@glazaart This debate is pointless. Its ALL a colab! The new fleet is British made, the old one French? Who cares, its a great system, although its cheaper to fly now.
@GeoWantsToBeCoolLike Yes i know, It is one of the good european collaboration. Btw the fleet (the current or new one) is either french (Altom) or german ( Siemens) but not british....
Soon one will be able to travel by train from Mumbai to Lima, Peru, via the new crossing planne for the Bearing Strait.
.
It will take less time by train than by boat to make such a journey; when completed, there will be no need to change trains, either, it will be an express train.

With the ferry to england, that is simply the best way to cross the channel. Departure from Belgium or France. Book never to eurotunnel. Take the ferry and enjoy a mini cruse experience with a nice view. For over 150 years of ferry experience, which can count. Eurotunnel, you will lose. Enter campaign against eurotunnel. With his all in 2009 against euro tunnel. Ferry friends
pal i agree that in pherry you can see the channel and you have a great view but there is no need to close the eurotunnel.the eurotunnel is a great passage from europe to great britain and if you want to see the nice of the channel just dont go throw the tunnel but theres no need to close the tunnel.
How is the ferry the best way to get to england from france the plane is probably the best way and not many people would want to take a cruise across the channel anyway. Eurotunnel can get get you thre quicker than ferry.
Plane is about two hours slower than train if you take in check in times and connections. You are unlikely to do paris to london in under 4 hours. Airport alone can be 40 mins out of city then check in time, hour 50 minute flight and getting back into the city centre. Eurostar centre to centre 2 hours 13 minutes
AlaricPether: Let me amend that: there will be no need to "break the back" of the imperial oligarchy; it is, as we can see in broad daylight, self-destructing before our very eyes. It is only to be hoped that the ongoing world-financial crash will not drag us all down with it.
how is the eurostar? i have to take it from london to paris next june as part of a senior trip. i'm from the u.s. and i have no idea what the eurostar is like...
You're really a dick. She's obviously not been on it before and is attempting to find out what it's like. Tell us, what's the Staten Island like? You probably don't know. But we wouldn't fault you and your fellow compatriots for not knowing that. Asshole.

Or is it "Eats Shoots, & Leaves"? ... or is it "Eats, Shoots, & Leaves"? ... You will be amused as well as instructed!
The Eurostar is awesome. I've taken it from London to Paris and vice-versa and it's a great way to see the countryside and is a very comfortable trip. The new St. Pancras station will be open for when you go and the trip will be just over two hours long instead of the 3 hours that it's previously taken. You'll love it.
Hi, laurenlovesmark: you can tell from this video just how fast (186 mph), smooth and quiet this excellent train is. Economy seating is great, but 1st Class is luxurious. And now that the beautiful St. Pancras station is open, the line all the way to London is high-speed all the way. I live in S. California, and I wonder what kind of idiocy has suppressed the construction a State, let alobne a National High-Speed System; our freeways are mostly expensive parking lots.
Its not just the US. Eurostar is as fast as the UK is going to get. The British government and rail operators aren't willing to pump the in funds needed to build high speed lines through out the country. We only got 300kph lines in Kent because it was an Anglo French project.
Yes, AlaricPether: This is indeed disgraceful; it is beacuse of the filthy & evil "philosophy" of the so-called English "enlightenment" (anything but) — of Locke, Hobbes, A. Smith, J. Bentham et al., which, despicably expanded thru the British (Brutish) & Dutch East India Companies (Private Imperial Ownership Oligarchy), then updated via Friedman/Von Hayek/Thatcher, remakes of the "market" a tyrannical god. Break the back of this evil system & we can then build HSR/Maglev.
AlaricPether (Cont): If sane & decent minds prevail, and the supine, flaccid and appeasing U.S. Congress finds its spine and sinew, it will be realized that only the restoration of the Republican Party to the Abraham Lincoln policy outlook, and the restoration of the Democratic Party to the policy outlook of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, will suffice to save our Republic.
laurenlovesmark: So, when you finally have the good fortune to ride this train, the dedicated High-Speed line all the way between Paris-Nord to London St. Pancras will have been operating for seven months. Check out some of the other excellent videos of High-Speed trains in France, Italy, Germany & Japan, and the Maglev in Germany & Shanghai. Bon Voyage!
laurenlovesmark: If you enter: St. Pancras to Paris Eurostar, in the YouTube search field, you will find a number of amateur videos all showing the new line which was inaugurated November 14, just under a month ago; it is on this train and from/to this station you will be travelling in June — I hope you have a lovely trip!
laurenlovesmark: There are also some pro and semi-pro videos — some are somewhat tacky, but they all convey some of the sense of how fast, quiet, and smooth the jouney is; I hope that your experience will be such that you'll become an ardent advocate for an all-out effort to implement a National High-Speed Rail and Maglev project for the whole of the United States!

Staten Island is is very nice. I am an Art Director by trade so it's gallery's and museums really impress me but apart from that it's well...
It was all farm land 'till the 60's.
And the Eurostar will soon be picking up it's speed through the UK to match the 180mph that it does throughout the continent.
