  • about smacking your horse with your hand- I do that too when I don't have a crop! My horse has enough respect for me and a close enough bond to understand that I'm not ever going to hurt him, I just need him to MOVE. :) but, for the record, I do not do it often. I almost always make sure I bring my crop with me.

  • @fortheloveofsimon Agreed. My OTTB is extremely lazy and rather than kick the snot out of his sides, a quick flick of my crop or in cases when I dont have one, my hands or reins, works great. Its called and AID for a reason. To aid in riding.

  • @StainedKisses Right! I use my reins quite often too. Most of the time, all I have to do is gather them in one hand and he knows to move... I don't even have to flick him with them. My horse is 4, but the laziest, largest 4-year-old you've probably ever seen. xP

  • 0:10 HAI... xD Love that pony. Ouch, looked like it hurt :(

  • Holy chiz! but ur guys are an AMAZING team!!

  • lol

  • Ouchie! You're a really good rider. That Looked painful I've fell like that Haha But I Was coming To a Jump and the Horse Refused and It slang me across the jump on my back. I Hit hard. But i was ok Haha!

  • Oh my gosh. Can i use this in one of my videos? this is crazy. your name will, of cause, be on it

  • @sunnyydelight18 Because, it proves that you still have the will and strength to get back on the horse. And you learn from your mistakes, so whatever made you fall, you can fix and not fall from that reason again. But I fell off almost two weeks after posting that comment, best first fall ever. (Even though you aren't supposed to LIKE falling off the horse) I thought it was hilarious because my Dad or sister didn't even see it ! Getting right back on was all I did.

  • The horse quite clearly at the start did a grumpy buck so the rider quite rightfully told it off for it. So go learn back and learn about horsemanship before you come back here and criticise someone elevates riding

  • Omg that looked sore and nice horse to and I have a thoroughbred cross :L Your a good rider

  • Ow

  • Ouch! lovely horse though and glad both are okay! :) Wish my thoroughbred would trot over jumps when I ask him too! lol xx

  • Ouch! Hope you and that lovely horse were okay :D x x x x

  • Well, its what you get for smackin him! Lol! JK! I mean, thats what I think some horses would do! Your a really great jumper! Dont give up and I hope your back is better!

  • ....and I thought I had some pretty nasty falls...

  • hes scared of white jumps...he has white boots on awks

  • Ouch!!

Thagt looks like that hurt loads!!! Did ypu not breake anything?! Ans you where doing so well aswell!!!!!

  • Ouch... are you feeling any better?

  • ouchhh and why are there so many dislikes??? your trainer sounds very knowledgable :) hope that doesnt happen to you and your horse again!!! scary!!!

  • @icehorse91 There is so many dislikes because of the fact that she is whipping the CRAP out of that poor horse

  • @XoJumpBigoX She's giving him a little hit with her hand? These are big animals, a little hit won't affect them in any way? It's better then a crop?

  • @iluvmymulechia I didn't reply to you..Did I?

  • did u break anything? i remeber my first fall: pony galloping out of corntrol, my getting trown into wall knee first!

  • My responce to your fall

    OOOH SHIT !

  • I am sorry, but COOLEST FALL EVER. x

  • bloody thoroughbreds!! i had a tb just like this, looks like you need to have a stronger contact/canter so the horse will feel he has enough impulsion and confidence to jump the fence especially if you know its doesnt like certain fences. Also sit back 'anchor' your leg and no dnot lean in any circumstance, try to stay in balance so you dont give the horse any excuses. Also lost of praise when it all goes well :) good luck xx

  • I laughed, too XD

  • omg wow! Tough out ! ♥

  • I had the EXACT same fall except instead of finishing the flip I landed on my face, which looked pretty bad for a few days. I was also in the pasture and it was a tire jump. And for anyone criticizing about leaning forward, everyone makes mistakes. Glad you were okay.

  • Lol good flip XD

  • Corr! That looked painful >.< hope you were ok!

  • @VioletPurple121 The really good" horses you just described sound like push botton riding ponies... Just sayin'.

  • @11and15productions no she doesn't.. You don't have to wear a body protecter, in fact I've been riding for 10 years, ive never worn one and I jump 3'+ all the time..

  • Not trying to be rude but u should be wearing a body protector

  • 1:22 .. =/

  • thats why we sit up when we ride and go into a fence, not lean forward or when your horse stops - thats the result

  • new form of flip

  • can i use this for a horse video i'm making? credit in the vid and description andd i'll send you the link when i'm done? :) xx

  • aww hope your okayy :),, not trying to be nasty or anything but you seemed to be leaning forwards quite a bit?? x

  • Iff he was *TERRIFIED* of white jumps he wouldnt have jumped the grid :/ ??

    /

  • honestly for a moment I thought the video was going in reverse, then I realized the horse was getting back up

  • Ouch! You looked great during the rest of the time. btw the indoor riding arena your in is gorgeous!

  • Ouch, I thought you were going to land like a foot off the ground then the horses head was close to the ground, you looked great doing the rest if the course though :)

  • imagine doing that and landing on a pole from a 17.2hh horse... ouchh

  • im not wearing nice clothes to the barn again. (;

  • aww you were doing great, hope your ok x

  • Oh my gosh. That looked PAINFUL! Your coach: 'Oh my gosh!'

Well I hope there was no long term damage! And be thankful you didn't land on the poles xD

  • wow that was a might painful back fall, sorry it happened and glad you both are okay. lol

  • SMACK! that looked and sounded like it hurt so bad that i could feel the pain! of course, not as much as you did! (just so you know im not a jumper, i am acutally a western girl, but you looked pretty good on the others!) ouchy mama!

  • Skip 2 1:18 for d fall

  • lol, actually a smack with the hand is much less painful than a smack with a crop.

  • LOL!LOL!LOL! I'm sorry, but that is hilarious!xD

  • Wow I'm sorry... but I laughed. I am going to hell :')

  • That... Was... Awesome... It happens to all of us! ;)

  • owww...

  • I bet that hurt! Dang! that was an awsome fall! Hope your okay tho lol!!!

  • Hey, that's a lucky fall to some of the other ones. But nice job:) The more falls you have, the better rider you become. That's why I'm concerned....(I haven't fallen...ever...) But if you look closely, you almost pause in mid-air ;)

  • @Wildsky123 I have never fallen either lol, I'm nervous about that hahaha

  • @Wildsky123 Just out of curiosity, why do you think falling makes you a better rider?

  • Good fall (; You probably wouldn't have fallen off if he hadn't scooted back like that! Some people don't think they're horse will ever ever stop and go in two point 5 strides before the fence, then they're pretty much asking to fall off, but you just got catapulted off, ouchies! Hope your ok!

  • No matter what horse you ride, you should always carry a bat. He needs to RESPOND. Just shows what a rider you are. You should be able to control the horse you ride. If not, you need to ride other horses. Remember to always GIVE if you do give a smack. Christ, you're so lucky you got your feet out of those stirrups considering that they were far home. I could care less if a horse is afraid of jumps. They need to go over, no matter what. <--this is why you carry a bat. I'm sure you've improved.

  • @horseysoar but, you dont want to horse to take it the wrong way. if its a jumpy horse that doesnt need that and doesnt like that, they might begin to make a connection with it and be even more scared of the jump. you have to just get the horse to understand that its not scarey at all.

  • @VioletPurple121 Not at all, if they refuse there are NO exceptions. Just like if horse that is chipping in too much(NOT listening to your leg). They need a good smack and need to listen to your leg. If the horse does not move off your leg, it needs a hard smack right behind your leg. The horse will think, "if I don't listen to the leg, a smack follows." Obviously he probably doesn't stop at every single jump. You'd only smack him when you feel him not listening to your leg.

  • @horseysoar if thats what you wanna say. but all the horses i know would spook, it wouldnt help AT ALL. but they are really good horses and i bet would do anything you want them to do. (the horses i ride) ;)

  • @VioletPurple121 Exactly, they are really good horses ^_^ lol. Try to ride a dirty stopper or something that's not 'a really good horse' and you'll be in for a huge surprise ;) A whip is a VERY useful tool. It can aid in teaching the horse to move off your leg or to leg yield. Whips aren't just to make the horse go faster :)

  • @horseysoar you say and think what you want, and i will say and think what I want. i am speaking through MY experience. not YOURS. ok?

  • @VioletPurple121 Sure, your experience is so small. You just basically said before that you have never experienced this sort of thing. Ignorant.

  • @horseysoar i watch enough to learn. i go to competions,i watch lessons, i go on youtube. i know enough

  • @VioletPurple121 you can't learn anything from youtube.... there are people on here who know nothing about horses but post videos like they do... watching does NOT give you as much experience as actually doing something.

  • @horseysoar whatever you say "expert" person. ;)

  • can i please use this video for a fails video i am making i will credit you

  • Ow.

  • GUYS she doesn't want your help with her riding ! OKAY ? Gosh stop saying it's her fault , noone in the Equestrian world is perfect and we all have our falls and days, don't say anything rude unless your perfect.

  • @Pattonsgirlforever hehe ino those days i was out on my horse Elvis doin some jumps and yanoo walk trot canter gallop and i fell off 10 times in around eww i duno at max 20 mins no i at home with ice on my broken knee cap but still goin out tomarro lol it might b a goo idea...aaaa welll steripless will have to do hehe

  • @cupcake5309 - I am amazed you still are riding, you go girl (: I know what you mean, I almost broke my arm falling off this pony, she was so mean D:

  • @Pattonsgirlforever ino it hurts but il have to get over it should be better in aroun 4 weeks cant wait lol!!

  • and never wear white to the barn/riding..lol

  • OMG sit up!!! just because your hunter doesn't mean you have put weight on the horses front end!!!!!!!

  • you tow pointed to herley so its your falt

  • let me save you guys a minute and 29 seconds of your life. skip to 1:20

  • The horse didn't even notice when she hit him with her hand. It looked like a really painfull fall. Accidents happen. We learn from our mistakes. I'm glad both her and her horse are alright.

  • holy shit D:

  • superwoman!

  • @ClareRarely21 i'm pretty sure the horse is fine after all it didn't show any signs of it being in pain.....and its a big diffrence between a young girl and a grown man (you should know that). also, squeezing with your knees wouldn't help, squeezing with your thighs and calfs would help.

  • he was trying to save her by pulling up, but he was already to far on his knees & she was already too far off. you have a pretty horse & i can tell he trust you.

  • About the snack yes I agree with what KindaPenguinLike said cause smacking a horse isn't nice the other day I watched a man train his horse too dance and he kept hiring her hard like the hit bounced around the place and his horse kicked him cause of that ( I'm not joking )! And the fall isn't so bad there's been way worse falls than that and I know u have a trainer but when you should prob squeeze with your knees more it helps

  • well for a start she could have worn a protective vest? - no, i'm not some critical douche. I've been riding horses for 14 years now.

Horseback riding is the second most dangerous sport, so it's not just something you do without protecting yourself, and the horse.

About the smack, yes, let it go. - Altho it's a well known fact that horses should be stroked gently on the skin, and not smacked, cause a smack is not naturally a positive thing in the animal kingdom.

  • @KindaPenguinLike Okay, so next time my horse won't move forward and we're in danger of not being able to make it over the jump I'll GENTLY STROKE HIM, and he'll move for me, right? No, sometimes they need to be reminded of their jobs, and sometimes that involves a tap or a smack.

And actually, a tap on the hindquarters IS perfectly natural; it simulates in the wild when the herd leader nips the slow horses on the hindquarters to get them to keep up with the herd.

  • @SolarFlare67 i meant as a friendly gesture. A smack is never a friendly gesture.

And in fact yes, a tap or a smack is not needed. If you spend enough time with your horse, training it and gaining its trust, it won't be needed.

Besides, jumping isn't a natural thing for the horse in the first place. It's always the last way out.

The horse loves to please you, so of course it will jump, but in the nature it wouldn't be first choice.

  • @KindaPenguinLike Because in nature horses' lives are perfect and they are never forced to work or run from predators, right? Each horse has a job, it's just like with humans. Is it natural for a man to sit at a desk hunched over a computer all day? No, but they have to do it to make a living. It's the same for horses (though there are exceptions)

Don't get me wrong; I love my horses, and they are treated like royalty. But they still have to do their jobs. Taps DO NOT hurt the horse whatsoever.

  • @SolarFlare67 Never said they hurt the horse. Never said they don't have to run from predators either.

First, read what i write, and then post a respond, so i don't have to repeat myself :)

The horse is not hurt, no. But just like with dogs, it's easier to train the horse if you praise it for it's rights (but still put yourself in respect) than scold it for it's wrongs.

  • @SolarFlare67 Like i said in my first comment "yes, let the whole smack thing go, although it's common knowledge that you're better off with a stroke."

Never said it would hurt the horse, but praising behavior is better.

Besides, horses will naturally avoid jumps in nature, unless there's no other option. Jumping like this isn't something the horse does cause it thinks it's fun. The horse does it cause it's eager to please you. If a jump is what it takes, it will do it's best.

  • @KindaPenguinLike Actually some horses like jumping; mine will run around his pasture jumping logs and boulders just for kicks. But yes, you're right, most horses don't naturally jump.

What would a stroke do when a horse isn't moving forward? Nothing. Give it a tap and when it moves forward, sure, then praise it. I just meant that taps are a reminder of their jobs, not cruel or unnecessary.

I understand and know that praising /is/ better. But sometimes negative reinforcement is necessary.

  • oh wow!!! that looked soooooo painful!! i hope you where okay!!

  • 1 word OW!

  • ah man. you got your white jacket all dirty ):

  • @grayponylove note to meself, never wear a white jacket while riding a horse. ;)

  • @VioletPurple121 haha. more like never wear a jacket to the barn. hahaa.

  • I had a fall off my friends horse (he had nothing on like no halter or anything and I didn't have any protection like my helmet) and when she hopped me on (I've done it before but this time she threw me on) he moved and I ended up on his butt and he took off and I just let go and landed straight on my back and I still have trouble sometime! Is was like May 28 I think but good luck with your back!!

  • That is not a bad fall thankfully for you.

  • Why did you slap your horse at the beginning? He was trying to make a nice walk --- canter transition for you. You should have let him canter and slowed him to a trot instead of hitting him, because now he thinks that was wrong when really that is something great.

  • Hehe funny (:

  • ouch, he like reared u upwards then BAM! u went down. i'm just glad u and the horse are ok. btw i sometimes hit my horse with my hand and a crop. nothing bad about it

  • shit that looked painful, sounded like you came down really hard!

  • Horses are tough animals.. we use spurs and crops, hands are better than crops-its a proven fact!

  • Well besides the fall, you look really good on him. My only suggestion is to sit back a little more when you canter. I know with me holding onto mane, which Im not saying you did will throw your balance off and cause you to lean forward more.

  • can i use this video? will give credit

  • Ow that looked like it hurt REALLY bad.... I hope Your Back feels better!!!!! Your horse is VERY pretty by the way..

  • wow.. you have an extrodinary seat. im impressed. ohh man, that is a bad fall.

  • ouch =( tht looked painful but u still look and ride like a skilled rider =) no fence...but th persn who was filming needs to work on their camera skills

  • Pause at 1:20... HEHE

  • Your a really good rider despite that fall but shit happens right? no big deal. ;) and yes Thoroughbreds lol i have one and he can be quite the little turd ;)

  • hhaha hehe my pney is a welsh/TB croos. hes sooo crazy. lawlzs. :) :D.

  • shit! that looked like it hurt!

  • OMFG! when horses play they rip and bite of eachothers skin and you guys think that a little smack on his butt will hurt him? get some experience on how horses actually lives, and no, i don't mean watching your poor horse standing in a tiny paddock with 4 blankets on, i mean in herds in big fields.

  • @LoveHazienda yep

  • Epic (;

  • lolz at people saying the smack was abuse.

  • everyone, please understand that the smack was no harm to him. if it was, i would be off that fucking horse in 3 seconds and my trainer would kick me off. She has been schooling horses her whole life and i was currently work on him at the time. He is a wonderful horse but was very green at the time. i am fine, everything is good. he is perfectly fine and healthy. thank you for the people defending, much appreciated.

  • damn! im sorry but thats cool how u feel! but i hope ur okay! great jumping!

  • Shit that must of hurt, but what a way to come off! Hope you are were ok! XD

  • Can I use this please?

  • @Donkeytricks yep

  • The crop is used as a back up to the leg aids if the horse decides to ignore the legs, which is exactly what this rider did. That looked fun, you flipped :D

  • OW! I've done this before exept after the fall i landed like that and got dragged! And my horse is sooo lazy too! I usally don't use a crop so my hand is my crop! lol!

  • oh my jezus that musta knocked the wind outta ya! I'm just glad you landed flat on your back and not ur neck!!! O.o

  • that looked really sore hope you are okay but it looked a little like you were leaning forward which isnt meant to happen and that caused you to fall off im not saying it was bad i know it happens me sometimes its hard when your concentrating on getting the horse into a good pace for the jump :) xx

  • oww that looked sore :/

  • If you honestly think smacking a horse with your hand is going to hurt him at all, you either know nothing about horses, are over-sensitive or have never ridden anything besides a push button.

That must've hurt bad though! :S

  • wow the horse saw your face and went ahh oh its you lolz i think smacking a horse with a crop is not needed but BUT i use one so i cant say its nasty and im not it is to me an extension of the human arm so if you would not smack with your hand then you dont use the whip the same way

  • your camera person is kinda retarded haha.

  • OUCH. Hope your ok.

  • this barn looks familar?

  • owww!! r u ok?? that wuld of killed... :( ive had something like that but i was very very VERY lucky.. an my horse saved me :) but omg i hope your ok?? :(

  • it is not fucking cruel you stupid idiots if the horse isnt listening to your leg you use the crop ot your hand to reinforce it was her trainer yelling at her for it my trainer say if the horse doesnt listen smack him/hir as hard as you can it doesnt hurt. you stupid people probably dont even know howw to ride a flipping horse and havent even touched one either. so if you want to call it abuse or cruelty get on a fucking horse first

  • @missbadpony111 you are a bitch so shut and read the other comennets the say it crul too so hahahaha bitch

  • I always find that the worst falls are the ones when you aaalmost stay on! If you'd have slipped either a little MORE forward, or a little less you wouldn't have been flung by his head! wicked cool you got it on tape, glad youre ok :)

  • more like biggest 100th fall on youtube

  • she was leaning way too far forward and her hands were too low and her stirp was so far down her foot it helps to be nearer the toe ~just saying~

  • you have to give a horse a smack once in a while.. they get too wound up and can kill. they might be animals but they need discipline..

  • "Next biggest fall on youtube?"

    Let me think...

    Nope, not even close. :D

  • @ladyunicorngarden "ladyunicorngarden"?

    let me think...

yeah, cool name you got there bro.

  • ouch were u ok? that has happened to me, not my horses fault though

  • @Madlibs1220 I personally don't use a whips to make my horse move or go faster; all of that begins with ground work, and once you've got it down with ground work, it becomes much easier under saddle. I have, however, used crops and whips while on the ground when I come close to getting hurt. I don't weigh much over 100#; so, they can hurt me A LOT easier than I could ever hurt them. Using a crop/whip would be no different than using my hand; it only adds length to my arm.

  • from personaly experiance ,as an equestrian, i use a crop because well my horse is a lazey bones but thats ok the crop dossent hurt it just reinforceses the leg . when she slaped her horse it was because he was dissobeying to move forward i doubt that it hurt him. it just made a loud noise. but that fall oh wow that sounded like it hurt D: but there are two types of ridders those who have ffallen and those who will

  • For those who all comment on how thin a horse's skin is and etc., I'm sure she realizes that. Anyone who has any horse sense at all realizes that, but what they should also realize is how horses play. Horses bite and kick each other all the time and a lot harder than any human could hit with ones hand. Ever take that into account? You can CLEARLY see she did absolutely no harm to that horse; it never phased him. He's fine and so is she. That's what matters most =)

  • @MsVet2b I totally agree 100% my instructor, who has won national dressage championships, anyways, when I didn't want to hurt my horse, she would tell me that no matter how hfard I hit the horse, it cann't hurt them. I believe everyone has heard the pharse, "horse play" yeah well it's true, horses bit and kick all the time in the feilds, weather they are playing or fighting. So your competely right. I just want everyone to see that it's not just you.

  • fuck you... dont hit ur horse

ouch is my reaction.. not for u but for the horse

  • @maisie1081 freak, the horse was fine, the rider got hurt

  • @maisie1081 smacking a horse is yes bad but it is not hurting him/her i know this cause i do parelli with a stick! which you use as and exstention of your arm do you cup your hand and smack them yes people do so a whip or crop is pretty much a peice of your hand ok!

  • @just because

First, the research I'm referring to is in relation to the sensitive nature of a horse's skin. There are far more nerve receptors in horse skin than in human, So, implying that 'hitting a horse with a crop doesn't hurt them because they are thick skinned' is incorrect.

Secondly, emotional control encompasses much more than simply being able to remain on horseback when afraid. Remember,- a riders most important training aid is their brain (=problem solving skills/patience).

  • Mate your horse was miffed the second you put him in canter, i'd get that sorted before jumping,

  • bloody hell ouch!

  • Oh, that must hurt. But she didnt need to hit the horse........

  • omg. your back..that was actually really scary D: but so cool how you guys had that on video. i wish my fall was on video it was pretty bad too, i didnt land on my back i went head first into the wall and slid down and landed on my head, luckily i was wearing a helmet, my horse was actually down on the ground beside me, we were both ok besides a cut on him, a concussion on me and a few bruises..glad your ok!

  • Horse hides are actually quite thin, and a horse's skin is 100 times more sensitive than a humans. Do your research.

Hitting a horse with hand or crop only demonstrated a lack of emotional control in the rider.

Blaming a horse is the same as blaming a child when the parent is uneducated/impatient or lacks experience.

Perhaps look to your own skill as a rider and seek to make improvements there.

  • @h20phoenixX Hitting a horse with your hand or crop is not only demonstrated lack of emotional control in the rider. If that was the case, then crops would not be used. A crop is a tool used to correct the horse. The rider in this situation did not have a crop, therefore she used her hand. If the horse was in severe pain from the rider hitting it, it would have reacted. It still refused the jump, therefore it wasn't that afraid of misbehaving. Props to the rider, good job!

  • @h20phoenixX ok, so maybe horses hides are thick, maybe they are thin. but that wack was WAY softer than what horses would do to eachother in an argument kicking and biting is worse than a wack, so regardless of what you think of 'hitting' a horse, a hit like that doesn't trouble the horse at all.

  • YOU SUCK! Honestly if that rider can't get her horse to canter... y is she jumping, she was leaning up the neck w/ no leg on... if i were that horse i would have stopped a lot sooner!

  • @MsMynameisavatar Oh my gosh really? yeah because I'm going to take this comment to heart right...take a lap buuddd.

  • @MsMynameisavatar

At least she has a good jumping position, and had the guts to give it ago!

  • @MsMynameisavatar Hehe like (:

  • Horses hides are about half an inch thick, the horse barely felt that...I feel like she handled that well...My horse has bucking problems and if that little tap bothers you, than you should see what he gets when he's being a little dink.
