I was in the military in the 80's with my flat top haircut I was a bit against the grain but that was the times I was lucky enough to see them a few times along with SLF, and the Clash. very poignant. song for me.
I first listened to this song years ago while I was about to go into the army ( I had signed the papers, just waiting for my call up date),I had been on the dole for about a year and decided to join the army rather than waste away in my home town. When I heard the song/lyrics it drove a shiver through my spine.
I thank the Barrel Organ in Birmingham (UK) many years ago, for introducing me to Spear of Destiny...I became an instant fan...20 something years later, i still have a crush on Kirk Brandon...this being one of my favourite songs. Although i have never lost anyone to a war, i'm beginning to think it's only a matter of time.....thanks so much for posting this... x
Been searching for this for ages, thanks for posting, top quality song. You don't happen to have the 12" version of 'Jack Straw' by any chance as well, do you'?
The swastica that the punks wore...yes, it's an ancient sun symbol, popular at the time when all cultures were worshiping the sun in that area and the middle east. In fact the dieties (In this order of 2500 years) were ISIS then the God Ra (as in Ra Tut) and then EL the Hebrew God. They all worshipped the Sun, had their symbols and it's where the land Palestine was renamed after them ISIS RA &EL. ISRAEL.
Most powerful lyrics I've ever known.... truly great song!
Thanks for uploading!
