@bradshawvincent Not just intelligent but bloody beautiful it was.And my good how much I would like to be 25 again and on the shores of fantastic Adriatic coast with somebody as ravishing as Mariska. 3 chords/break/chorus,lovely..So was Jimmy,or Cream and they RULED the world!!
@pajebotebog err when i said intelligent i was being ironic!! not exactly dylans lyrical genius is it. if this mariska were not a long haired sexy woman would anyone be defending them???
This is the base to "punk rock". And after all I this is more pop / rock. So ... I am 36 years younger then you and I hope you aren't 54 - I would suppose you are 12 so before you make a comment think through it , you fucking cunt.
hey who even remembers these rubbish bands except obsessive idiots like you??? punk rock came from working class roots not middle class twits like these and probably you.
Apparently you remember those. Not many people around me that are a bit older than me haven't even heard about Shocking Blue but personally I find it very enjoyable and let those who enjoys it do so and don't be some weirdo complaining about music you apparently are listening to and searching for. Regarding the roots of this music, I might be wrong indeed as I sadly didn't live around these ages and can only build my own picture of the whole roots with help of a bit more older people, sadly.
Read anything about Malcolm McLaren and you would know how much he loved and respected Shocking Blue...tsk tsk tsk for not doing your homework before you posted something stupid....
@zombielust1969 i dont need to do home work or read any books mate i was there! malcolm mclaren is an upper class twit too but luckily the sex pistols were brilliant.a breath of fresh air that blew all the hippy eletist crap like this into the dustbin of history.
Wow you are delusional, the Sex Pistols were neither brilliant or a breath of fresh air, they were created by Malcolm and had no talent whatsoever. And it makes no difference if you were "there", you couldnt hear then and you cant hear now...
i suggest if you think this is great you are delusional and need a musical education. this should include (in no particular order) the sex pistols, the clash, iggy pop, velvet underground, bob dylan, joy division, beatles, stones, robert johnson,pj harvey, nick cave,bo diddley and especially the fall. "i still believe in the rock and roll dream, rock and roll as primal scream" mark e smith (the fall)
@bradshawvincent Dear Vince,Your elaborate pop encyclopaedic knowledge is impressive ,but I must agree with zombie 1969.I have seen Malcolms SP,in Greyhound pub.Malcolm turned up in massive Rolls Royce. They failed to finish the gig.Ended up in a brawl on the stage.I have opened this page on YT to show my respects to the most under rated contraalto in pop music. Miss Veres was doing her stuff all her life to the delight of a very small group off followers.. No Loadssamoneyyy music here mate!!
@pajebotebog yes with progressive rock the pendulum swung to too much towards inflated egotism. how refreshing it was to see a rain of spit falling on the clash and all the seats being torn up.back to basics and realizing you can do it too. most of the best manchester bands were in the audience of the sex pistols gig there in 1976. as shown in control the film about joy divisions ian curtis.
@zog97xy well that just isnt true.he was namechecked from the early 70s and by 1976 when funhouse was re released all the punks, including me,were pogoing around our rooms to it.
I was born in 1960. So I was about 9 when "Venus" came out. Of course, it was on AM radio everyday. As a very musically inclined nine-year-old, I was spending my money from shovelling driveways and cutting grass on 45s, mostly Beatles songs. But I did buy the 45 of "Venus", and "Hot Sand" was the flip side. Be sure to visit our YouTube channel to hear our PROWLERS music!
marvelous. I too had the 45 RPM with Venus and this on the B side. Might have been a year or two before I even listened to the flip side then it was quite haunting. One of their better songs in my opinion. Oh what memories of long ago. The voices and singing just seemed to carry more emotion.
I remember learning all about my tool and spankin' it to this lil' number! It's so fuckin' beatnik....Yeah. I ran out and bought the Venus 45rpm. and this was on the flipside....never looked back.

@unethicaldenier I was born in 1973, and ditto, I know this song since my childhood, form a tape. She was half-Hungarian, I didn't know it.
1973-ban születtem, és én is kisgyerek korom óta ismerem ezt a számot, egy szalagról. Nem is tudtam, hogy félig magyar. :)
