Tattoo removal the hard way.Ive ridden with tshirt and shorts once and got away with it ,not doing it again.Even on the hottest day I have a light weight cordura jacket with large vents front and back also wear summer bike gloves and kevlar lined rst jeans that let the air through keeping my legs cool but offer better protection than normal jeans. I can honestly say that once on the go its nice and cool and of course you feel safer knowing if the worst happens you still have some protection .

Question... MIght sound dumb but I'm buying an R1 and I've never owned a bike before. Probably a stupid first bike... But how much would protective gear have saved this? Again it might sound dumb but like I said I have never owned a bike. Just trying to get some info.

@MasonJenn well, do yourself a favor and don't get an R1 as your first bike. I mean, c'mon. Who are you trying to impress? And no gear will save you when you slam into a stationary object, and there will be plenty of those on public roads. This crash happened on a drag strip with only walls on either side. At these speeds, you'll get knocked around, and your leather suit might wear clean through. Without the suit, busaspeed would have been hamburger meat.

@MasonJenn dude seriously!?! im pretty sure someone has already commented you back but from one rider to another; dont get an R1 as ur first bike! A friend of mine got a zx10 as his first bike lost half his foot in a wreck and got off lucky! liter bikes are not for first timers and honestly shouldnt even be sold to them. a 600 will be more than fast enough for you and way more than you can handle! be safe dude we dont need more bloody skid marks on the road!
