I don't throw my cups in the garbage I put them in the recycle bin, I put the paper cup in with the paper recyclables. However, I do have thermos-mug-type-thing that I normally use, but now they're saying the plastic it's made from gives you cancer or something. (what doesn't give you cancer these days??)
Yeah, something's always giving you cancer these days. I don't think we should worry about it too much. Overall, using your thermos-mug-type-thing will probably be more eco friendly than the paper cups. Though you'd have to give up hope of ever winning anything via the rollup thingies.

i agree... it's kind of pointless.. like when they did Earth Hour on march 29th. that was ridiculous. and what was worse about THAT day, was that the idea was to turn off ONLY your lights for an hour. o_O greeaaat, that'll make a big difference. lol. they could've at least made it more like, NO ELECTRICITY for an hour, or actually, no electricity for a DAY. now that would really make a big difference.
The point of Earth hour was to show that small things can make HUGE differences. Sure you can say "Don't use your electricity for an entire day!" But who's actually going to do that? An hour is more reasonable and can actually make an impact, even if it is smaller than the impact a day could cause.

It was supposed to be all electricity. However, word spread that it was only lights. And I do agree that it would make a bigger difference to do it for the entire day but half the people that did the hour wouldn't participate in an entire day of it. Besides, some people did it for more than one hour anyway. My friends and I kept the electricity off from the start of Earth Hour until midnight :]
true.. thats kinda my point though. it takes something like Earth Hour to make people who wouldn't normally do anything like this to care for once and participate, and even do a little extra. i'm sure if they had done this for a full day enough people would have at least turned off their electricity for even just 5 hours, if not the whole day.

oddly enough this evening at work, I reminded a women to recycle the newspaper she had purchased and she looked at me weird and said "I don't really recycle." wtf.

2. Fire/Wheeler was amazing. I kinda thought it was going to transition into one of their PSA-type things that they had @ the end of all their shows.
