  • This is changing my opinion of YouTube - what the hell is going on? Talk about political correctness gone to the extreme - and I thought *I* was an extremist when it came to being politically incorrect!

  • Despite having several views for guests over the last 3 days and receiving several comments or likes/dislikes over the last 3 days, my viewer count has remained the same on all my videos.

This also happened earlier this month.

So this is evidence YouTube is censoring my viewer count to discourage the casual viewer from checking out my channel.

What can be done about this?

  • I agree with Gibbo118, what's wrong with the girls and their bits that wobble? It's a lot more entertaining than the deadheads with jaws that wont stop flappin', that YT promotes. These girls can be quite talented and those from far away places like Japan can lend incite into a culture or give you incentive to learn a foreign language. 'Scuse me while I continue with my AKB48 search now.

  • Bobby! Just one question....did Daisy get far on the skateboard? LOL

  • Thank you. I can feel the truth about YouTube. She feels like a skanky whore that'll do anything, even giggle at you if you pay her. I think it's time to get the hell out of Dodge.

"I never give them hell. I just tell the truth, and they think it's hell." (Harry S. Truman)

  • Hmmm...This is a knotty issue. I think everyone has their own ideas of what censorship is, does, and limits people from knowing. The fear is, in today's climate, the "information age" is king. You can't stop the information (or disinformation in some cases) from getting out. For example I didn't know what vajazzled was until I looked it up. I think the best thing to do, is to categorize vid's with swearing, nudity, so forth...But what if they just censor new leak tv shows, what then?!

  • * Beware lately Google/YOUTUBE has been putting in this code "my_videos?feature=mhee" to censor & block many videos from being viewed. Your video or videos may have this censor/block code secretly attached to it to block views from watching your video? And you may not even know it?

  • Since you put this video up there has been censorship on YouTube but in all the wrong places. I sent a link to my (now ex) gf once and she went mental at me because featured videos beside it included scantily-clad women wiggling their boobs and bums on webcams. Yet a friend of mine got suspended for two weeks because a video she posted showed a flash of side boob. I notice they don't remove offensive cyber bullies either. Their priorities are all wrong.

  • YT has already began a mass campaign to remove user posts regarding psychedelic experiences. In the last two weeks ive observed user posts go from first page, with 50 thumbs up.. then going back in the pages and eventually the comments were removed. check out "dave chappelle mushrooms" and go through the pages. Its my prediction.. that YT next campaign will be to totally obliterate any mind expanding video's. Just remember YT is a company. Its not public domain

  • Censor swearing?! A load of shit! Swearing is part of us all!

YouTube are going get people so pissed they won't evan come back on the site.

    Swearing is everyday life.

I mean as you will all aggree you hear people swearing all the time on every video!

  • basically google and youtube are as bad as one another! you dont hear me fucking swearing

  • @ACTractionLTD There're as bad as Rebecka Black and Justin Biber!

  • @GTAIVFan17 exactly!

  • When you reach old age, 55 they say is it, then there shouldn't be any censorship WHATSOEVER. & Notwithstanding & other Old-People words? So, can the Googling POWERS-THAT-BE create an over 55 years You Tube channel, system, or whatever? I hate the word Portal more than PARADIGM. But ok,call it a Portal.THEN they MUST stop UPLOADER's censoring COMMENTS. A USA right-wing (nut-case) arse-hole just BARRED my excellently worded critical comment! What a bastard & before I've mispoken even once!

  • censorship is a natural progression of commercialism. As something gets more popular the viewing audience gets larger and to keep growing the viewing audience you have to take out the things that will offend. Starting with hardcore porn they'll slowly work their way down to a point where about 3/4 of the population has no problem with youtube but there's still enough sex and swear words to keep it exciting and just a tad bit taboo at times. Why is youtube here? Oh that's right, to make money.

  • I propose that youtube should allow swearing results for people who have signed into their accounts who are old enough to watch.

  • @FoxifiedNutjob I love comments like yours, it's what YouTube is all about. I'm just another dickhead moron disguised as know-it-all, while you want to watch teenage girls waggle their asses. I will quote you, 'censoring girls expressing their bodies'

And you self censor by spelling fuck with a V. And I'm a dickhead?

I do know what the fuck censorship means, I don't think we need girls shaking their asses on youtube because the internet is awash with that already

  • @FoxifiedNutjob your so full of shit man, the point he is trying to make, is, they are censoring out people for swearing, and a lot of the time people swear when they are passionate about something, not just because they are trying to impress or show off like you with your rediculous comment! a lot of the time the people who are passionate about something and swear are the only people with something real to say,, open your eyes and think before you comment. smeeeeeeee

  • They are censoring mine. I had an actual object interfere with mine, and I cannot message many people or put links. They even remotely mess up my laptop.

  • I hate censorship,. period, not just on YouTube, but overall. That's why I never block anyone on YouTube, including haters. Because I believe everyone has a right to an opinion, even complete and utter douchebags. Even if their opinion is lame and pathetic. Plus I like to keep hater comments up so everyone can see how pathetic and ignorant these assholes are. I'm mainly referring to racists, bigots, and homophobes

  • ZIONIST CENSORSHIP!

  • i don't see what's the problem with children hearing swear words, especially used casually. i think underexposure in fact does more harm than exposure.

  • Jesus cunting Christ. The fucking fuckwits fuck every-fucking-thing up. I'm cunting responsible and I fucking dare any fucker to bollock well say otherwise. I don't need fucking faceless corporate whores imposing their shitting victorian ideals onto my cocking freedom of wanking expression. Cunts who let their retarded children trawl the fucking net without shitting supervision shouldn't be sodding surprised if they use that cocking freedom to look at pretty people roughly buggering each other.

  • @jacksawild: That was hilarious.

  • I respectfully disagree Mr Llew! I can only use myself as an example. When I was 12-16 my interest area was talk radio - I wasn't really into mainstream entertainment and even then thought the Jeremy Beadle (showing my age) was an annoying voice over otherwise amusing videos. But for me I preferred political shows and documentaries. I imagine if I were that age now I'd find vlogs like this to be interesting. Then again I've always been a left of centre wet liberal ;)

  • Googleisnt under pressure be the goverment .. its under pressure by his owners. Better saidf by a group of owners holding 46% of Google. This groups is called

    SAUDI ARABIA

Well .. you know ... this bearded sandpeople who like to lash their woman and choping heads

  • @bowman2061 no, Google is a front for the CIA

  • Unbelievable words coming out from the wet liberals month there.

  • It is disheartening that he would endorse censorship in the very same video where he's decrying it.

Different people draw the line of "appropriateness" in different places Mr. Llewellyn, and the entire point you SHOULD have been making was "if you allow anyone's subjective opinion to enter the debate, censorship has taken place."

Person 1 thinks everything except explicit sex is okay. Person 2 thinks anything except nudity is okay. Person 3 thinks implied sexuality is the line.

    Who's right?

  • Fuck shit cunt bollocks wanker prick twat SMEG.

I hope your children read this, Mr. Google.

  • Well well,just a s I thought,You Tube,is censoring everybody who uses YouTube.I bet this comment isnt shown...I wonder why !!!!

  • why is it not ok for people to wag there butts???Im not talking about pornography. What about a breast exam video ??? how would u feel if they censored Cochanskys(misspelled) cleavage on red dwarf? Where do you draw a line?? just becuase u dont like it .why should it be ok for swearing (what u want) but no women shaking butts or bathing suites .I can't believe you said that .!!!!!!

  • what a morron

  • "I love the smell of tofu in the morning"

Apocalypse now would have been a very different film...

  • Go kryten. I totaly agree!

  • Love this guy.

  • Fuck me, what a fucking brilliant piece of shitty video this little fucker is! Gonna tell ma bitches bout this lil basterd

  • "Californian, tofu-eating, and politically correct" Mate, you nailed it!! I live right next-door to California, and you, a Brit, nailed it. That is exactly what I thought.

  • wow that is kryten. please to a short clip with a kryten impression. please please please. bet you dont read this

  • he already has

  • im a kid lol 12

  • youtube will cencor cursing on youtube on comments!

    **** them!

  • For me it is not the content of videos that offend. Like you say - people can avoid those likely to be offensive. It is the comments that let YouTube down. With tens of thousands of words in the English language, why do so many commentators find it hard to post a comment that does not contain the f word? Does it really add to what it is they are trying to say? Are they really incapable of expressing a view unless it features what is probably the most over-used word on YouTube?

  • When people are angry using the f-word relieves some of that anger.

  • They're just words. They don't mean anything.

  • agreed and besides FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS OUR RIGHT

  • Comment removed

  • FUCK FUCK FUCK

  • fuck

  • youtube is being censored by and the illuminati. the ffc is working with the illuminati fuck youtube and ffcc who heck they are they can arrest me for all i care

  • Just click options above the fucking comments and unclick hide profanity

there you go all the fucking shitty ass bad words you would like :)

  • You Tube is without a doubt, Dictator of the Year.

  • PHUCK YOUTUBE!!!!!!!

  • phuck you kunt

  • Fucky-fucky shit-shit ballbags cuntybollocks.

Just wanted to say that whilst I still can.

  • I quite like girls wiggling their arses to be honest,

  • Hypocrite.

  • Does Smeg count as a swearword?

  • I actually said that today!

I was in the street and I couldn't undo this lolly, and I'd been watching Red Dwarf the day before so I ended up shouting

    "THE SMEGGING THING!"

  • I've been calling people "a complete smegpot" at work the past fewdays. Red Dwarf's return has got me all Dwarfed up.

  • I'd just like to say.....

    Fuck!

  • Llew,

So only the stuff you think is icky should be censored? Only the content you approve of should be protected? Seems a bit hypocritical to me.

  • My kid doesn't watch you but I have to wait until she goes to bed to watch it myself because she can hear you swearing in the background when she's doing whatever she's doing. There are certain videos where I expect there might be content unsuitable for viewing when young children are present I have watched simple "how to" videos with language that would make a sailor blush! I am not for censorship but I do wish there'd be some sort of warning before I play it with my preschooler in earshot.

  • The more taboo the more it is desired. I just do not like the nanny hand holding youtube is exhibiting. That is more disturbing. Reminds me of BUSH telling the world "its ok we know what's best for you..."

  • hey!

I'm a Kid and I watch your viideos!

    I'm 12!

I grew up watching Red Dwarf you smeg head!

    i <3 you robbie!!

  • Sorry i didn't punuate properly^^^ i just wanted to get my ideas down quickly. BTW, Obama supports abortion, euthenasia and gay marriaage and is a 32 level mason. He is allowing exactly what hitler allowed to produce a thoroughbred race. obama is also a racist and "doesn't want his daughters to have to be burdened with children".

  • I don't mind google as a company and as a search engine either, i think it's brilliant it's just that there are a few people who work for google who have views that go against society's upstanding values. look, when it comes to love the sinner hate the sin, give the gays and lesibians human dignity just don't support their unnatural life style and what they stand for. yes let gays and lesbians have jobs.

P.S. Sorry i didn't punctuate properly it's just thata i wanted to jot down w

  • Google, "DO NO EVIL" Hmmm, google supports abotion, euthenasa and gay marriage, this comment may be deleted by google, so catch it before they do.

  • Youre right, they are such a good company.

Imagine if they tried to legally restrict what women can do with thier own bodies? Or if they forced gays to live as second class citizens, without the same basic rights.

Then they would be evil, and small minded too.

  • You are both maroons.

Morality is not universal. Euthanasia and abortion are neither inherent "rights" nor "crimes". Right and wrong are human constructs, relative to the individual.

  • What an odd fellow. Firstly, maroon? Thats not even the most insulting colour.

And i admire your relativist stance, and thats mine as well. Its up to me to decide what i call evil.

  • Maroon is an insult used by Bug Bunny, a mispronunciation of moron.

Yes and ONLY you can define what value is to you. Just don't go imposing it on others (or use government to do so).

I certainly wasn't defending the heliotrope above.

  • You misunderstand me.

Im saying due to MY beliefs, i think it is morally right to crush the free speech of people i dont agree with, since they are wrong(In my eyes)

However, since i dont rule society i think its better to have a laissez faire attitude to things like abortion and euthinasia.

  • Couldn't see your comment on the blog. Either something wrong with that particular page or they are limiting the number of comments on view.

  • oh look now they made a liar out of me. Certain sites especially political ones.

  • youtube seems to censor posts too. by not posting no mattter how many times you try,

  • profanity in context is OK as shown on a number of your videos Bob.. but F*ing and blinding for no reason other than to offend is whare it should be stopped. We all sware from time to time ,be it stubbing you toe in the middle of the night,or a harmless rant over the oil companys...lol..Bob..but i can see YT,(Google ) going a little overboard with this.,,Keep them comming Krytee..

  • The argument that "kids might see it" is daft to begin with, since - quite apart from the fact that profanity in the first place hardly causes any issues which wouldn't be wrought on an adult - if a kid is old enough to use a computer, he or she has seen it all before.

Adults over the age of about 30 seem to be under the ironically naive impression that their children don't know swear words yet. They are, almost without exception, incorrect.

  • I have myself been censored.

I had posted a video about the crimes of catholicism which has been on for some time.

Then it has brutally been censored for "inappropriate contents" without more explanation.

Yet I was not intending to attack the catholic faith itself but only the crimes committed in the name of catholicism (wars of religions, persecutions, genocides...).

Hypocrisy at its best from intolerant bigots...and I'm a catholic myself.

There is no freedom of speech on Youtube.

  • So glad I found your channel! I've heard for ages you were on here!

  • Oh and I totally agree with you btw.

  • Has anyone ever told you that you look like Clarence Bodicker from Robocop?

  • All I have to say is people will just go somewhere else! There's more then YouTube out there for hosting videos, plus live feed TV is starting to get popular.

  • They are trying to limit our freedom of speech and bring in the New World Order(most people have heard about it)This is just one of their many ways of trying to stop people getting the message out. Just go to Google and do a search for new world order or illuminati or end of the world.

Another great video by the way. thanks for posting

  • Im Gonna plagarize Bill Hicks, heres my opinion of Google, if you work for google, kill yourself, walk into to traffic.take a swandive off the top of your office building,do something, the world could with a lot less corrupt criminal business assholes

  • ˙sıɥʇ pɐǝɹ oʇ uʍop ǝpısdn pɐǝɥ ɹnoʎ ƃuıuɹnʇ sɐ ƃuıʎouuɐ sɐ ʇsoɯןɐ s,ʇı ˙uǝǝs ɹǝʌǝ ǝʌ,ı sʇsod ssǝןǝsn ʇsoɯ ǝɥʇ ɟo ǝuo ǝq oʇ ʇoƃ sɐɥ sıɥʇ

  • i disagree entirely dan, to say that either everything is ok or none of it is ok, we would have cars banned because the general population is disallowed from useing them, children, we could have everybody rideing around in cars, accedents occuring because some little idiot decides it'd be fun to re-enact a moment in their video game by running somone down. lines are for a reason, they just need to be set at the right points...

  • for example, the point of 18 as an adult is an incredibly stupid and out-dated law on who can do what, im only 14 myself, and yet im looked down on by the steriotypes that catagorise me as a little bastard just because of my age... what i say to those people is maybe you should start looking at people by the individuality instead of the generalised group.

  • allthough most would right me off as somone without life experiance, or the intelligence to match up to somone who's been liveing longer then me, i feel that i have more of a right to drive them some adults do primarily because of matureity, i dont allow my emotions to controll me, i dont think its funny or cool to go out with friends, drink half a can of beer and pretend to pass out in the street. whereas some adults today head out and do drugs, have anger management problems, and do some of

  • the most reputed scum of the world, and its only because they have the stuff they shoudnt... they couldnt rape somone of they didnt have a transport like a car, one would notice a guy dragging an unconcious woman down the street... to cut things short, lines DO have to be drawen to keep things in line, but be carefull where their placed, because letting a drunken gun weilding mentally unstable person which, for example, alot of amercans would do... prior to people like me who sit down and

  • actually reason with things instead of acting as you would expect me to act... **OMG dis so unfair!!1!**... swearing should be allright for those who are mature enough to handle it, but for those like infants that really dont need to be learning a language they shouldnt know until they know when to use it... i agree that swearing should be rated.

  • You have a point, but there would be no fair, feasable way of filtering people out. You have the draw the line somewhere be it 16, 18, or 21. It's not perfect, but it's the best you can have. For example I believe that only people with a certain IQ should be allowed to vote, however this is never going to happen as testing everyone would be to great a task, cheating will exist, some people get unfair education therefore they won't reach their potential IQ, etc.

  • sorry rob, it's either no censorship or all censorship..

you can't realistically draw a line between suggestive language and suggestive behaviour.

there aren't enough moderators on google.

i think we ought to post our own moderation.

make your vids 18s or even Xrated when you log them. rather than have other people do it on your behalf.

    self regulation all the way

  • I agree with you old chap, witn nudity on the main you tube site. There are adult sites for adults on seperate you tube sites. So really you tube has no excuse not to allow what you are saying also I am concerned how easy it is for a kid to get into phrohipated sites also. Also offensive insults need moderating if directed at a person persficly or ethnic insults, religion attacking, also homophobic insults too

  • When the Nazis came for the communists, I remained silent; I was not a communist. When they locked up the social democrats, I remained silent; I was not a social democrat. When they came for the trade unionists, I did not speak out; I was not a trade unionist. When they came for the Jews, I remained silent; I was not a Jew. When they came for me, there was no one left to speak out. I DONT LIKE PORN EITHER BUT FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS FOR EVERYONE NOT JUST TO THOSE LIKE ME. YES?
  • I dont like the porno stuff either but if you're ok with them being "rude" to them, who will be around to support you when they are "rude" to you????

  • Amazing hypocrisy. This is an international forum, isn't it.The propaganda that you tube allows is stunning, yet they wont post my non conformist posts. Especially per the us' illegal invasion and genocide of iraq. Consistency is good in american based media, the communist manifesto is running america, and obviously as a script for you tube.

  • blow it up your ass

  • Jeffing?

Quite honestly censorship is inevitable when it comes to any popularised artform. A video containing the mentioned bottom wigglers could be posted and , it feasably could be argued that in some fashion it is "ironical". Not that I'm claiming that is particularily the case, but just to sort of ramble about art in a pointless and well, yeah just pointless way. Must be all that tofu this moring. Keep Vlogging Mr. Ll

  • Like what Gordan Ramsay's say's, if you don't like the language then turn the fucking channel over! Doesn't mean you should censor it for everyone, adults can view what they want, we are not babies and who are they to tell us what we can or can't watch? Only God has that power.

  • Porn is offensive to some people and entertaining to others. If it offends you, don't watch it. I find "x factor" offensive so I don't watch it. It is as simple as that. I believe in personal censorship where you have the right not to look at something but general censorship where sexual expression (between consenting adults) is oppressed, is a violation of human rights. Whatever happened to tolerance in this world?

  • FAAAAAAAAAAAAK!!!!!

  • It does seem a contradiction to be anti-censorship for swearing, and pro-censorship for porn/sexually provocative material. Most would reach a general consensus on what constitutes porn. But sexually provocative (like sexuality itself) can be very ambiguous. One persons turn-on may seem innocent to others: just as one persons expression of themselves may be distasteful to someone else. If dogs-on-skateboards is your thing then, chances are, those videos will still be up there!

  • Just to clarify, I'm not suggesting dogs-on-scateboards is YOUR thing.

  • Flavour of the month is censorship.

1st the Virgin Killer fiasco, now this. At least it's not the ISPs, who are a glorified courier, doing the censorship this time.

Imagine of the Royal Mail replaced all rude letters with a blank sheet of paper whilst in transit...

  • Sir,

It's just a thought, but I'm not certain you can get away with being both 'sort of OK' with censorship (pornography), and anti-censorship (profanity). Doesn't this simply reduce the argument down to personal opinion. Plenty of people will be relaxed about censoring profanity (Bill Hicks for eg) because it's their opinion that he is vile and distasteful. However, this means that there is equal validity. It's just opinions v opinions with censorship creep becoming accepted.

  • gim, i'd love to agree with your "all or nothing" approach, but there are things almost everyone is happy to see automatically filtered. child porn, for example.

you're right of course, but i don't agree. the fact that most people that keep us from being more censored are not all-or-nothing would almost prove that being all-or-nothing isn't required to stand against censorship. though i think censoring adult porn is a silly taboo. it's as natural as eating and breathing. as is saying "fuck."

  • I fully approve of even the most shallow videos "girls waggling their asses" or any other video that doesn't try to incite violence or direct hate speech. Frankly, I think that th uncensored platform for communication is fine just the way it is. As much as we all hated the "two girls one cup" phenomenon, wasn't the sheer chaotic nature of it brilliant? Good & bad...what fantastic times.

  • the begining of the end...r.i.p. youtube

  • If they instead had done it so that YouTube users below a certain age didn't get videos with profanity, that would be fine, I think. Lowering ranks on things they don't like sounds so ... passive-agressive "Californian", so typically Google.

It's like instead of telling you that your video has been blocked for minors, they'll secretly make sure that nobody notices it.....

  • I agree that censorship=bad. But I feel it's a bit dodgy to rail that they're bad for lowering the rank of videos with swearing and yet say it would be fine for them to remove "pornographic" content and furthermore ban those dirty-porno-posting-spankmeister's accounts!

  • Take that censorship

    ha ha

  • i wonder whats going to happen with the halo 3videos

    PS.FUCK,PISS,ASS,SHIT,BITCH,HELL...

AND SOME OTHER FUCKING SHIT I CANT FUCKING REMEBER

  • I love your grimacing face haha

I'm SO ANGRY about this. Everything mankind works for is fucked over when something like this happens. Google, grow up! You smagheads! FRACK YOU!

But, Of course trying to fight for free speech regardless of the cost is also a compensation for something...

  • Google censoring us eh... no news there because they do it for China where they cant browse unverified webpages from google. Google also collect info on us for the CIA, thats why google was invented... few conspiracy threads out there on this. Also If they are worried about foul language and sex references thats like the pot calling the kettle black as they put up ads now on our vids. One from them said "Big Hot Wet Fannies", which I complained about. Seems ok for them to do! Grrr innit!

  • i agree with u, troll!

  • gogo bobby ! p.s would you like some pie?

  • I think Mr Llew forgot about the "Old Dog" doing tricks on a skateboard with his son. With very tricky editing.... but really "THE MAN" will always regulate what we as a viewing society can and can't watch or hear. A society consantly crippled in this way will rebel in the worst of ways, and seriously who wants that?

  • If they do this, we should have a SMEG DAY.

  • alright there smeghead.ha your fab matey

  • The problem with censorship is that it is used to limit freedom of speech and expression. Censoring porn I can understand, protecting children and so on. The main trouble is that we have a 'moral majority' which is actually a minority, which tries to limit our freedoms under the claim that we are too intellectually weak to make our own decisions. Surely, we can choose what language we listen to and whether to use it ourselves, or is that now politically incorrect?

  • bobby, some people are extremely offended by sexual references such as the word "fuck" and want it censored. Don't try to explain it rationally, because it isn't rational. By the same token, there's no point in arguing with it either.

  • i dont swear & dont want my kids to swear either unless its in context but its freedom if people use it to show how emotionally messed up they feel about things then its there right,on mainstream tv there should be guides but this is youtube content made by the viewer some people cant say a sentence without swearing but its not harming anyone unless your a sheep and if children are viewing it and becoming influenced then surely the blame is on parents, what next..ban talking whilst eating?

  • I completely agree. Censorship achieves nothing, it's a just a form of control. If you never let your child fall down then how can they learn to get up? If they've never heard swearing it's only going to make it a forbidden fruit and even more desirable. Certainly had that affect on me...I was told it was evil and for grownups only...and now I have a sewer for a mouth!

  • I'm just glad we can still say ass

  • kryton? reply to these commenters here.prove your reading them.and do the laundry while your at it too

  • Ironic when you think about it, Youtube (owned by GOOGLE) censored yet on Google itself put almost ANY word into the image search and on the first couple of pages all explicit bizzare porn type things 0.o... Mebbe Google should re-think that little "Censor Youtube thing" as for the swearing... it's all over TV and the media and kids cannot be protected from it.

  • fuck that

  • JV, some uf us are used pissheads swearing at us outside our house and know a quick kick in the wedding vegetables normally shuts them up.

However you seem to be missing the point, this censorship not only targets oafs with a low vocab, It also targets those to who it is an absolute artform used to mould conversation and punctuate speaches.Who would you trust more,a politician who says"I will do everything i can to help you"or one who says "I will do everything I fucking can to help you"

  • nobody is taking anyone's free speech away , they just want to " sanitize " the main pages .

    it's not censorship , it's a business decision .

do you want some drunkard cussing in your front yard , the main pages are google's front yard . JV

  • It's a business decision to use censorship. being a business decision doesn't magically make it not what it clearly is.

  • if the majority of viewers have rated the vid to get on the front pages then regardless of the content it should be seen its earned its place , if people dont like it then down rate it to the bottom of the pile, if rubbish is making it on the front pages then youtube should fix it so the system works and is fair for all

  • If people are offended by swearing they want to f-ing grow up. This is another attempt to sanitise a free world by the censoring the majority. Do we get a say in this, no, is America and its far right, god bothering rule makers truly a democracy, no. Wil they listen to anything we have to say, no. On that note i may as well shut up.

  • Maybe it is a try to redefine the youtube. I have not seen any pornographic content on youtube yet, except some crazy spam with a quazillion of keywords. The thing with swearing is a trend which has been introduced by "moderation" of discussion threads on articles in online newspapers a.s.o. With enough pressure we can find a viable solution. If we were paying customers, the changes would be much easier. In this situation we must just hope that the youtube staff listens to the userbase comments.

  • While I do in fact agree with what you are saying here, I am also going to play the role of devil's advocate for a moment. In a way, you are being hypocritical about Youtube's censorship. You agree with pornographic material being taken down, but don't want language to be censored. Some people may be more offended by language than by nudity or suggestive videos.

In the end, I certainly do not come to Youtube for porn, nor do I enjoy seeing it on the site. I'm also not offended by adult language

  • Youtube is starting down a slippery slope if they start to censor. Once censorship starts where does it stop.

  • My response pt 2:

Once again it's the few rich right wing nut-jobs dictating policy for everyone else because a few people are too lazy to actually try Parenting their kids. They want the world to do that for them so they don't have to. Then they wonder why their kids have grown up so dysfunctional and lacking in responsibility and general tact. It's because they tried to let the TV and Government raise their kids instead of taking an active role in their children's lives by being a Parent.

  • so you man to say its the government's fault and the parent's , oh man this problem is deeper than i thought . uh oh , we better throw in " rich " people also , or is that rich , right wing nutjobs , i think we have finally isolated the genesis of the current crisis , LOL . Hmm ,and i didn't think Hinton took office for two months . JV

  • My response part 1:

Clearly one can see from all the responses that these new policies are an all around bad idea.

Violence is about hate and death, but sex is about love and union. Why do we live in a world that venerates hatred and bans love? Sounds pretty backwards to me honestly.

As for profanity, why? They are only words, why cut people's use of words? It's as much freedom of choice as it is freedom of speech you're destroying here.

  • looking at the comments to the blog it looks as though a great majority of the youtube userbase agrees with you.

I don't agree with how some people are posting in the blog thread with comments that are basically little more than "fuk u youtube u r foolz".

Intelligent arguments always get more achieved.

But I can guarantee that most kids are exposed to/ use profanity at schools and out in the public as it is, so this is really little more than a token gesture

  • I don't want youtube to start getting censored and regulated like TV! Too much censorship will kill youtube. You shouldn't have an account on here unless you are at least 13 so its not like young children are exposed to the swearing. Again its these meddlesome ultra-PC pompous types coming to the fore (you know, the type who created that Ross/Brand "uproar") wanting a nannie-state. Mark videos that contain searing so people can choose whether or not they want to be exposed to it, but no more!

  • Amen Brother Llew

  • It doesn't bother me when I happen upon rude or crude content. What are they trying to do? Tame it? Or control it? It just knocks down the freedom all who expresses whats important to each of us, This should be the cornerstone of any open society. Turning down the volume to let everyone hear something else isn't a solution. Its just a set of steps to tier the public to other channels, and the pay parts will be added later to be sure.

  • So, basically you feel it's alright to eliminate videos suggesting a completely natural act for which the humanity was designed, but blocking videos containing unnecessary words you choose to utter is bad? Hypocrite? Maybe...

I'm on here watching the old duffer instead of porn via the same free will we've all been endowed with, simple as that. No one should determine what someone else can post or watch. If you don't want your kids seeing something... BE A PARENT NOT A FRIDGE STOCKER!

  • Interesting point, and one I tend to agree with, however, I do believe there is a difference between the utterance of obscene words and the deliberate attempt to sexually arouse a viewer. In both cases it's easy as an adult to make a choice. There is ample opportunity on the net to view such videos, I don't think You Tube is the appropriate place. What is more concerning is the silencing of political dissent.

  • There is a difference between commercial porn (no doubt copyright infringing) and a girl (or boy!) wiggling her (or his) arse because they think it is a laugh. I wouldn't do it, but given how much I use a computer, imagine what my arse is like!

However, simply because there is no way that I would be happy being a moral guardian I don't see that it can ever be right to _censor_ anything. Censoring, of course, isn't the same as restricting access to non-minors.

  • Fuck Censorship

  • when i hit my finger with a hammer (i do it too often to say if) I may use a word or to that others would object to. i agree in the right place at the right time etc...whats the harm...there in the dictonary so why not use them.

  • Oh for fuck sake it's pathetic. I'm not a big swearer, but this requires it. What is the deal with not swearing, sometimes there's a need for it thats why it's there!

  • I too have been the unfortunate victim of Youtube censorship. Strangely enough, the video they recently deleted was 14 months old, and as far as I could tell, violated none of the user guidelines. It had a five star rating. Asking why the video was removed and what rules it broke has so far yielded no answer from the Youtube.

    This makes me extremely suspicious.

  • Algorithmically censor today, close the account tomorrow. NannyTube has already been suppressing secularists (who swear far more than non-secularists) for a while. I would hazzard a guess that there are some fairly senior people at NannyTube who have God on their side.

  • i hear worse walking past the kids at lunchtime. it is up to parents to monitor their childs internet access not Youtube!!!!

  • Totalitarian Tip Toe. Take away all our rights one brick at a time until we have no more bricks, I mean rights.

  • It's MY job to censor the internet for my family. Not Youtube's, not Google's, not the US governments, not my own Government's. I am so sick of being "babysat" when I do not need to be.

  • 0.o ... It might well be censorship, but it's very mild censorship that isn't going to affect my online viewing in any way.

I am subscribed to the people I like to watch, the fact that they don't appear on the 'most viewed' seems a benign point.

I am sorry that it may affect people like the great Llew, in that you will probably get less views when you swear a lot. But I almost view that as fair editing on youtubes part. Youtube will still continue to remain a very open forum.

  • its just another brainwashing load of crap to make all of us submissive. like if we watch you, every one else has to swear. i guess debate will do nothing. fight the power...etc.

  • "What if children see you effing and jeffing?"

Personally I don't believe in censorship. There is absolutely no way kids are going to get through their childhood in this day and age without hearing a single swearword. When I have kids of my own (haven't got that far yet) I won't be teaching them not to swear, but I will be teaching them that people may find it offensive and that they should think before they swear.

  • No, they are more likely under attack from a religious extremist minority who are affraid of words. And nipples.

  • I agree, this is a joke...

*Goes off to shout at google*

  • Amazing how quick they are to censor, EXCEPT the like of a chap I saw in a music video yesterday with his old chap hanging out! Yes on YouTube. Its all gona end in a China like firewall for political videos, I can see it coming.

  • Nice one Llew.

  • I agree...swearing shouldn't be that big of a deal. The big issue is to not offend people. But if you go through life trying to never offend a single person, you may as well never leave your home and be a recluse. I have TRIED living like that and it's downright impossible. No matter what something you do or say will at one point offend someone. So you just have to live with that fact. So I do agree with you 100% that it is not right to censor swearing.

  • Well I find swearing very offensive and infantile but the human body is a beautiful thing. So either its a free for all on you tube or lets change the name to islam tube?!

  • Hey, there's a thought...bring in all those "unoffical" cuss words. That'll teach those smegging smeggers! Probably not. :-/

  • You don't bore me stupid! You're very interesting!

  • it's time to pull a father ted and start shouting "feck" instead.

  • I can appreciate the porn and stupid sexual stuff being gone, but as far as not being able to rant and express your POV, "eff & jeffs" included, I think that's just dumb. My thought is, if you don't like what you're hearing, there's a whole list of other choices You Tube presents to the right and a search box at the top. Move along to something else if you're offended. No one is forcing you to listen!

  • Ermmm, I'm 15 and I've been a subscriber for quite a while, does that make me a freak (please don't answer that!)? To be honest I'm not so bothered about this provided YouTube are not planning on actually censoring (rather, refusing to promote) adult videos. I think that while people probably shouldn't swear around children, most people i know learnt all swearwords by the age of 9. Childrenare not about to be corrupted ...

  • ...i would be highly suspicious of people who genuinely believe their children are THAT innocent *cough*dennisthatcher*cough*!
