@MovingUpp But how old is it in CAT YEARS? That makes a difference. You may be dealing with a middle-aged cat, in which case the comparison is unfair.
My cat used to play better than anyone, but I had to have it declawed. It kept scratching. I told it, "Hey, this isn't rap music, if you wanna play that chit, not in here!"

lol, I learned this piece as a 16 year old after I got my grade 8. As far as my school was concerned I was a prodigy even at that age, so this girl has got it all ahead. Wow!
Does anyone know this little angel's last name, or where she's from? This was in 2007, when "Rachel" was 9 years old. Would be interesting to follow her as she matures. She's incredibly talented, amazingly skilled for such a young age. I wish her every success...........
Her name is Xu Siyu in Chinese. She won a contest soon after this video which allowed her to play Carnagie Hall at 10. I believe she did do that at 11 years old, since she visited New York. But I just think: If a very young kid like her can play as good as she does she must practice a few hours a day. And thats not the nature of a kid to sit a few hours at the piano. They want to jump, run, play games, so her parents must push her. and then they often parade her like a show monkey.
You people all brag about how you could play this only 2-3 years of learning piano well guess what??? nobody gives a fuck this thread is to comment on her not what you can do, if u wanna get comments and brag then upload your own video.
Bravo! The stop in the first measure is too abrupt. Over the years, mothers and fathers have told me in our casual conversations out of their own initiative that it's so heavenly to see their young children play at their pianos, mostly Chopin. Their performance is mediocre by the secular standard, but their parents all see it entirely differently. Remember President Truman's reaction when one commentator wrote a negative review on his daughter's performance of Mozart's "Hallelujah?"
This is truly amazing. She is probably only 6 or 7, and the expression and feeling she has for the music is completely beyond what would be expected for one so young. I have seen good young pianist that have the technical skills, but play like a player piano, without any feel for it. And about the pedal, she can barely reach it. That's why she is sitting at the edge of the bench. Sheer genius, I say. After 3 years of playing piano I also was playing at this level, but I started at age 18.
Excellent finger technique, but music feeleng is terrible. But, she is also too young to be able to feel music. Anyway, I recommend some non American (e.g. non-shit) teacher for her.
Wow! This is amazing! I'm playing this song too cuz my mom, who is my piano teacher, assigned it to me but I'm older..going into eighth grade next month..ha ha.
I understand that she is young. And i just made a tip with musician's point. In her age, it is totally awesome, and i just wanted her to improve more to be perfect. Anyway thanks for letting me know.
Quite a nice job for a little lady. In my mind, the Trio is one of the most beautiful pieces of music. Some of the comments you'll read here are important. It must be played a little faster, but more importantly, you must soften the accompaniment (the chords) and bring out that exquisitie melody line. Also, this section is marked with many crescendos and decrescendos. Listen to Zimerman and Rubenstein play this section. You'll get the idea. Keep up the good work
Julius Caesar and FrederickChopinPiano, can you both just stop stereotyping and labeling people?! It's getting annoying how people judge others just by their race.
I agree with Julius Caesar, Asians will never be able to play classical as well as Whites, it is just not their ancestral heritage. Sorry, but thats the way it is, maybe they should go back to tribal flute and gongs.
i know! I'm asian and i play piano, so that really offended me! he's a racist b****! oh yea, i play flute too, but still. i also played the gong for a chinese lion and dragon dance. wierd. FrederickChopinPiano should shut the f*** up!
She must have put in many hours of practice. According to Malcom Gladwell in "Outliers" it takes about 10,000 hours to become concert quality. She's on her way and good for her.
I don't remember where he got the number and I gave the book to my granddaughter so I can't look it up. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend all three of his books, "Tipping Point", "Blink", and "Outliers". That's the order in which they were written. I'm sure your local library has copies.
Her style is not connected enough and in some places it is too heavy. In addition, at 1:20, the left hand is the melody, yet she plays the right hand louder than the left hand. Very good, though, for someone her age.
Não sei se você entende, o português, mas quero que você saiba que sou sua fã,você é maravilhosa!!! Um abraço carinhoso da Márcia Regina...sua amiga no youtube, sua fã de coração!
well im 14, and im VERY glad that my dad kept pushing me to do piano, even though i hated it as a child...im in love with it right now, and appreciate it oh so much =P classical music is my life :) thank youuu, father! hah.
Not all kids are pushed. I had to beg my parents to let me take lessons, and they got us a piano. I'm sorry I didn't work harder with it, tried to take it up again off and on.. This little girl is very good, only heard one little mistake plus she a little heavy on the keys, but hey she's just a kid and darn good. Then I wanted to learn to play with the other method by ear and learning the chords, just didn't have the talent for it; it takes practice, too.
Excellent..I am pushing on and off on my kids on piano and others. As a parent, we have to try to push(as long it is working for both) kids in the good direction and give them support even though they might not like it at the beginning. Music is great for them and hopefully they will appreciate and can go back and play whenever they want in life. parent should push kids in good activies not only just piano. I don';t think it is WHITE and ASIAN thing but we should encourage and support them.
You have to be very careful about pushing. You can sometimes do irrepairable damage by coersion or forced labour. If the child does not like it or is resentful after a certain amount of persuasion then something is wrong and one should use discretion or incertain cases stop!!!
Hah, that was my Dad on my account. So you can't really tell him what to do because we are on the computer most of the time so he makes us go off and play some piano. And just to let you know he's not pushing pushing he just goes, "Get off the computer and play some piano." in a nice way LOL

Ist die Machden Weiss?
Nien die Machden ist nicht Weiss, die Machden ist gelben
I could easily play Schubert, he was Austrian. Little Aasian baby ist gut at paino for her parents force her to play. She has no natural born talent. A high LLI ranking due to her ethnicity.
I agree with you in a way but as many children she may play piano because her parents forced her and not by herself (children want to play not being great musicians)
she's so little that she could be a doll! wonderful, this kid is a lot talented. With 10 years of studying I think other people maybe couldn't reach this level. I think asian people are more intelligent that us, european. It's true, guys.
I'm sorry that this "terrible" interpretation by this little girl kills you inside. How much life experience could she have in 6 or 7 years? Instead of criticizing something she lacks by no fault of her own, let's congratulate her on what she has achieved: a solid technical foundation that can be shaped into masterful phrasing. I doubt your life experience will ever allow you to be shaped into a talented pianist. It certainly seems to have made you a critical adult of a child though.
@angelbloodlsk From her body language and smiling there is no way this can be torture. She obviously loves what she's doing. She is an extremely talented child.
Good thing if her parents are pushing her this hard. Shes gonna be a lot richer then the gamers here who post negative comments because their paents never pushed them
she's a kid for gods sake. Stop being judmental. Just be amazed for the fact that she can play much much much better than you and its not because asian people force their kids. So does the WHITE people force their kids. The only diff i think asians are smarter and they understand more than the white kids. Thats about all..
@Natashah83 lol you are so stupid. "asians are smarter than white kids" that doesen't mean anything. anything. this little girl is an excpetion. most of the " little asians " that i 've seen on youtube are not as good as she is. anyway if you count the big names in classical music you'll see that asians are not numerous at all. the reason why you see more asians on youtube than white people it's just because they attached much more importance to a musical education than white people.
@gouloum2222 no but seriously my 12 year old cousin and his mates here still have difficulty reading from the book whilst my 6 year old cousin from Nepal can read the headline on the telly fluently. Now don't go saying my cousin is stupid and his mates too cuz i've noticed a lot of schools here can't really scold kids and instead the kids bully them.
@adam2004138 no no im not angry im being serious! you should put the 7th or whatever school grade students from either nepal or india n britain together n you will get amazed as well. seriously try it..
ps: if you do, don't cheat by putting the uneducated ones from the villages! People are tryin to educate them though!

ugh, i get really pissed off when i see these types of vids, (and i know some jackass is gonna say "then don't watch them") but do you notice how all of these little children are asian?! wtf, srsly, it's really annoying how these chinese parents try to make their children some type of musical prodigy, it's so fuckin annoying, these kids practice like 3-8 hours a day, and most of them are not even talented! i get infuriated by these ppl! they think theyre better than everyone else but theyre not!
Shmalex888...you have no clue whatsoever.....the nationality and the race in this situation don't mean a THING.....just enjoy, it is a priviledge to listen to them playing, not an occasion to get bitter and mean....
the beginning is good. However, the middle section is quite off. I think the rythem is not correct. the left hand chords need more work on it to get them correct. You have to know that the middle section is the most beautiful part of the piece and should be quite "Chopinisque". The last part is OK but sounded a little bit tired.
You had fun & did a great job. Those were really nice descending arpeggios.
In the middle section, try to get the chords, much softer. Not much needs to be changed. As you practice the middle, set the metronome up a couple of notches, until you are playing just a little slower than the rest of the piece. I liked the way you let it sing, even at the slow tempo. Keep having fun. I had fun listening to you play. And you made it all the way through the piece! good, good. Very nice playing.
great job for someone so young. just work on a couple of things the other comments have said so i wont say em. great job for your age. congrats. this is a hard piece and just getting through it can be quite the challenge for most people.
Good grief. All the people here talking about how to improve this piece should chill. She's just a very talented kid playing for fun and at this age she probably has little concept of all the artistic nuances.
I'm sure Franz Schubert would approve. Give it a rest.
it is impressive to see someone so young playing this song, but there are still a lot of things to improve. First of all, when you get to the second section of this piece, it is going quite a bit too slow. Also, when you get to bar 47 on the second page, you need to bring out the left hand WAY more, it has the melody and has a beautiful line that needs to be brought out. Then at bar 72, you need to try to bring out pretty much just the top note in the right hand, there's a lot of thumb going on.
Wow. She must have started when she was 3 or something, and practiced at least an hour a day. I started piano when I was 6, and I'm only learning how to play this now.
Wonderful. In fact a Wunderkind!! Unbelievable and moving to see such a young person playing Schubert like this. Tremendous. Well done. Quite lyrical and poignanat I loved it.
Woah...<< Know what they say about starting early, eh? Well.. I can't really say much, =P I don't know much about piano styles or such..but that was great..lol, =) wonderful...lol ^^. Lol, aw, the smile at the end..
wow...very well played...I struggle with this impromptu so I don't even play it...but you play it well. (could be a little faster, lighter and happier; the middle passage is a little too morbid and heavy, like walking through knee high mud in wellies that are too big for you)...but excellent otherwise!!

Over the years, mothers and fathers have told me in our casual conversations out of their own initiative that it's so heavenly to see their young children play at their pianos, mostly Chopin. Their performance is mediocre by the secular standard, but their parents all see it entirely differently. Remember President Truman's reaction when one commentator wrote a negative review on his daughter's performance of Mozart's "Hallelujah?"

i learned 4 years piano and now im able to play it!!
jessyuan 2 years ago
A few things:
1. work on when to push the pedal
2. a few errors that'll get better as you play the song more and perform more. keep playing it and don't forget it!
3. Otherwise very good for your age!
lraoux 2 years ago
This is truly amazing. She is probably only 6 or 7, and the expression and feeling she has for the music is completely beyond what would be expected for one so young. I have seen good young pianist that have the technical skills, but play like a player piano, without any feel for it. And about the pedal, she can barely reach it. That's why she is sitting at the edge of the bench. Sheer genius, I say. After 3 years of playing piano I also was playing at this level, but I started at age 18.
LiztheLark 2 years ago
this is very good for your age, but this is supposed to be a romantic type of song and u should soften your notes using the left pedal.

Excellent finger technique, but music feeleng is terrible. But, she is also too young to be able to feel music. Anyway, I recommend some non American (e.g. non-shit) teacher for her.

I think your middle part transition is a little bit wrong. You should not play the bottom part that loud. But good try.

Dear Gaselda, Idon't know how old you are, but I have just a question: what did you do, musically speaking, when you were so young?
tarynmongillo 2 years ago
I understand that she is young. And i just made a tip with musician's point. In her age, it is totally awesome, and i just wanted her to improve more to be perfect. Anyway thanks for letting me know.
Gaselda 2 years ago
Quite a nice job for a little lady. In my mind, the Trio is one of the most beautiful pieces of music. Some of the comments you'll read here are important. It must be played a little faster, but more importantly, you must soften the accompaniment (the chords) and bring out that exquisitie melody line. Also, this section is marked with many crescendos and decrescendos. Listen to Zimerman and Rubenstein play this section. You'll get the idea. Keep up the good work

I agree with Julius Caesar, Asians will never be able to play classical as well as Whites, it is just not their ancestral heritage. Sorry, but thats the way it is, maybe they should go back to tribal flute and gongs.

I don't remember where he got the number and I gave the book to my granddaughter so I can't look it up. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend all three of his books, "Tipping Point", "Blink", and "Outliers". That's the order in which they were written. I'm sure your local library has copies.
countrjd 2 years ago
Her style is not connected enough and in some places it is too heavy. In addition, at 1:20, the left hand is the melody, yet she plays the right hand louder than the left hand. Very good, though, for someone her age.

BridgetoSomewhere 2 years ago
Excellent..I am pushing on and off on my kids on piano and others. As a parent, we have to try to push(as long it is working for both) kids in the good direction and give them support even though they might not like it at the beginning. Music is great for them and hopefully they will appreciate and can go back and play whenever they want in life. parent should push kids in good activies not only just piano. I don';t think it is WHITE and ASIAN thing but we should encourage and support them.
StarSaphirre 2 years ago 2
You have to be very careful about pushing. You can sometimes do irrepairable damage by coersion or forced labour. If the child does not like it or is resentful after a certain amount of persuasion then something is wrong and one should use discretion or incertain cases stop!!!
concerto35 2 years ago
Hah, that was my Dad on my account. So you can't really tell him what to do because we are on the computer most of the time so he makes us go off and play some piano. And just to let you know he's not pushing pushing he just goes, "Get off the computer and play some piano." in a nice way LOL
StarSaphirre 2 years ago
Well, if he does it in a nice and understanding way that's fine.

Maybe you should become a barber when you grow up because you're so good at clipping your phrases!
gozhn 3 years ago
I agree with you 100%. The phrase clipping KILLS me inside when i listen to this.
I guess good musicality comes from life experience, which the girl obviously doesn't have.
Sawl 2 years ago
I'm sorry that this "terrible" interpretation by this little girl kills you inside. How much life experience could she have in 6 or 7 years? Instead of criticizing something she lacks by no fault of her own, let's congratulate her on what she has achieved: a solid technical foundation that can be shaped into masterful phrasing. I doubt your life experience will ever allow you to be shaped into a talented pianist. It certainly seems to have made you a critical adult of a child though.

she's a kid for gods sake. Stop being judmental. Just be amazed for the fact that she can play much much much better than you and its not because asian people force their kids. So does the WHITE people force their kids. The only diff i think asians are smarter and they understand more than the white kids. Thats about all..
Natashah83 3 years ago 6
@Natashah83 lol you are so stupid. "asians are smarter than white kids" that doesen't mean anything. anything. this little girl is an excpetion. most of the " little asians " that i 've seen on youtube are not as good as she is. anyway if you count the big names in classical music you'll see that asians are not numerous at all. the reason why you see more asians on youtube than white people it's just because they attached much more importance to a musical education than white people.

the beginning is good. However, the middle section is quite off. I think the rythem is not correct. the left hand chords need more work on it to get them correct. You have to know that the middle section is the most beautiful part of the piece and should be quite "Chopinisque". The last part is OK but sounded a little bit tired.
fyipwang 3 years ago
You had fun & did a great job. Those were really nice descending arpeggios.
In the middle section, try to get the chords, much softer. Not much needs to be changed. As you practice the middle, set the metronome up a couple of notches, until you are playing just a little slower than the rest of the piece. I liked the way you let it sing, even at the slow tempo. Keep having fun. I had fun listening to you play. And you made it all the way through the piece! good, good. Very nice playing.
doggy8dog 3 years ago 2
great job for someone so young. just work on a couple of things the other comments have said so i wont say em. great job for your age. congrats. this is a hard piece and just getting through it can be quite the challenge for most people.
numberone111 3 years ago 2
Good grief. All the people here talking about how to improve this piece should chill. She's just a very talented kid playing for fun and at this age she probably has little concept of all the artistic nuances.

this is awesome!!
but the second section, or midddle section
must be faster.
and the the repeating chords must be much quieter
and the bring out the top notes out more :)
otherwise YOU'RE AMAZING!!!
toocoolkatherine 3 years ago
it is impressive to see someone so young playing this song, but there are still a lot of things to improve.
