During this week of Thanksgiving, lets put these facts in perspective when we think about to whom to thank: CNN Headline News did a report regarding the American automakers $30 million contribution plus vehicle donations to the recovery efforts after 9/11. How much did foreign automakers donate right after 9/11? Honda: Nothing, Toyota: Nothing, Volkswagen: $2M, Hyundai: $300K. All Other Foreign Automakers: Nothing. Whenever the time may be for you to consider a new vehicle, keep this in mind.
Idiot, how are GM and Chrysler's sales numbers for November? A collective 30% drop from October. Another government program that has worked oh so well.
It's OK for these foreign companies to take money out of this country, but it is apparently not acceptable to return any money in a time of crisis, like 9/11. BTW, if no one wanted to buy American cars, why does GM alone hold the #1 market share both in the U.S. and in the world? So many politicians don't know a lick about the auto industry - they didnt read about the electric Chevy Volt coming out in 2 yrs that the media is all hyped about. P.S., lot of people buy Trucks to carry heavy stuff.

The auto companies cannot increase fuel efficiency because they are beholden to the Oil Companies who write the laws governing those matters.

If it wasn't for the workers on the factory floor, I would want the automakers to fail.
It would be better for congress to give the money to the auto workers, rather than to give temporary assitance to the companies.

Even if they infuse 250 billion $US the auto industry is a dead beat, it will take them at least a decade to realign with the modern market demands.
