According to the reports, his father was extremely strict and would sometimes threaten him, which caused the boy to be afraid of what would happen to him if he was ever caught disobeying his father...which led to this incident.
But that's still no excuse for committing murder and I think he got what he deserved.
I know everyone is really touch by this story but I am hear to tell you that I was 8 yrs old and a friend of Maddie with this happend I dont think any child could ever forget this when I was just playing tag with her the day before. i used to live in florida jacksonville all the way up to the 2nd grade i remember this she was killed and it was scary because they couldn't find her. I really think Josh needs to be released. I think he has served enough time for this. He was just a kid himself. Take a look at Mary Bell. She was 10ish and killed two little boys younger than her. Served only 12 years. But that may have been due to the fact she had a kid. I don't know. I just think he should be released soon so he can live a new life.
Wow. 10 years already. I was her age when this happened and I remember the uproar. I lived close to her and no one would let their kids go outside unless it was for school.
i was 8, the same age in the same grade as her, when this horrible incident happened. i remember the day my teacher told us she was found dead. i think this is when i realized how unfair and cruel life can be. i lived less than 5 miles away from her and i knew people that knew her and her killer. this story still comes to my mind often even though it has been ten years. i still live in jax.

i danced with maddie and her sister jessie its still hard to look at the tv when they have some thing on about her and or her sister when the 10 year specail came on about her and her death and i saw the pics of her under joshes bed i started balling she was so sweet good luck to jessie in the roar shhe is aways watching over us r.i.p we love u

I remember one night me and my friends were on the internet and my friend brought up madie and i asked who she was. So we looked it up and i read wut happened..WOw....oit was sad today is ther 10th anniversary..i wish her family the best! i live in jacksonville florida. Its amazing how people can be cruel. and the 14 year old thought he wa=ould get in trouble.was his father abusive or sumthing? he should have helped her nd brought her home 2 her mom instead of killing her. poor little thing! RIP

I really think Josh needs to be released. I think he has served enough time for this. He was just a kid himself. Take a look at Mary Bell. She was 10ish and killed two little boys younger than her. Served only 12 years. But that may have been due to the fact she had a kid. I don't know. I just think he should be released soon so he can live a new life.

Wow. 10 years already. I was her age when this happened and I remember the uproar. I lived close to her and no one would let their kids go outside unless it was for school.

i was 8, the same age in the same grade as her, when this horrible incident happened. i remember the day my teacher told us she was found dead. i think this is when i realized how unfair and cruel life can be. i lived less than 5 miles away from her and i knew people that knew her and her killer. this story still comes to my mind often even though it has been ten years. i still live in jax.

i miss maddie. i heard about this story quite a while ago. she was such an adorable little girl and to hear that her friend/neighbor did this is horrible. someone so close like that. it bothers me that no one is safe anywhere. rest in peace little angel.
