My daddy's music! i stole it from 2 white guys from Alabama & Georgia. 1965 young Blacks wasn't into Blues. Deep South Whites were! I Stole it as I packed for Vietnam!. Along with other blues! I've still got it somewhere in my basement.
@jor99912 oh wow,,,,,, thats awesome,,,well,,,,the music part,,,not the 'Nam part. I have relatives who were in Nam and it was hell. Even for decorated soldiers & some officers...but yea....very very cool of a to have those...hehe wish I had the original records. xx I had tapes from my brother Des' growin up. (RIP) Thanks for sharing yr story and PEACE and happy holi'daze'. x "Jenny"
@kuchcache awww xx youre so welcome. I grew up with this too- thanks to my brother Desmond. (RIP) Im so happy you dig this. Always good to hear from ya'll out there. PEACE and blessings ~"Jenny"
"I miss'n tail treasure for ya ol' lady, but I don' wanna...(huh, huh)" --or SOMETHIN' like that!
One of the best! 1962's Just Jimmy Reed should take top awards in the Wigged Out Hall of Fame. Side two is Jimmy live in the studio, with lots o' banter with the guys backing him up. At one point somebody introduces the term "yuckum!" into the American blues lexicon!
Great music throughout too. "Take It Slow", "I'll Change My Style", "Too Much", "In the Morning"--it's all good, as they say!
@spraddr LMAO!!! Oh my good-lawd! You figured out what the hell he says there! or,,,,,somethin like it,,,hahah! I love him so much ya know? Im 15 again right NOW! He just takes ya back,,,,somewhere,,,,,I dunno man haha but ,,sorry i havent replied to yr comment sooner. THANK YOU for the chuckles and tellin teh TRUTH about the stupid hall of fame. ( Del Shannon committed suicide partly cuz of the 'hall of fame'...but anyways) Happy holi'daze' and peace to you. I mean that. "Jenny"
This is off of, " Just Jimmy Reed." I have the original album. My Dad used to play this alot. The origin of Rock and Roll! The whole album is great! It's Jimmy Reed in the studio....
This guy does it to me out of all of them, and there's other really good ones. Far as I can tell, he didn't record a single dog. Not an easy thing to do!
After he says "You Name' em I'll play 'em" the first time, I hear a woman laughing for a millisecond, he might have been feeling fine and dandy and set to bring "a little rain" after the session to whomever the women's voice is that we hear IMHO
yes indeed you may hear a woman's voice in some of his recordings. That is because his wife was usually by his side in the sessions. JImmy had what is now known as epilepsy. ( if im not mistaken) and some thought him to be just another drunken blues man. This was not the case. His wife would sit by him and help him remember the lines and sometimes even sing along a little. So yea most likely you hear her.
wonderful, video dear friend!!!! woow I love this music! I'll take it! and of course a million stars ***** for the road! Thanks my friend, sunny weekend!!!!!! peace! :))

Everytime it gives me the shivers. Here he was a little "joyful", good for him, because a good bluesman must be that way, I say.

Dad introduced me to Jimmy as a child. Appreciate the music even more as an adult. Thanks, for the upload!

This and about 20 other Jimmy Reed tunes are better than any other electric blues ever.

@barkulator I know what you mean. I can't think of any Jimmy Reed song that I can't listen to about 5 or 6 times in a row.

He most likely was drunk. But Jimmy also had Epilepsy but it was not diagnosed until later. But yea...its true...he suffered from alcoholism as well.
