As someone who is trans-identified and who has long self-medicated with female hormones, I can certainly understand your situation.
I have always resented the "gate-keeper" aspect of the Benjamin standards, and the notion that only "an expert" can determine if you are "ready" for hormones and/or SRS.
I agree that self-diagnosis is the key, and honestly believe it is more important to surround yourself with a support network of friends and others going through this.
while self medicating in itself can be beneficial, there are real, dangerous and permanently life changing effect of HRT that must not be played down.
I totally agree with your stance. I do believe we have an advantage over the so-called professional from a medical and psychological perspective. Good vid!
I can understand the "connectedness" you have with your body, I became very intune with my body and it's signals after I was diagnosed with HIV 20 years ago....I know every tweak and pain...and I also self-medicate. I have an ear infection now also, and I had anti-biotics on hand so I just started on them instead of visiting a doctor...great video, insightful!
@MainelyButch yes, every prescription drug is cheaper from overseas. as long as that option remains available, I shall avail myself of it. We may not be doctors, but we know what it takes to keep us healthy, and as long as we're healthy and happy, isn't that the point?

Self diagnosis without a real understanding of the life long consequences is very dangerous.
