I like to split the difference between the really skinny and really wide ties. What I'm really tired of are the super skinny suits with flood pants. Unless you're trying hard to look unusual, they don't work.

Not sure how different the US magazine is from the UK one but... $150 too much for a tie, the UK magazine exhibits £6000 coats and £500 trousers...

@jackfordmac You can but the US GQ in the UK at Eason for about £5+. Or you can get it on ipod touch/iphone/ipad version on the apple itunes/app store for £1.79!

The Tie Bar is great, but shipping is about $6, which more than 1/3 of what the tie itself cost. Seems excessive for a little skinny tie which weighs a few ounces.

@gusboysf you can always buy more than one and if you still think that isn't good enough there are thai websites where you can get some great thai silk skinny ties for about $5 not including shipping. i recently came back from bangkok and had a few suits made there and they are gorgeous. so if you know anyone going there you can have some made for about $100 a suit as opposed to getting online from their websites which lead to inaccuracies in measurement.

I like skinny ties well enough, but tbh, I still prefer a larger tie. There's just something about it that demands respect. :D
