  • love the super 10 very easy for me

  • Using the clutch during what they call "button shifts" and "lever shifts" is unecessary to say the least. Once you learn your truck and get the super 10 down, you will only use the clutch to stop and start. I've driven a KW with a super 10 for 5 years now and never had the clutch redone once. I just dont use it that much.....

  • @dfdemt thanks for ur reply. I bought a truck with a Super 10 & the seller told me the same thing u said. I have a little trouble wrapping my mind around this. I was concerned there would be some kind of damage, but u driving S 10 for 5 yrs without a problem helps dis-spell my concern. Does this "no clutch" pertain to going up&dn grades as well. It's bewildering that EATON does NOT mention "no clutch" in this vid, U have thoughts on why. Thanks again for ADDING good & helpful info to this vid

  • easy shifting i learned it in an hour!

  • Love the Super Ten!

  • super10 is easiest for me. if i use a straight 10 i will grind the gears :-)

  • What's all the fuss about this transmission some truckers don't like ??

  • @brossmart I don't like it cause I have drove 9 and 10 speeds my whole life. It takes some getting used to. When it's cold out, or when you first start driving they are cold blooded and do not like to shift until they get warmed up. I like my straight 9's and 10's yes you have to shift everything up shifting, or down shifting, but I think it's cheaper maintence and not to mention I can never remember what gear im in. Some love them some hate them. I have mixed feelings on them.

  • I prefer the split shifting opposed to straight ten. A lot less work in shifting.

  • this looks so confusing. LOL. i think i'll stick to a straight 10.

  • @DanW900 It looks a lot harder in the video that what it is. The upshifting is easy just take your foot off the gas and let it do the work. The down shifting is a little bit more tricky. I keep my foot on the gas down shift, and then rev it up quick to get it down shifted, but I will stay with my 9 and 10's also. I'm looking at a Peterbelt 379 with a cat in it and it is a super 10 though.

  • I listened to other drivers who drove with a Super 10, read the operator's manual concerning the Super 10, but found that if you move the shift lever to neutral position and move the button when up-shifting, the transmission will shift much faster. I found if you leave the shift lever in the gear position and downshift by moving the button and let up on the accelerator and immediately re-accelerate gradually, the transmission will downshift quite smoothly.

  • great video - thanks for sharing! Clearly spoken and mapped out...

  • the super 10 is the easiest transmisson to in the world...if you cant use a super 10 without saying it's confusing then you shouldnt be driving a truck...

  • Key word in 1:58-2:16!!!!

  • Finally had a chance to drive a Mack dump truck with a super 10. Horrible not only is it confusing but I found no advantages to having to split back and forth. No clutch required it is all in being smooth with good control of the rpm. Still prefer a 9, 13 specially an 18 speed.

  • The video is greate, as for the rest I'll just have to try it!!

  • My experience with a Super 10: Unfortunately, I own one of these pieces of shit. THe gear spacing blows. It's a useless heap of crap and I'm glad they came to their senses and stopped making them. Any truck I buy in the future will most definitely NOT have this idiotic abortion of a transmission in it!!

  • @paddletrucker i know wont pull worth a shit either i run a pete with one a 550 hp catapillar a model motor hit a hill it dies i put a 13 in the truck cause i got tired of it now i bareley have to down shift on a hill

  • My experience with the super 10 : As a range change as well as a splitter type trans I found this a very robust reliable gearbox, I heard some negative comment about this box but it took me no time to sort this out. Simply by letting the splitter work faster in neutral.. or by using the clutch partially.. I found that by shifting into neutral then splitting up then putting shifter straight back in I found the splitter was as fast as any splitter... good gearbox as long as you understand it.

  • My Dad says this tranny sucks. No different than driving the back side of a 13 or an 18 on both sides. These dumb ass new drivers are just lazy and don't know the difference.

  • @casefan14 Couldn't agree more!

  • Never liked the super 10.... Maybe I'm just old school...

  • great video, im a new driver.. so this help . thanks for share..

  • cant beat a 13 speed

  • @MrMrcrain cept with an 18:]

  • stupid 10 junk 5 x 4 spicers two boxes are easyer to shift. eaton is a dummy trans

  • thanks for posting this video. i'm in the running for an end dump job driving a super 10, so this was a big help understanding the difference between a 10 speed and a super 10.

  • id take a super 10 over a 9 speed or a 13 or 18 speed anyday

  • i like the super 10

  • i like the super 10

  • only drove a super 10 once and was pretty impressed with it once i got my head around it. my only complaint would be the rev drop between 9th and top. was in a speed llimited truck and after selecting top gear it only had about 200rpm before being on the limiter.

  • @baldymp3 Super 10 can take a while to adjust to. Got to love the Super 10 though

  • @1977F150408 aw dont get me wrong, once i had familiarized myself with the operation of the box i really liked it. my only dislike was the jump from 9th to 10th. in a big hp truck it wouldnt be an issue or if the truck wasnt speed limited. even one geared slightly differently so you get a few more revs in top gear before hitting the limiter. but i really did like the operation, very straightforward and simple once you get used to it.

  • @baldymp3 What rig are you driving?

  • @1977F150408 driving some jap crap now but the super 10 i drove was in an international S3600. dont think you get them in the states.

  • @baldymp3 Nope

  • So much simpler than a hi lo range. give me a break eaton I had to drive a mack with one this transmissions. climbing hills it doesent auto kick out of 10'th. A super piece of crap

  • Yeah have to agree I like regular 10s better. Alot easier too.

  • I would rather have a straight 9 or 10..

  • My grandpa has been a truck driver for neerly 35 years and he said this is probably one of the best trannys he's ever had. He loves it.

  • i love the super 10, probably my favorite transmission....

but when i first hopped in one i hated it, takes a little getting use to

  • thanx they scheduled me in a truck with this transmision

  • This is a super easy tranny to use. Once you get use to it you may start doing what I did, start in 3rd, jump to 5th, then 7th, then 9th then split to 10. This was a fun tranny. :)

  • I thought the truck was gone but i see it in the yard again. so thanx for the heads up

  • do they even make these things anymore?

  • I don't think they do. I would rather have a regular 10 spped with the high/low range selector.

  • thank's great vid.

  • Great video. I'd like to see more like this for other set-ups!
