Yeah I noticed many Deaf people use "LOL" thru DVTV since I joined DVTV few weeks ago. When my first view someone's vlog thru dvtv, I saw someone said "LOL" with no expression, I was like "WTF"?!?

Damn, you too? That's one of my pet peeves. I never say LOL in fingerspell or anything like that except I type LOL in the computer when I really am laughing. When I sign, I usually go with "haha" with my facial expression. Damn you nail it right on the head because LOL is way overused and obsolete. Other word I hate the most is LOLZ. I was like what the fuck is Z after LOL?!?!? That is a huge turn off. Great vlog, Ridor and Gador!

Try researching a bit further than staying on Wikipedia.

I'm amazed that Wikipedia is as useful and accurate as it is - kinda fascinating - but it isn't too hard to find errors, either.

My first time ever I seen "LOL" was on AOL in long time ago. There is many abbreviation for communication in cyberspace. You would like to check "LOL" for more information in Wikipedia. You should use Wikipedia often to make your researching easier. For deaf people, they need to use facial expression. That is what Deaf culture is. :)

And LChaim - the word was obviously made by a hearing person. I know that for sure. But the exact history of the word LOL, I am not sure. But a hearing person definitely created this word, along with gr8, lmao, rofl, l8r, etc. Like gr8 - it does sound like gr-eight when you speak it, so that's why people say gr8 - easier to type.

I am glad I am not only one feel that way. I found it's strange when people says LOL in person or a video because I am used to type LOL in chatroom or chat with someone on instant message. I had never say LOL in person. I kept separate from computer's language and in person's language for many years. I assumed that they had adapted with LOL because they thought it is real cool to say in person or a video. I started notice that last fall when I was in college by hanging out w/ young people.

She looked at me like I'm retarded. I usually said HAHA. Speaking of HAHA, same co-worker I asked, her daughter who is in teens now. That's something for us to think about.  The term LOL used in vlog or in person really getting on my nerves. I use "HAHAHA" or just show my true laughing. I just don't get people who does that. I suppose your may be right... those low functional people... or maybe their life are all computerized now. Unfortunate of us that we had to put up with this foolishness!
