Some gyms, like Planet Fitness cater to the crowd that wants it quite. I prefer to make a little noise. There is definately a market for both. Plus, its just the two of us in my gym.
@jhashey I love that sound. The clanging of metal is music to my ears. Good old fashion weight lifting with actual weights. None of those fitness machines.
B) There's a rhythm to most good work outs, and the noise can actually HELP you maintain that rhythm to improve your workouts to make sure you're getting the most benefit out of the time you spend doing them.
Steady rhythm and motion (not too fast, not too slow, and not all over the place) is part of making workouts great for whatever it is that you're doing.
@jedaffra This sort of feminine attitude to lifting is why I have a home gym. Anyone who thinks you can lift without noise doesn't lift seriously. If I couldn't make noise I couldn't lift heavy weight in dead lifting or squats for instance. There's a lot of power in the YAWP let me tell you!
Having said that, guys rubber flooring IS a good idea. :)
Hey Jhashey, what's the diameter on that handle? Is it standard 2" or wider?
nice work guys. I'm a big fan of forearm workouts.

if you don't like the sound of weight hitting the ground then you are at the gym to run and should get the fuck out

would have been better if it was a little thicker.

I'd avoid going to the gym if I had to listen to that racket every time I went.
Can't you guys get a piece of foam or something?
