Ian Moore is very talented. He has been changing his style becuase he wants to. And also since he is doing the reunion tours he is playing his old songs. I think he has been goood all along. Trust me. He knows people liked his old stuff and his neww stuff but you cannot control so much about what he does.
Per Ian's website..."the last of our reunion shows! OKC @ the Diamond ballroom. First time in 15 years with all original band members. Playing songs from the 1st 2 records, as well as the unreleased 3rd(the First Third)" August 20th 2011...Hell ya I wanna be there!
Ian and the original band will be doing 6 shows next month in Texas and Oklahoma, focusing on the 1st 2 records. For those of you that miss this phase, this is the time. dates posted @ ianmoore.com
has it ever fucking occurred to you all that no two of us respond exactly the same way to the same stimuli, so all i want is a suggestion from you, stranger, recommending what you dig, and then i give it a listen, and i become that much more knowledgable about music and musicians, and i thank you, and i don't waste your time or mine attempting to argue what is neither right nor wrong, but rather a personal opinion, and each of us is entitled to our own.
You people...it's like you go into an ice cream shop and sit around arguing which flavor is best ;) FWIW Moore is great...he just chose to grow as an artist and not to be another guitarslinger cliche.
everytime i watch a viid of a blues based guitarist playing a strat ,i read comments like "he is the new SRV or ,he is a srv wxannabe ...etc " i mean why do you comlpare guitarists
Ok two much 12 bar shuffles is not your thing, but more soul and stronger chops? I saw em both live, don't know if you saw Stevie Ray live as well but it was not even close. Ian Moore better guitar player? Start smoking some highter grade gange really I'm serious. SRV was better then Santana, Clapton, R Cray, J page,Slash, M Campbell these were all guitarist I saw live.
@nat00ben06 Dude - Comparing "who is better" is a never ending battle of opinions. Yes, SRV is better at being SRV than anyone else. Clapton is better at being Clapton, Hamburgers are better at being hamburgers... Get it? It's all about who moves you. SRV just doesn't move me, like Dream Theater doesn't move me. Ian Moore moves ME better than any of the others you mentioned. That's all that matters to me.
Yea Ian Moore was not so talented as SRV to be as great a blues guitar as SRV but he still had his on thing and it was very cool. The evolution part he de-evolutioned and I don't understand why? I mean he aint talented like BDylan or The Beatles just be the badass blues warrior Ian, big dummy!
I prefer Ian to SRV. I think he had stronger chops, more soul to his voice, and I can only listen to about two 12 barr shuffles in a row - Ian was blues without 12 barr shuffles. He didn't stick to 1-4-5. I know SRV had SOME songs that deviated from the norm, but still... They were all pretty similar...at least to my ear.
all Ian's records show a natural growth as a musicain. His old stuff rocked and his new stuff is good. Its all Ian! Great voice and great songwriter. As far as the comment about the record company wanting him to sound like SRV...yeah most likely....record companies do that with alot of their artists but ....but....he couldnt play the guitar that awesome only if the record company told him too.....hes a great guitarist.
According to Ian, this isn't the real Ian. He claims the record companies wanted him to be the next SRV and pushed him to do more of this. This is way better than the crap he's putting out now!
ian moore doesnt get the respect he deserves. Todays music is all discardable in a week after it is played a hundred times on the radio.. Thankfully they didnt overplay this gem.. Thanks for posting it
Actually he did have a little Hendrix influence but it was a lot more SRV than Hendrix I assure you. Great to see this older performance - one of my favorites of his older tunes.
Man thanks for putting this up. I saw him a couple times live. Great.

He's a much better songwriter now...His first album is ok, mostly generic blues rock. But some people like generic blues rock, and thats ok.

With all due respect, Ian's pipes leave Hendrix in the dust. There is no meaningful comparison to be made vocally.
