I have just been to Egypt and saw the garbage city first hand as i was doing a project on it!
it was amazing to see the conditions these people live in!
this documentry actually captures parts of it!
these people really need help but they are neglected from the rest of Cairo as people don't associate with them due to the fact that most suffer from illnesses such as hepatitis.
First of all, it is not "Muslim Music"; please educate yourself, it is the Azan, or the Call to Prayer. The Azan is heard 5 times throughout the day in ALL OF EGYPT, as well as the church bells. Muslims and Coptics live harmoniously all throughout the country. Also, Cairo is known as the city of Minarets. The population in Egypt is 92% Muslim and 8% Coptic Christian.
ramma what is wrong with you, huh? whether or not the population of muqattam are mainly christian or not you should disregard small things like the music track or the Islamic connotations because what do they matter when a project like this clearly benefits all Cairns: Muslim, Christian flora and fauna
Underpriveliged people in Egpyt to not only improve their socioeconomic status, but also to clean the air and the land. It is wonderful to see a different persepective on garbage; indeed, to view it as something valuable and useful. I would like to see the day where the whole concept of garbage in general disappaers.
I enjoyed the music and the message of this video. It strikes me as crucial that we view the issues of global warming and poverty in a manner that allows us to solve both problems at the same time. Solar Cities is doing just that by empowering
I was very impressed with this video. It really opened my eyes to what is really going on in Egypt and what people can do to help solve some of the issues there.
Fantastic video. I applaud Michele and Andy for this production.
Hana Fathy of the Zabaleen added, "In our church the priest says, "God is the greatest garbage collector and recycler of all -- he takes our sins, our filth and our broken faith and cleanses us and makes us whole again. We should do no less!"
We hope those who view this video will come out and join us in creating a million solar roofs in Cairo and bringing clean energy to create the kind of Cairo Mahmoud Dardeer so eloquently describes in your video!
As our dear friend and colleague, Hana Fathy of the Zabaleen said, "if people could see through our eyes, they would know that we can do amazing things with what God has given us, even the things people think of as waste or garbage. It just takes commitment, inventiveness, hard work and investment.
