In My opinion, I think the Japan Version is much better. I have already seen both versions and compared the two. I think the Japanese is more funnier cause it shows more about youth and high school life and shows how friends stick to one another. And I don't really care about the romantic scenes and the looks of the actors cause I'm more after the soul in a drama.

No offense, but I don't really think the Taiwanese Version is funny.....Sorry

Japanese version i like more. Oguri Shun acts naturally and portrayed the character of Sano believable. And also, Maki really looks like the Mizuki of manga. She tried hard to be like a boy but at the same time cant fully hide her being feminine. That made it more understandable why the two guys fell for her.

Taiwanese FTW! Ella actually looks like a girl passing as a boy. The one in the Jap version just straight up looks like a girl in a guy's cosplay. You'd have to be blind to be convinced that she was a boy. And I don't get why people say the guys in the Jap version are hotter o.O The main charcters arent that hot. Wu Chun, Jiro Wang and even Danson Tang who plays Senior Nan are drop dead gorgeous. The J-ver is just too everywhere, has a better ending but it's sorta annoying Chunella 4eva!

iwas tryna to watch both, but i got bored already in the 4th episode of the taiwanese version. i even tried to watch that first bcoz of the reviews and Ella Chun is convicing to be mistaken as a guy.

but when i tried the japanese version..it was non-stop, there was never a dull moment in each episode, especially when the 3 dorms compete with each other, besides shun and maki have also better chemistry.

I agree with all the people who have said that both have their good points. I think I like the Taiwanese version a tiny bit more since it was the first one I saw and I love Wu Chun. If only you could transfer Nakatsu and the Japanese ending to the Taiwanese version it would be perfect. ^_^

well this might be a very late reply to this.. but i think ella's acting is what drew the people to watch hk taiwan.. it was a comedy so the acting should be a bit exaggerated. besides, who would ever mistake that girl in the japanese version as a guy. Ella at least was able to look like a guy which means she was effective. Besides there were more viewers of hk taiwan than hk japan in the philippines.

Though I did like both versions, I have to say, I liked the Japanese version better. No offense, but Ella is far too over dramatic for me sometimes. That's really the only problem I had with the Taiwan version. There were times when she was in character, but then other times where her acting really was over-done and killed the scene. =/

Nakatsu's part was played perfectly by Ikuta Toma and Jiro Wang. They both made me crack up. xD

I do think Oguri Shun made a better Sano than Chun did. >>;

i like the Japanese one better.

reasons:

1) I'm not hating or anything but Ella's acting was a bit too much and totally killed my spirit for wanting to watch it. whereas the Jap. ver. made me stay up till 6 in the morning to finish it.

2) the school is supposed to consist of pretty boys. NO ONE can top Jap. pretty boys. Taiwanese ones are hot but not pretty. most Jap. guys can cross dress and pass off as a girl where Taiwanese ones can't. they have that masculinity that screams, "I'm a guy!"

I prefer the Japanese version personally. Even though I liked the cast from the Taiwanese version, the emotions that were struck across were not as powerful as the Japanese version. In the Japanese version, the funny scenes were really hilarious, but the touching and sad scenes were really the sort that could move one's heart. The Taiwanese version was not bad, but perhaps since I was more familiar with the faces, the story didn't seem as realistic anymore.

In my opinion, both were great. Taiwan version had lots of humor in it and it had great singers too. Ella reaction in some scenes were a little bit exaggerated though. The jap version had humor and romance in it. It was really adorable. I love Jiro in the taiwan version and Ikuta Toma in the Japanese Version
