I think this is Everett de Roche's best script. Shame they had to Americanise the remake. Or even make it at all. Trying to improve upon perfection and fucking it up totally.

this is an amazing gem. found it more emotionally powerful than walkabout. it's got everything: life, marriage, man/woman, self/nature, logic/hysteria, "the other people", sea cow, dismembered barbie doll.

I saw this when I was eight, it freaked me out and I got a little freaked out from my dog after seeing this movie, I thought she was going to eat me....

and This movie is really fantastic. Now the americans are remaking it....

The remake was done by Jamie Blanks, an Australian filmmaker, who worked with the original screenwriter. The film was shot, produced and edited in Australia, not America. It's an Australian remake of an Australian film... I'm really looking forward to seeing it though.

I am someone who just doesnt get the shit scared out of me in any movie, i think i would be able to make a scarier film than just about any movie out there. But i remember seeing this as a kid and to this day i think its the scariest movie ever. To anyone who has seen it lately, does that sound true or was i just scared cos i was a kid when i saw it?
