freak family would kick the bucket too then we would be in high cotton.

  • I can type is slower and with footnotes if your whore mom is there wanting to understand the concept of language besides her usual words of "Oh yeah baby, put it right there. Harder, harder, harder. Put it in my poopershooter." You get that there, skippy?

  • Chuck who? Oh you mean that greasy headed man who waddled like a duck and couldn't play the guitar and sing at the same time. Did he sing rock and roll? Never hear anyone speak of him unless they are talking about him being in jail. Chuck Berrry was and is a no talent joke.

  • wow ty, he sounded just like elvis when this first came out , everyone thought it was elvis,,,,,,, thnx for the video/post

ronnie opened for conway for years and years, saw them every year from 79 thru the late 80s

  • such a beautiful tribute

    thanks for sharing

  • Learn how to spell Daniel before commenting.

  • Litsen your son of a BITCH. All you know is 2 tell the people how 2 spell things but noboDY gives a FuCk about ur meaningless opinion!! You are fellow with a milk stomach and you are gonna die just wait 4 2 or 3 days and guess where ur going?? HELL! YES!!!! FUCK OFFFFF

  • Its racists elvis fans that continue to hurt his name and image. Michael fans do nothing to help there man out by constantly saying he is better than Elvis. Elvis was is and always will be the king of Rock-N-Roll. Michael will always be the king of the eighties video scene. I am a big time Elvis fan, but I can also aknowledge all the work and contributions MJ has made in pop colture and music. You fans of both are a total imbarrasment.

  • daniel i couldnt agree with u more mate well said buddy

  • ELVIS is THE KING!! The only KING of MUSIK!

  • oh fu** u mistercoors. he is not a pedofile u idiot! .I DON´T COMPARE MJ 2 ELVIS CUZ THAT WOULD BE A SHAME. MJ IS MUCH BETTER THAN ELVIS!!

  • I agree,Michael Jackson is Not a pedophile. He is a fucking DEAD pedophile. And on the rest of your bullshit comment,ELVIS rules 100 to 1,"u idiot".

  • yeah keep convince you´r selfe. but as u and i know mj is the best and there is nothing u can do about it. so u take ur ridiculous elvis and stuff it in u r stuped ass!!!

  • who said that i was black your rasist!

    and now u r a intelligent person2!! wow.. i can see that!!

  • A Racist Comment would come from an Elvis Fan.Michaels Fan Band together, all races. There's no such thing as a Nigger.

  • OOOOOOOH,YES hell there is such a thing as a NIGGER.You are a prime example of one.The pedophile is where he should be,H-E-L-L.

  • hey friend can i comment that although m.j has made a real impact with his music ( i im really not takin anything away from the guy he woz brilliant) he's not in the same league as the king, thats not meant in any way offensive like n as for mistercoors!! buddy the nigger comment is outta order fs mj mite have been black but why is that any different from the rest of us???

  • Thanks for your esponse also with out being so graffic as some past folks. Please listen to "MY Babe" by little walter and "Hound Dog" by Big Mama ThortonI don't see where Elvis created anything. If black artist of their day were able to be heard there would be no use for Elvis Or a Pat Boone,Who covered their music.I enjoyed Elvis too as a child The old Movies But King?Chuck Berry,Created.Still no disrespect to Elvis fans we all have our favorates.

  • The reason Elvis covered black music was because he loved it. He didnt take anything away from the original artists that sang them first. Plus, he sang it in a different style. Hound Dog was originally a blues song written by Leiber and Stoller not Thronton. Elvis did it like the version that Freddie Bell and the Bell Boys arranged -not Thorntons version-which was a minor hit 4 years earlier.

  • Michael Jackson did not "self-proclaim" as the King of Pop. It was a name given by Elizabeth Taylor at an awards ceremony.

He loved hanging out with kids, like some babysitters do. Some parents wanted to get ahold of his money so accused him of molestation and his insurance company made him pay against the advice of his lawyers. Do a little research and you will find out. Don't call him a pedophile. He was acquitted.

  • Yea, OJ was acquitted too...

  • My mom, and some of her relatives are going to see this guy on Thursday. I bet they will be blown away!

    :-)

  • Oh yeah,he DID become the king of POP during his funeral.POP=Pedophile On Parade.

  • I'm assuming YOU realize "money talks and bullshit walks".50 year old men don't invite little boys to stay overnight and sleep with them. That is,NORMAL 50 year old men.

  • I remember just after the passing of Elvis, my daddy bought me this single. It was almost like Elvis was still around, I listened to it daily.

  • Don't you idiots even THINK of comparing that PEDOPHILE Michael Jackson to Elvis.SHAME,SHAME,SHAME on you if you do.

  • I'm assuming you realise that the boy who accused Michael Jackson of molestation confronted the press and admitted he lied on his fathers behalf for money.

  • Comment removed

  • Yesyes Hampton Va frist time I saw him!!!!I knew ronnie when he was a nothing!!and a nobody!!!I still love him!!

  • On August 16, 1977, we lost the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley. On June 25, 2009, we lost the King of Pop, Michael Jackson (who was married to Elvis' daughter Lisa Marie from 1994-96).

I wonder if some of the words could be re-witten and this song released as a tribute to Michael.

  • I hope not

  • Come to think of it, you're right. Michael self-proclaimed himself to be "The King of Pop", but we the fans gave Elvis the title "The King of Rock and Roll".

  • are you stupid, michael didnt call him self the king of pop, it was at an awards thing in the 80's, and the woman said 'The award goes to Michael Jackson, the King Of Pop' that how the whole name thing happened, look at you trying to think your right

  • Comment removed

  • Non Elvis n'est pas parti, on le garde dans nos coeurs, on parlera toujours de Lui!
