"D" models with hound dogs?? Ever seen a "H" model climbing nose down and tail up? The basic design will be 90 years old and still flying.  They told me these had a service life of about 2000 hours. In 1985 when I signed into my first assignment we didn't have a bird on the field with less than 4000 hours, we were launching sorties were the aircraft was older than any of the crew and we had some second generation crew dogs flying the same birds their daddies did.

Probably the best aircraft ever. Went into service in the 50s, and the H models (built from 1960-61) are still going strong. The B-52 is still a better plane than the B-1 or B-2. Amazing plane.

Bergstrom AFB, Austin, TX. Going to Houston every yr 4 vaction 2 Tomball & houston, Dad would stop @ a little drive in south of the base ans we eat lunch and watch these bad bitchess takeoff and land. Alot of people have no ideal of just how importent the B-52s are and have been in keeping our country safe! These planes are awesome and are still in use today, i live in SHREVEPORT and BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE is close by and if you ever get a chance theres a open house airshow here every year, so take the time to see one of these as they are totally BADASS and to see them in person is something youll never forget!

I Minot AFB was also a B-52 base. Granted it was back in the late 70's I lived there. Nothing like living in the line of the flight line and watching the touch and goes at night. I was a teenager then. It was an awesome sight and sound. Yes, I was an AF brat that later married an AF guy. Best yrs of my life, ok other then having grandbabies....

The are not fighters they are bombers they have one (1) job and that is to deliver there packages on target and they do that Rather well.
