  • Amazing!

  • This great pianist died 1 year ago, on 20 agoust 2010, but nobody did care. Remember him through this absolutely wonderful waltz.

  • Thanks you SO MUCH for your Brumberg posts! His playing is awesome. This version makes all other ones sound pale. I think I'll be listening to his playing a lot from now on... all best wishes.

  • @vivch22 yes it sounds beautiful older recordings sometimes have the edge

  • Chorus at 00:30 seconds transcends all human existence!

  • 3:00 is beautiful. My favorite of the Mephisto Waltzes.

  • this piece really sounds like a devil´s waltz, unlike the No 1

  • no one can defeat Liszt's skill and music

  • This is superb.

  • Who ever wants a score can find a link on wiki or go on to scribd

  • im trying to play this im right by 1:50, and this guy playing definitley adds his own technique

  • from 0:30 to 0:50... I never heard anything like that in music

  • amazing! so powerful

  • I think this one is more downright disturbing than the first one, the first one being more on the dramatic side. Completely different mood. The third one is completely different in it's own right, being more dreamy and impressionistic.

  • Liszt is a great Master!

  • Merrier and more danceable than the first waltz, and with somewhat playful passages - which the first one lacks completely - this waltz, IMO, cannot be called better; I'd rather say that both pieces evoke two different spirits, but obviously linked by obscurity and madness. Both of them are technically and structurally and harmonically compelling and interesting, so it depends on tastes.

  • itds the bets waltzer, mordent17.

  • that is the bets waltzer

  • It really is, maxpoder18

  • I love this piece! It's a shame that it isn't performed more often (the same goes for the equally great Mephisto Waltz no. 3). This is an interesting performance - very different in many places from the score I have and from the other recordings I've heard, but I like it!

  • this version departs in several places from the standard one (you can look up sofronitsky's for instance) but i like it better, but cannot find any music! do you know if it actually is a separate edition by Liszt or if Brumberg is adding his own stuff?

  • he plays his own stuff, there is no score out there. glad you like it!

  • Man I just love this piece...maybe more so than the 1st Mephisto Waltz. Funky sounding piano though

  • I Love Liszt! 5 stars ah favorite piece!

  • Is there more of Leonid Brumberg than this 3 pieces?

I truely like the way he's playing!!

    Its wonderful

  • i will post more as soon as i can

  • unlike the majority of the people (i assume as there is like a million to one ratio of recordings of the first one to the second) i enjoy this one about 3 times more.

    great pieces though, regardless.

  • You always put such rare songs!!!! So wonderful. Beautiful!

  • well, everybody plays the 1st mephisto Waltz. Why not play the 2nd? ;)

  • Exactly! I started to play the 3rd! So beautiful. Liszt's harmony is so advanced. I love playing things people rarely play. I posted a lot of common tunes because, then people can easily see how I see music. But we should not also forsake the little and large unknown gems of music! Thanks :)

  • Amazing sound. Your Prokofiev 7th Sonata is amazing.

  • Such a wonderful artist, maybe you don't want to talk about it but I can't help beeing curious about what he was like as a teacher. Did you study with him a long time?

  • quelle clarté de jeu!! Brumberg et son piano vont bien ensemble. merci de me l'avoir fait découvrir.
