Thanks for posting this great Bruce Springsteen classic. The sheet music for Roy Bittan's wonderful piano part on "Because the Night" can be found at manymidi.com/sheetmusic.htm - a note-for-note transcription.
I too, am a long time Bruce fan and purist and yes this Jay is really great.
Hard to believe how good. . Bruce is a perfectionist from what I have read. Clarence said about the Super Bowl practice-it went on and on and when everyone thought it was perfect the BOSS insisted on more rehearsal. That said, I do not believe J would get a pass-he is working under a very precise, person and if Bruce lets him pass, I feel it is because the kid deserves it-not because of his last name!
Jay performed the whole show at Hershey 5/15/09. I flew up from FL to see Bruce with my old NJ buds. I was skeptical at first but I was quickly won over. Jay was awesome & choosing him to fill in was a smart move on Bruce's part. I love Max, but Jay was great; he played his ass off. You negative folks are either opposed to change or maybe jealous? Hell, I'm alittle jealous--my summertime job at 18 I was a damned bank teller! Come to think of it - I am really jealous! :)
I have been a Bruce fan for 25 years and have seen him 20 times. 6 last year and 2 so far this year. I am a drummer and Jay freakin rocks! But at :48 in the video, I seemed to hear a drum roll that wasn't there, like it was the one from 75-85. I wonder if they are playing a track over his druming in case he messes up. Anyone have any info??
Saw Bruce at the Spectrum in Philly last night, April 28th. Let me just say to any of you who think Jay Weinberg is not "good enough" to be on stage with E street band ... THIS KID IS GREAT!!! He played for at least 30 minutes last night. I've been a bass player for 30 years so I know drummers. If I were his father I'd be bustin' my buttons.
Looking forward to seeing him in the future! Great job Jay!!!!!!
Well since the DC show is in May Max is expected to be there but Jay looks like he can do a fine job filling his dad shoes. Only problem might be the curveballs Bruce likes to throw by the band from time to time. He will decide to play something not on the setlist. Not sure if Jay can keep up with that pace and the few shows he does probably will be pretty basic and stick to the setlists.
i was at the show, security SUCKED big time. All i did was take out my cell phone to check the time and an usher screamed "PUT IT AWAY!" and almost knocked my phone out of my hand.
How did you get to go to a Rehearsal show?

Although I hope to see The (all)Mighty Max, having Jay at the show would - for me - not be a dissapointment. I'm surprised his arms don't fall off ;)
