Has anyone played on a cheap (around $30 on amazon) Meinl didge? Are they worth getting if you want to learn didge, or should I just put the cash in for something better?
@Dergfight If you want to learn, go buy a 4 foot piece of PVC pipe 2 inches wide and use that, that's how I learned, it works good. The hardest part is the circle breathing.
@Dergfight You should always get the best you can afford. Most likely the one for $30 is bambo and not coated on the inside which will lead to cracking. I can answer any questions you have just send me a message. It is definitely an instrument worth learning and its so much fun.
how long did it take you to learn to circular breath? I've just gotten a didgeridoo, and I love playing it, but I cant get my circular breathing down. I've only had it for a few days, so I know its going to need a lot more practice.
If you have some time come check out my featured video of Xfactor dude (Phoenix) who showed up out of the blue at my show in Austin last week to back me playing Bon Jovi Dead or Alive with his didgereedoo... TTT aka Triple T
Remember having a-few lessens when I was little. Trying to play again now 12 year later I can't get those complex sound out. Plus I'm playing on a dige way to big for my mouth. I'll have to track down some bee wax.
..very good for this time only. i needed longer for these exercises. playing since 2001, learned from phil conyngham. he always says: "it needs time." everytime good breathing for you and greetings from germany

Of all the places to play your didgi - in the latrine??!!! :) Man, that has got to creep out people who come visit you, but heck!! It's your talent, and from the sound of it (literally), you ROCK!!!! Does it sound better in a closed area, or doesn't it matter (just wonder w you were playing in the latrine. :) ). My Pan flute sounds best when it echoes in a large area (for it to echo); just wondering if it's the same with the didgi
Ok... I just started 6 weeks ago and alrady doing circular breathing... but far far behind from where you are... so nice to see you going far, and sharing it... will keep you as a 10 month reference and will respond witha video 10 months later...
Awesome....I've been practicing on and off for a couple years and am nowhere close to that. Are you circular breathing or bounce breathing? KILLER jaw drops too!
I just got a didgeridoo and am trying to teach myself how to play, and I have to say that this really inspired me to keep on going. Just 10 months? Pure talent :)
Killer work. I've played for about 4 years, and am right around your skill level here and you've only played for 10 months in this video? Nicely done.
Damn, that's some good playing. I've gone so far as to make a mouthpiece for my Didj five minutes agi, so I have a long way to go. Diggin' the music, man.
nice goin, started last week and am getting the hang of circular breathing now. Can't seem to do vocalization out though, not enough space between lips or air escaping, or simply coming through nose instead <.<
I learned the basics when a friend of mine had one and i just put in an order for a cheap one, i figure i'll practice, get my breathing and things down, THEN buy a good one.
This is amazing !! I just got a very cheap didgeridoo but my first thought is that it does not produce the sound like yours. It's 52 inches long. Am I right or just don't know how to play it?
@piterfromwawa a little bit of both. a well practiced didge player can make all sounds on any didge. just how they come out is different from didge to didge.
@piterfromwawa On one of my training CD's it's stated that what you hear is not what others hear. The player hears a lot of sound from the vibrating bones of his own head. To get a better idea of what you sound like to others, move to the bathroom like Rodrik does.
Dude, forget the strepsil, you need an enema after honking on this down under instrument....but I will pass this on to some of the guys in the castro district...they will love you
Great sound !! Very helpful for people like me coming along a few months behind you with the didge. We're looking for direction and challenges and this is it !!
Great cicular breathing. Nice drones, sounds great. some more rhythem and voice would add a cool touch. Get tha ta ta ti ti ta going on and you'll be even better. Great playing though, ya learn fast. =D
sweet! I play now for about one year too, and I nearly play as good. I think you should do more rythm, the sounds are really great. but the rythm.. i mean its very good, but you qould variate it more! well, check out my didge vid, and tell me what you think please. greets, ben

Yes, this is very important, especially if you play a lot and if you play fast rhytms. Infact a used to do your same mistake and I had some pain to my chest.
Thanks for the advice, ill be aware of it,i think my chest moves because i push the diaphragm strongly, but ill try to be conscious of it,any suggestions to make it different?
