To learn how to hear the hidden messages in Beatles songs, search "Truth Contest" in Google and click the 1st result, then open The Present and read through the section about The Beatles.
they made this song to show what acid was like, it was actually their first song made to do that, with the trippy guitar melody, and the backwards singing and guitar solo, and the lyrics, just listen to the song and you'll understand lol
I know this does not mean anything... BUT ....if someone was in a dark alley in Hamburg...I would rather have Paul, John and George with me than Mick, Keith and Brian
@carelessfounder Lennon agrees with you. In an interview with Playboy that John did shortly before his death, he stated that he thought Paul's bass playing was both "underrated and highly innovative". It's notable that this was one of the very few complimentary things Lennon had to say about McCartney in his later years.
You guys know they are lip-synching in this performance, right?
I love the Beatles, they are my fave band, so i'm not trying to troll or anything... perhaps i'm just stating the obvious, you all probably already know they are already. lol
Do you know what I don't get? I don't get it why people who don't like the song (it's okay, they have the right not to like it) waste their time clicking the "Dislike" button instead of just leaving the page!
john looks very chubby at 0:00 to 0:18 oh no john please i like you slightly chubby not chubby loose 5 pounds but not too much you don't want to look like a stick like george
I never tire of hearing this music RAIN is very beautiful and battery Ringo proves that he is the greatest drummer of all time. This song was one of the greatest revolutions in contemporary music.
are they speaking backwards at the end? what are they saying. the only backwards lyrics (not from revolution 9) i can remember is "gnik nus eht semoc ereh"
@000xyz It's just an earlier part of the tape switched over. Nothing special or mysterious, but it does sound good and fits the psychedelic vibe of the Revolver era.
Fact: In the recording you just heard, Lennon is doing his own backup vocal on the "Rain, I don't mind. Shine, the weather's fine." By panning your stereo left and right you can hear the different parts; and on some of the takes, he was a bit sharp and cracking, but not to the detriment of the song. Great tune; one of my fav's.
@spyder79z : I'm 55 years old, and have never heard a better bass player than Paul. I'm serious. I've heard a lot of bass players in my lifetime, but never better than Paul, no matter what I think of him personally.
what a fucking brilliant and underrated beatles tune !!..now you know where bands like oasis got there sound !..they ripped it off from these 2 albums..revolver and rubber soul !! beatles are the masters in the history of modern of rock n roll as we all know it !! and i hope that over weight ,degenerate, mentally unstable, delusional, useless waste of human skin mark chapman rots in his solitary confinement jail cell and is never allowed to see the light of the sun ever again, for killing john !
The studio audience is viewing this as a "video" taped for the Ed Sullivan Show in 1966. Since this was a new single and probaly 99% of the people in the audience had never heard this song before (not to mention that "Rain" was the official B-side and "Paperback Writer" the A-side), it's not difficult to understand them clapping at what sounds like the ending of the song. The Beatles had several songs that faded out and then faded back in ("Helter Skelter", "Strawberry Fields Forever", etc.)
To Xmenfan246 - Let's not forget "She Said She Said". Ringo's drumming is excellent on this song and the recording quality of it (as well as everything on "Revolver") is superb!
@BronxNYE206St nowadays every Beatles song is underated. the drummer in my band asked who the 4 musicians where in the picture that i saved as my background desktop wallpaper on my computer. long story short. We have a new drummer ... our manager said he should be shot for asking that.
@GHOSTakaOzz did i say you guess are ruff? i said that right? i like your statement that all their songs are underated. very good. i grew up with them, i had every album they put out and i thought every song they did was a #1 song. i can not think of one beatles song i don't like. can you??
@GHOSTakaOzz Yeah, he should've been shot for that. A girl in my class asked me if the 4 guys in my desktop wallpaper were my friends. I seriously questioned whether she should still be my friend.
@1982pencil It's like the two girls in the music store looking at a Beatles album and one of them comments, "Hey, check this out...Paul was in a band before Wings!" (Some things were just not meant to fall thru the generation gap.)
@fangiopiacentini right, damn beatles and their good ideas, fade in at the beggining of a song, videos, hidden messages, revert music, and so on and on...
Yes. At the time they recorded these songs, they were still touring but getting tired of it. So, instead of making live appearances on shows all over the world, because their demand was so high they decided to just make a video of their latest single and send the tape of it to Ed Sullivan. Now, of course everyone makes a video to promote their latest single. In essence, the Beatles did in fact invent MTV!

I definitely like Ringo's haircut from 1966.
I've always wished to pull off having hair that length & have bangs for myself.
Without haircuts like that, it wouldn't have progressed to the height of what it had by the later years...namely the 1980s.
