No one..and I mean NO ONE that lives in the United States is 100% WHITE or Black. History has dictated and records have shown that A mix started a LOOONG time ago. Perhaps Everyone has a mix of another culture in them...one way or another.

None of my "100%" friends of any race understood - or understand, still - what it was like to not be able to check two boxes! It is nice to finally be officially recognized as existing! I think this is something only another hapa can understand because it is so important to our identities.

Interesting stuff from the American perspective but I personally have no interest in calling my kids 'Hapa' or whatever the hell they came up with here,

they wont ever be referred to as 'mixed' other than in the context of being 'mix' of their families traits (mom and dad obviously),

but,

Interesting that he grew up in a primarily Chinese household and claims himself as a Hapa;

I know of lots of mixed black and white people who (esp. if they're raised in a primarily black household) identify solely with one race...

Hapa and Mulatto should be terms which are embraced, whatever their origins... it doesn't discount you from being black or Asian or white for that fact either...

It's sad, but nobody will understand the pride people take in being mixed. I have friends who are 100% of one race, and those that are 100% black are like "shut up Obama's the first black president" I'm like "He's the first mixed president, he does have black in him which makes it basically a double first...but he's not the first 100% black president".

@TallT703 No offense, but it wasn't until the 80s that Blacks have had the privilege of identifying with their non-Black side(s). If you look in American history, Homer Plessy (Plessy v. Ferguson), Booker T. Washington, W.E.B. DuBois, etc. have actually been mixed, but they were all forced into the Black/Negro category because they had African heritage. Because of American rulings until recently, many African Americans prefer being called Black.

Half Japanese Eurasians are the hottest people on earth...Dean Cain, Leandro Okabe, Stan McQuay, Robert McCullen, Akihiro Sato, Jessica Michibata, Devon Aoki (not so hot IMO), Maria Ozawa, Jun Hasegawa...the list just goes on and on. Alot of hot models and actors/actresses in this group.

i think most half asian ppl are beautiful, not just half japanese. half chinese ppl are gorgeous too. kristin kreuk is beautiful and to me most hapas that are either chinese or japanese look the same.

Hello, I am an Asian man from Hawaii who's traveled a bit. I've noticed these things...

A good way to drive myself crazy is letting two words turn into ten.

Money is more important than identity. Negative feelings about myself are dramatically
