Say what you will about the Pistols--the fact is that they influenced a tremendous amount of bands and artists in the UK including one Mr. John Mellor aka Joe Strummer.
glenn + steve jones were the music of the T.S.P and rotten was the face ,sid was in the wrong place an icon no way could he play shit oh and just for you sid fans on i did it my way his vocal was 18% only rest was the good old studio techs look it up it isnt hard to learn these facts your on the internet now its just a click before you say bill thats correct -------------- waiting mmmmm
Always makes me laugh when people think they're so right about something when in actual fact they're so wrong. Glen Matlock was and is a really good bass player. Sid never played a note because he couldn't. When NTB was being recorded Sid was in hospital with yellow jaundice. Steve Jones stepped in and played the bass on the tracks. Paul Cook is a solid drummer and all that was/is required for the Pistols. Like Phil Rudd with AC/DC. Anyway, Steve Jones is just the ultimate rock guitarist :)
There's some crap being talked here by OregonDuck etc - I've seen the Pistols play this song live better than this. Sid was pretty much useless but he didn't write or play on Anarchy. Ever heard of Glen Matlock? No, thought not. Of course the Pistols played Never Mind... (with exception of Sid I've heard), although the guitar was multitracked (are you telling me The Alarm have never used techniques like this in the studio?) Steve Jones is a great gutarist.
The Pistols *were* obviously very, very important. But they weren't good musicians. Never were and never tried to be. There were all about attitude. But they could be beaten at that, too. The Dead Kennedys laid waste to this song in a way that Johnny, Sid/Glenn, Steve, and Paul could only dream about.
the alarm the damned, billy bragg, the mahones and about 40 other bands are all appearing at the festival to remember joe strummer (strummercamp) in may 2009 at manchester england..check it out strummercamp festival.
mike peters isn't trying to outdo the pistols just tipping his hat in thier direction,i would rather listen to the alarm as the whole ONE pistols album
The Gathering is an incredible weekend. It's like getting together with 1,500 friends you never really knew you had. Alarm fans just take over Llandudno for two days and are fortunate enough to listen to two long and energetic sets from Mike and the boys. I've been to the last four and I can't wait to cross the pond one more time to get back in January.
There is always a Band who you follow through thick and thin,me and my mates have followed them for 25 years.Seen them at Rooftops in Sauchiehall St,Glasgow just at the time of the 68 Guns.Best concert i have ever attended.Must have played about 5 encores. We never miss The Alarm on there Glasgow Gigs.We actually flew down to Manchester to see them perform just after Mike got the all clear.Still to attend THE GATHERING though.Whats it like.
my first ever concert was the alarm,i think about "84"and it was in the club which was part of the old apollo, round the side of it,glasgow penthouse it was called i re call, amazing night going home with our ears ringing mad and realising we had been to see a great band!
ok dude if the alarm are better than the pistols why are they playing a pistols song? dumbass and no their not better than the pistols....the pistols have done way more and are and will always be better than the alarm
Mike Peters still touring playing small and accessable gigs or John Lydon playing at being a punk to thousands in a field at £70 a go, adverting butter and trying to beat McClaren on Z-lister 'reality' shows.....The Pistols where a moment in time its over move on.
For what its worth..The Pistols were incredibly important in the history of music and Punk godfathers. Lets face reality here..Sid vicious was the worst musician ever punk icon or not..This is a way better version than any the sex pistols ever did. Bottom line is the Pistols were about an attitude and time period but they were hacks musically.
Oregonduck2008 Your just a fucking dick talking shit. Have you ever seen the early Pistols live? No probably not, have you even seen The Alarm Live? Well i saw them both and the Pistols shit on The Alarm every time, especially with there own Material.
Jesus people like like you really piss me right off. keep you stupid comments to yourself. you idiot.
@Oregonduck2008 i think youll find that the sex pistols may have been to good at playing their instruments but their music was fucking amasing, it said something and it stood for something
Hi; i'm a bc fan and i love the alarm; to me; wow; considering Mike is 1 of the most tuneful guys i've ever heard; he does this so very fuckin' well...it must've been so hard for him!!!! Go get 'em Mike...TAKE CARE...luv & stuff....amanda.
Sorry for slagging you off stminver thought you were just been a little nasty.. Worked with Steve (mikes bro) making bouncy castles in Morrels in Prestatyn! Got pissed with him and mike in Rhyl in 87! Oh My!
Fantastic! I Lived and was Bought up in Rhyl but left twenty years ago. The Alarm absolutely rock! This vid was Fucking awesome. Mike Peters is amazing. Better than so many of the artificial rock groups around today!
There's one in every crowd and you must be on drugs or just stupid. Idiot! If you've got nothing good to say to say anything the Mike Peters is a legend!
Not bad Mr. Peters, not bad at all.
Say what you will about the Pistols--the fact is that they influenced a tremendous amount of bands and artists in the UK including one Mr. John Mellor aka Joe Strummer.

it's good. Mike Peters' voice is spot on, but i prefer 'traditional' Alarm. their first Album was brilliant!

how many of the Alarm are left in this band? Not bad I suppose
delavalhall 1 year ago
@delavalhall The answer is one - Mike Peters and session musicians, still using the alarm name though.
Meadoway40 11 months ago
@Meadoway40 Session musicians? Afaik, the new Alarm has former members of other bands like Stiff Little Fingers, etc.
