Fact: In the recording you just heard, Lennon is doing his own backup vocal on the "Rain, I don't mind. Shine, the weather's fine." By panning your stereo left and right you can hear the different parts; and on some of the takes, he was a bit sharp and cracking, but not to the detriment of the song. Great tune; one of my fav's.

The studio audience is viewing this as a "video" taped for the Ed Sullivan Show in 1966. Since this was a new single and probaly 99% of the people in the audience had never heard this song before (not to mention that "Rain" was the official B-side and "Paperback Writer" the A-side), it's not difficult to understand them clapping at what sounds like the ending of the song. The Beatles had several songs that faded out and then faded back in ("Helter Skelter", "Strawberry Fields Forever", etc.)

So, instead of making live appearances on shows all over the world, because their demand was so high they decided to just make a video of their latest single and send the tape of it to Ed Sullivan. Now, of course everyone makes a video to promote their latest single. In essence, the Beatles did in fact invent MTV!

@LerafoLuap Oh shut up! First off, they haven't "copied" or even "sampled" any beatles songs, its called being "influenced". Second, they don't even sound similar to the beatles except for a couple sound effects that sound a bit beatlesey and besides, thats what rocks all about using previously made riffs and changing em and stuff. It's not like the beatles are angels, I believe the bass line to "I Saw Her Standing There" is DIRECTLY taken form some Chuck Berry song if you care to look it up.
