oh come on rian you know what showchoircritic means.... and personally i agree. but its weird doing street tap with show choir costumes, so i understand why they did it.
i understand what you're coming from. I know the song, in context, is about discrimination and trying to rise from it. From my point of view, though, it could be about more than just racism and discrimination when it is taken out of context, as it is here. I guarantee that most people in there have experienced struggle at some point in their lives; I know the director would not just choose a song because she likes it, but also because the kids relate to it and can portray the right emotion.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
why did they do this song? why!! most of those kids have no idea what that song is about and even if they did they still have no point of reference to relate.
most of these kids? what are you referring to when you say that? how do you know what people go through in their lives? if you mean to say that the individuals in counterpoints don't know struggle, then you are seriously, SERIOUSLY mistaken.
I said MOST not all. I'm sure there are a few they kind of have an idea, but the majority of the kids in that choir will NEVER understand what it feels like for an entire society to discriminate against you or hate you because of your race. That's just a fact. I'm sure their director just picked the song bcuz he liked it.
at what? counterpoints hell week last year? I'm in counterpoints, jackie only sang it live maybe twice, CP hell week and some dinner at the indianapolis library for a group of neurosurgeons.
I think i am going to have to post the Original set that they did at Ben Davis.
It's a little embarrassing, because it just DOES NOT look like North Central, But i think it really shows the caliber of this group. For them to turn around a dud of a show like they had at Ben Davis into THIS. is just awesome.
Congrats PC (i have to be honest, like the show more than Burroughs now)

Thank God they changed the word "been" from ben to bin. That was my only problem with that song for the longest time.
