This is the game that started Iowa on a roll. They beat South Car. in the Bowl (only Big ten team to win) and have not lost since. They may not win pretty but they damn well get it done. Look to see Iowa in the Rose Bowl, or in the National Championship if Texas loses!
heres what sucks. the poll's are favorited way too damn much. If Iowa loses one game, they drop like 5-8 positions. But if USC or Florida loses once, they go down in the rankings about 1 or 2 spots.

@HereComeTheHawkeyes I hate to admit it, but that is true that Iowa plays good at Beaver Stadium, PSU is 4-7 against Iowa in Beaver Stadium but 7-4 in Kinnick all time. Another thing I hate to admit, I'm pessimistic as hell about PSU's chances in Kinnick this fall. I'm always at least a little optimistic about PSU except for 2003 (yes, even in 2004 I was), but this year I'd be thrilled just to see PSU make a bowl. Penn State hasn't lost a game by more than 1 point all year, better than all of the teams you mentioned except Florida. As a Penn State fan, I hate to see us lose to Iowa, but I didn't want to see Ferentz get canned, so that takes a little bit of the sting out of that game. I can see Iowa going 10-2 next year, but I think PSU will win the Big 10 next year. I expect Ohio State to be really down next year, they're replacing half the team, it won't be like when they just replaced a QB and RB in 2007, so no co-champs with OSU next year.
Doesn't PSU replace more than Ohio State? PSU loses 8 defensive starters and 4 offensive linemen. They'll probably be able to get their line back in check, but I really doubt their defense will be nearly as good as this year. Ohio State has most of their line and Pryor returning, as well as 7 defensive starters (although they do lose Lauranitis and Jenkins, they shouldn't drop that much next year if at all). But you never know who they have behind people.
i agree, the PSU fans were respectful. also none were obnoxious (that i saw). there were a lot of fans there to possibly screw it up too, but they were all pretty cool.

You don't own Penn State. Most of your 5 of the last 6 were during the span from 2000-2004 that many PSU fans call "the dark years" (that actually began in 1999 with the Minnesota loss). You do not "constantly beat Penn State", I think the overall record is 11-9 Penn State.

I didn't see Iowa overpowering Penn State at all, what I saw was terrible Penn State playcalling combined with what looked like overconfidence (Casey At The Bat style). I remember Penn State moving the ball with ease against Iowa, but calling bad red zone plays. Congrats to Iowa and their huge upset win, but you din't exactly smack us up and down the field all game long. This game did show that going undefeated in the Big Ten is tough because there are great underrated teams.

I never said you didn't win fair and square. It was simply one team showed up to play a football game, the other didn't. That's why Penn State didn't bother to make second half adjustments combined with bad playcalling. Bad playcalling in that in the first half they did move the ball easily (but made bad plays at the 1 yard line), then in the second half tried to get cute for "style points". But I agree, you guys are a good team. And good luck in your bowl game.
It's not like we played a perfect game and you didn't show up. We committed two unforced turnovers deep in our own territory (those stupid mistakes that killed us all year.) Stanzi's performance down the stretch was the key. He made so many key 3rd down conversions. I like your chances in the Rose Bowl. Unlike many other big ten teams in the past, you don't have any glaring weaknesses. Strong everywhere and you play disciplined, fundamentally sound football.
Neither team played a perfect game, but I've noticed that the bye week all year has knocked off the mojo for most teams. I can't wait for the Rose Bowl, though. I just hope it's not against Oregon State. Our last Rose Bowl, in the 1994 season was at least against #6 Oregon (even if we did get denied a championship split with Nebraska). I really wanna see Penn State smack USC in the Rose Bowl and not Coastal Carolina West again. Good luck in your bowl game, though.
Next year iowa is going to be better than they are this year. Since shonn greene is probably going to go pro we still have hampton and hampton is a very good running back. Also we are only losing 16 seniors and many of our starters are coming back.
I see Penn State getting revenge next year (this game is circled on our list of top revenge games), but I know that Iowa is only 12 points away from a better season. I see you going 9-3 or better next year, but losing to Penn State (who I think will be really good next year). Unfortunately, they may lose to someone else. I just hope the 2008 PSU team isn't as forgotten as the phenomenal 1996 Buckeyes team is.

Iowa has just as much talent as just about any other big ten team and as far as defense goes we are probably the most talented team in the Big Ten. Iowa is young though, with a promising but inexperienced quarterback under center. I think if we got replayed all the teams we lost to this season it would be a different story this time around. The offense is playing better and the defense is hungry. Watch out for the Hawks at the end of this season and next season! GO HAWKS!

i find it funny how you penn staters think so highly about a color. color does absolutely nothing, other than doing something like a brown out. what this is is team vs team. iowa has some large advantages and so do you, it will be a great game that i think iowa wins by 7 or less. this game, no matter which way it goes, will decide the big 10 champion.

@HereComeTheHawkeyes I hate to admit it, but that is true that Iowa plays good at Beaver Stadium, PSU is 4-7 against Iowa in Beaver Stadium but 7-4 in Kinnick all time. Another thing I hate to admit, I'm pessimistic as hell about PSU's chances in Kinnick this fall. I'm always at least a little optimistic about PSU except for 2003 (yes, even in 2004 I was), but this year I'd be thrilled just to see PSU make a bowl. I predict a three team race between Iowa, Wisconsin, and Ohio State.

WMG doesn't realize that they're making lots of enemies with this behavior. Well, maybe they do now. I heard that WMG stocks have dropped to $2 a share and mostly because of the negative reaction to the Warner Music Group attempting to force people into buying CDs just to listen to music (do they plan on trying to make use of the radio pay-per-song?). Did you know they're even hacking in and removing audio from videos with Happy Birthday in them?

Penn State hasn't lost a game by more than 1 point all year, better than all of the teams you mentioned except Florida. I don't think PSU would get crushed by Florida or Oklahoma, those would be great games. Texas Tech, you gotta be kidding me. Oklahoma made them look like a junior high school team. Could have been worse if not for having the third stringers play. The Rose Bowl is gonna be a great game, the Outback Bowl will be a romp, Iowa should mop up SC no problem.

Iowa should be good in 09. The defense is always good, yea were losing king but i think that soph Klug is guna be a beast on the line. Stanzi and hampton are guna have an awesome year.

I hope that Iowa and Penn State are undefeated in 2009 going into the matchup (Penn State has a disgraceful OOC schedule, I want to barf when I look at it, dunno about Iowa), and I hope Penn State wins big for the huge revenge game. But I think this game is what saved Ferentz's career. As a Penn State fan, I hate to see us lose to Iowa, but I didn't want to see Ferentz get canned, so that takes a little bit of the sting out of that game. Good luck in the Outback, I'll be rooting for you.

I can see Iowa going 10-2 next year, but I think PSU will win the Big 10 next year. I expect Ohio State to be really down next year, they're replacing half the team, it won't be like when they just replaced a QB and RB in 2007, so no co-champs with OSU next year.

Doesn't PSU replace more than Ohio State? PSU loses 8 defensive starters and 4 offensive linemen. They'll probably be able to get their line back in check, but I really doubt their defense will be nearly as good as this year. Ohio State has most of their line and Pryor returning, as well as 7 defensive starters (although they do lose Lauranitis and Jenkins, they shouldn't drop that much next year if at all). But you never know who they have behind people.

i agree, the PSU fans were respectful. also none were obnoxious (that i saw). there were a lot of fans there to possibly screw it up too, but they were all pretty cool.
and don't worry about ohio state being good lol they're fine. they're always plenty deep. all they did was graduate the losers. everyone said the same thing 2 years ago, before they went to 2 straight champ games (at least they made it)
oh, and my 2 cents... the light snow made the game even more special.

You don't own Penn State. Most of your 5 of the last 6 were during the span from 2000-2004 that many PSU fans call "the dark years" (that actually began in 1999 with the Minnesota loss). In recent years, we're 1-1. Congrats on the huge upset over us, but you have a one game winning streak over revitalized Penn State. You do not "constantly beat Penn State", I think the overall record is 11-9 Penn State.

i know the Penn State team is upset about this lose and thats fine, All i have to say is penn state is probaly an over all better team then iowa this year but on the field that day they were equal. iowa played with there heart and they won penn state can blame it on what they want but it just came down on who had a better day. I love the hawks and were a young team we will be great we have alot of new kids coming in that are great. i expect to be in a bcs next year we will be good!

Okay, I sort of agree with that. The better team doesn't always win because sometimes even the best teams can have a really bad day while their opponent could be having a good day. Also I thought the playcalling was bad enough that a cat in a litterbox could have drawn up something better. Combine those two and you get a huge upset. Good luck in your bowl, and it's a crying shame you're not ranked in the AP after that shellacking of Minnesota yesterday. I'll check the coaches and BCS later.

Okay ill say that the playcalling was terrible but it was throughout the game and alot of penalties weren't called against PSU that should have been. I was at this game and it was AWESOME. I didn't see Iowa overpowering Penn State at all, what I saw was terrible Penn State playcalling combined with what looked like overconfidence (Casey At The Bat style). I remember Penn State moving the ball with ease against Iowa, but calling bad red zone plays. Congrats to Iowa and their huge upset win, but you din't exactly smack us up and down the field all game long. This game did show that going undefeated in the Big Ten is tough because there are great underrated teams.

I never said you didn't win fair and square. It was simply one team showed up to play a football game, the other didn't. That's why Penn State didn't bother to make second half adjustments combined with bad playcalling. Bad playcalling in that in the first half they did move the ball easily (but made bad plays at the 1 yard line), then in the second half tried to get cute for "style points". But I agree, you guys are a good team. And good luck in your bowl game.

It's not like we played a perfect game and you didn't show up. We committed two unforced turnovers deep in our own territory (those stupid mistakes that killed us all year.) Stanzi's performance down the stretch was the key. He made so many key 3rd down conversions. I like your chances in the Rose Bowl. Unlike many other big ten teams in the past, you don't have any glaring weaknesses. Strong everywhere and you play disciplined, fundamentally sound football.

Neither team played a perfect game, but I've noticed that the bye week all year has knocked off the mojo for most teams. I can't wait for the Rose Bowl, though. I just hope it's not against Oregon State. Our last Rose Bowl, in the 1994 season was at least against #6 Oregon (even if we did get denied a championship split with Nebraska). I really wanna see Penn State smack USC in the Rose Bowl and not Coastal Carolina West again. Good luck in your bowl game, though.

Next year iowa is going to be better than they are this year. Since shonn greene is probably going to go pro we still have hampton and hampton is a very good running back. Also we are only losing 16 seniors and many of our starters are coming back.

I see Penn State getting revenge next year (this game is circled on our list of top revenge games), but I know that Iowa is only 12 points away from a better season. I see you going 9-3 or better next year, but losing to Penn State (who I think will be really good next year). Unfortunately, they may lose to someone else. I just hope the 2008 PSU team isn't as forgotten as the phenomenal 1996 Buckeyes team is.

Iowa has just as much talent as just about any other big ten team and as far as defense goes we are probably the most talented team in the Big Ten. Iowa is young though, with a promising but inexperienced quarterback under center. I think if we got replayed all the teams we lost to this season it would be a different story this time around. The offense is playing better and the defense is hungry. Watch out for the Hawks at the end of this season and next season! GO HAWKS!

As a die-hard Penn State fan, I have to say, you guys played one hell of a good game. Now, do I think Iowa is better than PSU? Fuck no! But I do know that Iowa played better than PSU last Saturday, partly because PSU played fucking terrible! We just failed to get touchdowns instead of lousy field-goals, which then kept you in the game.
But just watch, barring a complete collapse, PSU will still win-out, winning the Big 10 and going to the Rose Bowl.

Unfortunately, it seems PSU wasn't up to the challenge. It was obvious that we just simply choked. Clarks's throw that was intercepted late in the game, was a throw that Clark had made all season long!!! The pressure got to the guys.

If Iowa is at there best, they can beat anybody in the nation. If we lose to Purdue (not) then that would be the biggest let down ever.
