Now that's the Pat Travers that I learned to love in the 70's...The meanest treatment of a Telecaster that I've ever seen. Mars Cowling & Sandy Genero make a great Power Trio.
Get "Go For What You Know" if you can find it... Tommy Aldridge and Pat Thrall play on that and it is the top Travers album. This being the first tune on it.
@BloozeRockJunky this i know. i have been a fan of mars for 30 years. he is 62. he was the greatest influence on my bass playing. still, what a bassist!
@BloozeRockJunky He just played last friday night in my home town of Fairfield CA. Very small club. I didnt go though. Had a prior engagement. The place he played was the old movie theater I used to go to when i was a kid. Pepperbellys. After hereing this i could kick myself. the last time i saw him was about 31 yrs ago. Awesome, Old Waldorf SF CA
@blindmellonchittlen Yep, PT's still around, releases new material every couple of years. Mars retired from music in the late '90's and lives in FL. He likes to fish a lot.
@BloozeRockJunky Pat was lucky to have such a great bass player, you can tell Mars really holds things together. Would you recomend any of Pats newer stuff? thanks Bill
@blindmellonchittlen PT's got a great band now. He released a live CD recorded in Europe couple of years back that rocks. His blues-oriented stuff from the 1990's is also excellent--the 1992 "Blues Tracks" CD features Aynsley Dunbar on drums, and the 1994 "Blues Magnet" is also great---really heavy guitar tones.
@lysyrg25 Unfortunately there's not much video of Pat Travers during his peak period with Aldridge on drums. I've posted 2 videos from 1980, that's all I've ever seen. PT's appearance at the 1980 Reading Music Festival was supposedly filmed, but I've never seen it.
Niko Mcbain (Drums) went on to massive success with Iron Maiden. Though I prefer the Pat Thrall/Tommy Aldridge records, Niko had some chops no question! Pat Travers put the DOD Flanger on the map! Him and Thrall had some of the coolest guitar tones! I saw the PTB open for Rush circa' 1980. They were LOUDER than shit! Without question along with AC/DC, one of the LOUDEST concerts I've ever heard! "Go For What You Know" is a *must have* for any rock record collection. Long live Rock n" Roll!!!!!!!
Agreed! I've posted two videos from 1980 featuring Thrall on guitar. Travers' 1980 appearance at the Reading Music Festival in England was supposedly filmed, but I've never seen any video from it. Stuff from Travers' peak period is very rare indeed.....
sore travis 79 think apollo mancester.. suported by girl .. me and my mate got pist with them . phil colen nice guy... phil lewis was shaggin miss ekland at time...
First time I seen Pat Travers actually was my first concert ever. He was with Scorpions and Ted Nugent ( Scream Dream tour ) PT threw his guitar high in the air and he missed and his guitar went boom! heh, heh
Well, I sincerely was hooked on this....I found it quite remarkable that his style and ....what I found refreshing his persona did not receive the wider.... recognition I felt he deserved! I played out a lot of air guitars in my head in those days!!!
FUCK YOU WORKKKKKKK............... CAUSE HOOKED ON MUSICCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC
