WTF KIND OF TAKE OF WAS THAT HAHAAAHAH I COULDNT STOP LAUGHING!!!!! HAHAAHAHAA I WAS JUST LIKE GIVE UP DUDE JUST CUT THE POWER! YOUR SPINNING OUT OF CONTROL HAHAHAHAAH!!!
These RC Pulse Jets are legal now in Australia if you can find a club that will accept the noise. You must join the club then the P,J,A,A club ,only about $20 I think. Then fill out the new papper work (2011) as on the M,A,A,A site. One is about to fly in Queensland all legal. My German one can fly now I just can not find a club that will accept the noise yet. With a top speed of about 350kph I need a Gold wing pilot for mine.
@chonyc77 You do what you want with your ass -- but I'm afraid that kind of thing holds no attraction for me. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Be careful with sharp objects.
Where can I buy one of these, do they come as a full set (plane and pulse jet) or do you have to buy the plane in addition to the jet, also are these aircraft legal in Australia?
@Lonewolf2201 The model was a cheap Chinese ARF and I built the engine myself. Yes they're legal in Australia but I don't know if they're covered by your MAA insurance.
Remember seeing one on a very small control line model. Speeds were horrendous and it looked like the pilot in the centre of it all was doing the hammerthrow! :) In Australia we now have to jump through hurdles to use them, too noisy, a fire risk blah blah!
I just put this out there, if you make the nose gear taller, it will increase the angle of attack. At the moment, all that power is just driving the nose down, and the wing never gets a change to create lift ?
I dont know if you have thought about this, but why the hell dont you make your nosewheel turn a little slower? i mean in all your videos, you turn your (Very nice!) long EZ and it just liek BOOM one side of the runway wo BOOM the other side, i really think it would make the takeoff's a lot easier!
Just a thought from me, apart from that, i REALLY like your pulsejet designs, it really looks great and i like your way of describing things so it is understanable :D
I know it looks as if there's a lot of throw on the nosewheel but actually there's very little. The Long-EZ is simply not very stable on the ground with such a high thrustline. There's a lot of load on the noseleg when taking off and that causes it to bend when you apply any steering correction -- that bending effectively adds to the steering input. I think the solution might be to move the main-gear further forward, this would also help with rotation. I'm planning to try that.
@xjet If the nose wire leg is trailing backward, then the wheel will be unstable with wire flex. If it goes forward, then it is stable. Learned this making wing dollies for FS gliders. Basically, if the wheel goes to one side, a leading angle makes it steer back toward center, while a trailing condition makes it want to diverge.

@xjet Is it the thrust angle that wrong here? But yeah, it's going fast enough that the over steering effect is aerodynamic at that speed on the ground.
No, I cut the engine because I was running out of runway. When I cut the engine, there was nothing holding the plane on the ground any more so it took off.
Yes, I've seen them before...very interesting. Something different for a change though I suppose a delta type plane would complement your pj12+ better.

hold on, can you control the throttle controls with a pulse jet engine?
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
This is a simple engine with an atomizer which means you can't throttle it. If you use a fuel-pump and direct injection you can gain a measure of throttle control but on a model this size, the additional weight of the pump and battery make it less practical.
xjet 3 years ago
oh wow so the only power option is full or none!
