  • Randy Meisner was the voice of the early "Eagles". It's a shame that he was forced from the band early in the bands sucessful years. Even though the band went on to be incredibly succesful after Meisner's departure, there is no telling how many more hits they would have had with Meisner on board. Try and Love again was a fantatic tune as well as Take it To the Limit and others that Randy fronted. I highly doubt that the band would have had a sucessful of a start without Meisner's voice.

  • Randy Meisner, one of the most touching poets that knows how to get into my soul.......

  • He's voice is better than Don Henley!!

  • When I first heard this song off the Hotel California album, I thought my God this is so gooood. The icing on the cake for this album.

  • It's a good thing that idiot drummer and lead singer ran Meissner and Felder off. SHEEESH!

  • he is hot.. hubbys account btw

  • God I love this song. Its wonderful!

  • @bobbyjrkerry its joe walsh on rhytym and don felder on lead and the solo

  • Who plays the guitar solo in this song. Is it Randy?

  • What's this recording from? Randy solo?

  • wow what a voice wish he would try again with this song!

  • This is still is my favorite song off of Hotel. So much passion!!!

  • Randy you are the best and greatest Eagle that their could ever be...you have Soul brother

  • This was THE best song on the Hotel California LP. But by then everything has to go thru Henley and Frey and there was no way they would let Meisner get any spotlight. Of the 3 singles came out of this LP, Henley and Frey would not even put this song on any of the "B" side. So pathetic! Henley and Frey should have changed the group's name to "The Egos".

  • Randy had the best voice ever. This is one of my two my favorite Eagles songs, coequal with One of these Nights.

  • why not a greatest hit?????????????

  • Don Henley and Glenn Frey wrote Take it to the limit for Randy to sing. At least that is what I have read. Randy will always be my 2nd fav Eagle. This song was one of the best on Hotel Califonia.

  • Take it to the Limit was written by Randy with the help of Henley and Frey. They did not write it for him. By then whomever wrote most of the song sang lead vocal on it.

  • Hey does anybody know who plays the solo in the original version of this song which was on Hotel California? In the liner notes it says Glenn Frey on lead guitar but also Joe on "Gretsch guitar"? I love this song awesome vocal by Randy!

  • He only sang lead on a few Eagles songs that he self penned, but he blows them all away, listen to his brilliant high soaring voice on the original.

  • has to be Randys voice ,he just has that something extra, my fav on Hotel California

  • i love Randys voice .So haunting and achy. Not slick or over produced.I wish he was still with the Eagles.Tim aint Randy.

  • i love his voice

  • Great Song!!!

  • What a great song. One of my favorite "Meisner" and "Eagles" songs. Superb vocals and killer guitars.

  • One of the greatest songs ever written. Thanks.

  • a very dear friend. What a voice!

  • Wish someone would post the original from hotel California, just to hear that Gretsch Guitar from Joe Walsh,it makes all the differance.

  • @astraman1960

I think Glen Frey & Don Henley are cockblocking.

  • mbtemlett says: "the most underrated eagles song ever" KUDOS :o)

    AWESOME SONG :o)

  • the real eagles and don felder

  • im 23 from scotland but this song reminds me of a 1970's evening somewhere in california something like in the film 'dazed and confused' i love how great songs create a time and atmosphere around them :) amazing

  • Agree with all the posters who said this is the most underrated Eagles song ever, I can't count how many times I pulled out my HC CD just to listen to this.

  • My favorite song in all of Hotel California :)

  • @SapphireSparta

it's always just finishing. again and again

  • Don Felder said Randy sang like an angel in his book 'Heaven and Hell'

  • @DarioGoblin I agree, Randy had such a phenomenal voice. Really is a terrible shame things didn't work out between him and Glenn Frey. The Eagles never were the same with out his soaring voice, and awesome bass playing. Don't get me wrong. I like Tim. He's talented and has a good voice but he's more of a light rock ballad musician. I preferred him in poco.

  • THE EAGLES one of the greatest bands ( if not the BEST ) -- i remember in ' 75 , NEW YEAR'S EVE CASEY KASEM 'S 100 song countdown TAKE IT TO THE LIMIT was #1 but this one TRY AND LOVE AGAIN is up there also -- remember it well -- joined the service 3 years later -- i believe this type of music carried me through my years in uniform ( wore the uniform for 29 years and 6 months -- MAN WHAT A RIDE!!!) -- memories now -- stil can hear the music though , takes me back for a little

  • In response to (mbtemlett) You are exactly right, this is the most underrated Eagles song ever. It is absolutely "The Hidden Gem" on Hotel California. Very anachronistic to the time but just beautiful. This song reminds me so much of being a kid and how the nights felt back then. Randy Meisners vocal and the sound of those Les Pauls are just incredible. Very beautiful work from The eagles.

  • @DogEarRegister The most underrated - and possibly the best, Eagles song.

  • their best and that's saying a lot

  • Man I gotta get some of this .............

  • Does a video exist of Randy singing this song? I'd love to see it.

  • hey man... I love Randy as well... great voice. I live in the same area that he grew up... I've heard that he's in Cali. on oxygen... not doing well... anyone out there know for sure how he's doing????

  • Top class frm Randy,luv the Eagles,saw them 3 times now & cant w8 2 c them again.

  • My fav from HC, maybe of all Eagles. I concur way overlooked!

Rick Nelson saw Randy at the Troub in L.A. with Poco and was in awe, snagged him up for one album, his best "Live at the Troubadour", but he flew away with the Eagles. His next album showed the loss! Nelson could spot talent! Thanks!!

  • Read Don Felders Book, it answers all the questions about what really happenned to former Eagles Randy Meisner and Bernie Leadon along with himself

  • Just fantastic....I really like this version. Randy Meisner is great and so underrated. I recently went to an Eagles concert (which was excellent, Joe walsh really stole the show) and to hear Glenn Frey sing "Take it to the Limit" was just painful. They would have been better off not playing it, as it is a Meisner song and it can't be duplicated without him.

  • thanks for posing , great to "meet" fellow fans of this great track. Anyone like "Is It True?" from On the Border - love Randy Meisner.

  • I love this song........brings me back to a happy time one I will treasure forever....brings me back to the question do I try and love again? I am already back there......waiting

  • Amazing. Thank you very much. I love this song.

  • By far the most emotionally gripping song on 'Hotel California'. Amazing, and thanks for sharing.

  • Randy and Timothy B. were both in POCO and the Eagles...

  • Haunting lyrics. Strings that stimulate the heart. A voice trying to be heard. Makes me lose it almost every time...

  • @txdrifter38 This song was part of the Hotel California album which was released in 1976.

  • something about this song moves and stirs my spirit.....definitely under rated but beautiful none the less

  • the most under rated eagles song ever

  • @mbtemlett

    AMEN

  • dido!

  • Been searching for this and I'm saddened by how few videos there are for it

  • This song is single handedly my all time favorite Eagles song (YES, even more than Hotel California or all of their other overplayed radio hits..) Randy Meisner is a diamond and they never should have parted company with him.. Thanks for posting this song..This song is a little known jewel.. but I am glad that some people are aware of it.. The few.. the proud...

  • Saw Randy about two years after he left the Eagles and leaving the stage he passed by me and I asked him why he didn't play this song and his reply was he was not allowed to .

  • @hufferz - yeah the eagles peace love but most of all money!!!!!!!!

  • The intro in this arrangement has a really strong Allman Brothers vibe to it.

The song might just as well have been written by Dickie Betts, but I guess Randy beat him to it.

  • Somebody post the real song, cuz I like it, I dunno how to do it and I want that mo -fo on my playlist!!!

  • Great voice.

What year was this live track done?

    Dave

  • whoa thats so cool i just found out i was born in the same hospital as this guy

  • Doesnt really sound like him. My favorite Eagles tune. It used to be on here but it is gone now ;-(

  • @anakina1

someone should repost this song (the eagles version that is)! i love this song!

  • randy had a great voice. got a little brushed aside in the eagles.

  • anyone know when this was recorded? this is fantastic. i wish he would have stayed with the eagles, although i understand why he left them. thanks for posting.

  • Thank you for posting this.

  • Buena rola...excelente Randy Meisner...Gracias por poner el video
