If you are that freaked about it, turn off 'Uploads' on Limewire.

-Move all of your files out of the Shared Folder.

-Or go into Library, select everything, and choose 'Do Not Share'.

You don't even need to upload, but you get to download faster if you do.

Limewire is more likely to have a virus, trojan etc.. If it is a P2P. A virus, trojan, etc... can easily be embedded into videos and or music. The program he used can be scanned once and be done with it and P2Ps you have to scan every file to see if it has a virus or not.

So what you're saying is 'Download this program that probably has a virus, and then download music off mySpace which might also have viruses.' (Myspace files are no safer than Limewire files.)

Even if you scan this for viruses and it's clean, who says it isn't uploading your passwords or credit card numbers? Who says it doesn't wait 20 days to download a virus the next time it opens?

I would pick a familiar program over some unknown booby trap like this.

As popular as Myspace is, the servers would have an anti virus program on it. Because one small change in binary from a 0 to a 1 can mess up an entire system. Yea the program he uses could have a virus on it, but its just on chance. On Limewire you have to worry about every thing you download, and maybe getting in trouble for stealing music.(Idk if Limewire is legal or not, I don't care to look it up.)

Agreed; myspace checks it's files.

But like I said: this program is probably a virus. The fact that nobody has heard of it and nobody uses it is a testament to it's unquality.

Limewire is legal if you download licensed MP3s (ie: the artist is sharing their music) .. so, it's mostly illegial, but impossible to get caught.

You will never download a virus on Limewire if you can recognize viral files. They are too small and use a bad format. Easy to avoid.

Ppl can upload files FROM you, but NOT to you. ie; you have 'Closer', somebody else can download it from you. From your perspective, upload it from you.

But they can't put files on your computer. That's just crazy talk. The only way to download a virus on limewire is if YOU click and download a bad file.

The monitor page shows what files people are getting from you. They are Downloading it from you, you are Uploading it to them. That's how filesharing works! You download from ppl, they download from you.

Didn't you notice; the monitor page shows files that you already downloaded from Limewire. Only files in your Shared folder.

I hate how ppl call things a hack or a glitch or whatever. Its a simple program that say when you stream something, in this case a song of myspace it captures all that data and writes into a mp3.

P.S. I got a similar add-on for FireFox that does the same thing with youtube videos or any flash based video for that matter.
