Truly food for the soul. Words of Poe, unmistakable voice of Wells, and last but not least the musical genius of Alan Parsons. Stunning combination. Love it.
@Thereisonlythemoment I'm in total agreement. The intro with the voice of Orson Wells is wondrous. The music/imagery is too sublime for words. Truly, this is the stuff that dreams are made of.
Alan Parsons & Eric Woolfson, writing musical interpretations for some of Edgar Alan Poe's works, with Orson Welles providing narration. All that can be said is, "Genius!" & "Amazing!" The Parsons-Woolfson team is no more, since the passing of Eric, but the musical realm of Theater Rock will live on.
Be warned people, this ISN'T the original recording of this album. Its the crappy Mercury record company remix. Added guitar solos and obnoxious sounds. Keep it the original and buy the original record. Though, nobody on youtube has the original version. Its a sad day for America and APP fans alike. And yet, nobody noticed this aspect yet
I think i just had a big bang happen ... between my legs , now theres a green funk floating in the cosmic cavity of my room , It seems to have its own energy , turning , twisting , tinging my senses ... We are all characters in God's lucid dream. We are not truly conscious, just enough to believe ourselves to be conscious. All life is matter and spirit.
All matter is energy. Energy is spirit. All energy is light, all energy came from the "big bang". The light became hydrogen and helium, which became ethyl alcohol and vinegar (still huge clouds of them there today), which became stone and water, which became other elements. Life is light mingled with clay and water.
"Dawn puked in my ear, it smelled like moldy pudding.". I believe what Edgar Allan Poe was getting at was his fancy was setting down words that struck his fancy. Not his fancy being putting down ideas in to words. But what the Poe wants the Poe gets I guess? Care for a chit chat?
It's quite clear that all we are is merely players in d ream conceived within a dream to be watched by those who are willing in the overwhelming presence of mind being in continuous destruction

I´ve knew alan parsons 30 years ago, actually i have the full album Tales of mystery..(downloaded from ares), and i put the headset to enjoy every morning while in trian to the work. I´m from Argentina (sorry for my bad english), sometimes i feel as i´am the only one doing this in argentina. But I found sense since i´ve read the "Tales" E. A. Poe, so i (think) understand the book and the song as a rare miracle and as Orson says: I have found it absolutely impossible to adapt to language!!!
if a dream is classified with what seems to be reality, then yes, everything is a dream. all of our interpretations are made by the human brain, using all 5 senses, to classify specific details
@joe7289786 all of our realities are made up of our senses. If a dream is real enough to include sensation, vision, hearing, and taste, Out minds can not draw a distinction between the two. It is only our concious mind that draw a distinction. That is why we sweat when running in our dreams
@joe7289786 This is true, however unthinking thinkability is just our interpration of thoughless thinking and should never be confused with the unknowing thought of thinking things thoughtless without giving any thought to thinking things through our dreaming thoughts of thinkability
The Alan Parsons project has always been a favorite with me. And it figures that with Dark Side Of The Moon where Alan Parsons was the engineer and mentor for the band The Floyd ended up being flavored with APP's sound...forever.
That video was very well done. Haven't hauled that CD out in a while. I think I bought three separate vinyl copies back in the day. When one got too noisy to listen to, I'd buy another copy.
Dream, ah, to dream... as the reality is that we each reconstruct the world we sense and understand upon the internal mirror of our mind I see no functional difference between the more isolated dreams of slumber from those of waking consciousness, either way we are still dreaming reality.
My first and foremost favourite song and first and foremost album that I enjoy and of the immense talent of both Alan Parsons and Edgar Allen Poe. What a beautiful fusion of the two ideals. So amazingly simple but so complex in its beauty and adapatation.

The songs are nothing alike, considering genre, but that series of notes that is in boths songs,in alan parsons song is slower, and in Phoenix's song is faster.hope you can finally understand what i was talking about all this time.
Maybe I've been listening to too much deadmau5, but I totally could hear "Moar Ghosts 'N Stuff" playing in the background at the very beginning...or I'm drunk. Whatever.
To Cuzindude. Touched by your sentiments and emotions. The future as you dream it must be now, or you wouldn't KNOW it when it happens to you in "this" dimension which for you is NOW. Therefore must all be a dream within a dream.
One of my eariest childhood memories was waking up from a dream and seeing my waking moments as nothing but a contniuation of that dream. As I have grown older, sleep has given me glimpses of what is real and what is yet to come. I see the future, not knowing it will happen unitl it plays out in my waking moments as it did in slumber . It all runs together so much so that I feel my entire life has been naught but a dream, within a dream.
@Cuzindude i feel the same, but where does choice fill in though? because of choice fate cannot be what we beleive it to be right? and then these experiences would just be coincidences?
SO nice to see all the youtube videos for this bands inspiring tunes so artistically collaborated. Is there a discography released and if not, why not?

@GrowndCrewMember I never knew that!!! No wonder their music kept me alive during the darker parts of my life!!! And now I work in Egypt as an Earth/consciousness healer!!!!
Can somebody name me some song or band that sound similar to the album Tales of Mystery and Imagination " from The Alan Parsons Project? It will be very appreciate I love so much this kind of prog rock and eerrie music.
@pinoa7x APP was of course quite unique, but it did a total of 10 concept albums. I Robot and Pyramid particularly are much prog rock like Tales. APP, by its concept, featured many artists, most of which have/had their career of their own. See our channel for more info.
@pinoa7x not as dark but musicaly comparable: the moody blues, days of future past, or on the threshold of a dream or ..wel their first 7 cd's pink floyd animals, al stewert past present and future ,year of the cat or a lttle harder with cool concept themes uriah heep- the magicians birthday
Alan Parsons war damals meine Zeit. Es war Winter, ich saß an der Heizung und hörte stundenlang AP. Ich sang die Texte mit und lies mich in andere Welten tragen. In diesem Moment war ich glücklich und das ganz ohne Drogen.
As I stand upon the shores of Time, the Universe, like the sands beneath me, expands beyond the range of my Vision, yet I sense oblivion within the darkest reaches as my Master beckons me to another Creation. Reality is lost within my grasp like the granules pouring forth between my fingers, as the mystical rose pricks me with the thorn of another dimension. Yet within them all, you are with me and I am become complete. Traverse the stars with me, my love, that all ruin is put to rest.
it matters not how great a stretch in time there is between caressing the ears with such pleasures as this...the alan parsons project still tantalises the senses to the extreme
What an incredible album. Now have the cd's (1's the remaster).

Inception!!!!

Can somebody name me some song or band that sound similar to the album Tales of Mystery and Imagination " from The Alan Parsons Project? It will be very appreciate I love so much this kind of prog rock and eerrie music.
pinoa7x 1 year ago
@pinoa7x APP was of course quite unique, but it did a total of 10 concept albums. I Robot and Pyramid particularly are much prog rock like Tales. APP, by its concept, featured many artists, most of which have/had their career of their own. See our channel for more info.

For my own part I have never had a thought which I could not set down
in words with even more distinctness than that with which I conceived it
There is a class of fancies of exquisite delicacy which are not
thoughts to which as yet I have found it impossible to
adapt to language fancies arise in the soul alas how rarely
Only at epochs of most intense tranquillity when the bodily and mental
health are in perfection, those weird points of time where the
confines of the waking world blend with
