No matter how strong and tough and awesome the characters are, she tends to play, MF always give them a dimension of being on the edge, a deep melancholy, without falling back into any stereotype. This certain sadness, this intensity (in a subtle way) can get under your skin, and sometimes it is heartbreaking. But maybe it's just me. Don't know.
I agree, and that is what I meant in my post. She injects humanity and edge into any character she plays with confidence, so that you hear the voice inside of her head telling her to "steel yourself" because she is going to do the impossible, make the tough decisions, and live with the consequences.
I respect that in characters, as I respect in people in daily life.

Michelle Forbes is such a great actress bringing tremendous depth to each character she plays.
I saw this clip and I was confused as to why Danny (Taryn Manning) was not responding to her mother's affection.
Having just watched the whole movie I completely understand it, her mother was co-dependant and mentally abusive to her.
