i watched one of these investigations where the investigators switched the black boxes from a crash to blame the pilots instead of a plane malfunction. the pilot had survived and his lawyers said they had picture proof of the boxes being switched thats when the american government threatend the pilot and his lawyer because they were gonna bring the air industry down in a scandle
Show me this case or tell me where to find it. By the way, black boxes have a registry number for the plane they are installed in. Pretty much impossible to do what you claim to be true. Also, the NTSB isn't the CIA!!!

no, the instinct tells You, to pull back the and lift the nose, because it gives You the feeling of "Going up". And "up" is, where safety is. The higher You are, the better.
When the plane loses lift, it is against the instinct, to even point the nose DOWN.
It is against instinct, but it is the right thing to do.
And I guess, the more stress is going on, the more the instinct takes control of You.
To do the right things is always easy without stress and with enough time...
I suppose it is more like if your car goes into a skid on ice and the instinct is to try to correct it rather than turn into it. That happened to me once and even though I knew what I was supposed to do...my feet and hands totally did the wrong thing and my brain apparently had no control at all...So in a plane your head may have the knowledge, point the nose down, but as you say, it is just immediate instinct to keep your plane pointing up. A real emergency is nothing like a pretend one.

But then I also realized that as I was in a simulator, I'm not in much stress. They ARE!

@whoohaaXL it is not as easy as you say for the copilot to contradict his higher authority, that is the captain. The captain has more experienced and most often the lower rank pilots obey his orders and listens to him. It is like you wouldn't tell off your boss even though he is doing something stupid. You would tell him in a polite way, if he rejects your idea, you stay silent, not go on arguing with him. This problem was addressed as well in another aci episode, but cant remember the name.
@Terkounek The interim report using the recovered FDR indicates that AF 447 stalled and remained stalled all the way to the ocean though the cause may not be the same. Watching this episode, I was struck by how seemingly similar this crash was to what seemed to have happened to AF 447.
Its hardly an isolated incident. The same thing happened with Colgan Air 3407 (from the episode "Stalled in the sky"). For reasons beyond understanding, not only did the pilots pull back on the control column after the stick-shaker was activated, but they also retracted the flaps.
I think many people react very differently in shocking reality compared to expected simulations. The simple fact is that in training / simulations, pilots always expect something to go wrong, whereas in reality, they almost never expect anything to go wrong. The surprise probably causes major differences.
The Air France flight that stalled over the Atlantic was also caused by the pilot pulling the nose up rather than down, despite apparent stall warnings issued in the cockpit.
Even thought I am from Venezuela. I don't consider this aircrash to be really a Venezuelan case, because the aircraft was Colombia, the passengers were French from Martinique. The accident could've happened anywhere.
i understand all the factors that contributed to temporary loss of focus, but still, for all the time he was relaxed and laughing with flight attendant how did he miss: 1- the artificial horizon showing the high nose, and 2- the speedometer showing low speeds and then top of that: 3- the stick shaker indicating stall? as a pilot don't u push the nose down almost involuntarily? isn't that an automatic reaction to the vibrations even with tunnel vision happening and everything else?

Regardless of whether you have lost both engines you still have to nose down. Its crazy to think that there are pilots up there, that for whatever reasons, make such idiotic errors.
Poor guys, I'd be pissed too if I didn't get paid in six months. Then they get overworked, delayed and as if that wasn't enough, they go and run into a situation that they only seconds to recognize and resolve. What a shitty deal. God rest all those souls, especially the pilot and co-pilot.
The co-pilot should have taken over to save lives, since the pilot was overwhelmed, or scared to make a split second decision

1. Pilots are highly recommended to get ALOT of trainign AND experience BEFORE flying a plane.
2. The company is giving out the Payments to the Pilots more faster and sooner.
3. The planes should be double inspected inside and outside for faulty manufacturer's parts.
4. The Anit-icing feature is there for a reason.
5. Use the Auto-pilot feature wisely and ALWAYS keep an eye on the buttons and display unit.

But he STILL worked as a pilot.

@whoohaaXL its easier to say that when we kno what the problem is but when your in the position you dont get that much time to think, there was alot going on with the noise the vibrations its easy to not realize the problem, we shouldnt judge the captain he did what at the time he thought would help.

@whoohaaXL it is not as easy as you say for the copilot to contradict his higher authority, that is the captain. The captain has more experienced and most often the lower rank pilots obey his orders and listens to him. It is like you wouldn't tell off your boss even though he is doing something stupid. You would tell him in a polite way, if he rejects your idea, you stay silent, not go on arguing with him. This problem was addressed as well in another aci episode, but cant remember the name.

@Terkounek The interim report using the recovered FDR indicates that AF 447 stalled and remained stalled all the way to the ocean though the cause may not be the same. Watching this episode, I was struck by how seemingly similar this crash was to what seemed to have happened to AF 447.

Its hardly an isolated incident. The same thing happened with Colgan Air 3407 (from the episode "Stalled in the sky"). For reasons beyond understanding, not only did the pilots pull back on the control column after the stick-shaker was activated, but they also retracted the flaps.

I think many people react very differently in shocking reality compared to expected simulations. The simple fact is that in training / simulations, pilots always expect something to go wrong, whereas in reality, they almost never expect anything to go wrong. The surprise probably causes major differences.
The Air France flight that stalled over the Atlantic was also caused by the pilot pulling the nose up rather than down, despite apparent stall warnings issued in the cockpit.

Even thought I am from Venezuela. I don't consider this aircrash to be really a Venezuelan case, because the aircraft was Colombia, the passengers were French from Martinique. The accident could've happened anywhere.

i understand all the factors that contributed to temporary loss of focus, but still, for all the time he was relaxed and laughing with flight attendant how did he miss: 1- the artificial horizon showing the high nose, and 2- the speedometer showing low speeds and then top of that: 3- the stick shaker indicating stall? as a pilot don't u push the nose down almost involuntarily? isn't that an automatic reaction to the vibrations even with tunnel vision happening and everything else?

@platinumsalamander agreed. I can't think of any situation where the stick shaker goes and the pilot should pull back on the stick. Regardless of whether you have lost both engines you still have to nose down. Its crazy to think that there are pilots up there, that for whatever reasons, make such idiotic errors.

Poor guys, I'd be pissed too if I didn't get paid in six months. Then they get overworked, delayed and as if that wasn't enough, they go and run into a situation that they only seconds to recognize and resolve. What a shitty deal. God rest all those souls, especially the pilot and co-pilot.
