  • This song is way better on the mandolin. You should get a longer recording with better sound, I can't stop listening to this.

  • man i wanna learn this song, his fingers are to fast for me at this point haha

  • wowo fantastic!!!!

this song has a title?? do you have make this song on your own or it exsisted before you?? :D i would really like to know

  • @godril90 The song does indeed have a title but I forgot it by the time I put it up here on youtube. I was having my friend Cesare play it so I could film his fingers in order for me to learn, I would have shown his face if I would known that it would end up here. I hope to see him again soon and post more from him since it is so popular. Maybe thelp him make his own youtube page, if he has not already done so.

  • @godril90

This song is somewhere on youtube, I heard it once before on here but I dont remember where >_<"

  • @godril90

    I found it! I think it's called Yurac Malki, it's here /watch?v=fuOKVNBHQYg

  • @Chichiri520 hell yeah good work fella, you just found it!!!!

  • Do you yourself own one of these five course mandolins? Are they tuned in fourths like an eight course mandolin?

  • @RatherCrunchyMuffin I own the mandolin in the video! A month before, I asked Cesare if he could get me an Andina style mando and he said that his cousin, a luthier, could build one - I picked it up at his booth in Quito's Mercado Artisanas and he was taking it for a "test drive" as I took the clip. It IS tuned as a regular mandolin the top two (thick, bass strings) are doubled but the bottom two are triple.

Suerte.

  • where can you download this?

  • here, do a search for "download youtube video" and you will see a variety of ways to do it... good luck

  • I'm having trouble playing the second part of the song. Do you know the tabs????

  • Nope. I made the video spontaneously while at the market... my original reason for doing so was to learn the song. Keep trying; it is all right there. Maybe you can download it and slow down the playback with some video editing tools. The trick is to learn to do sustained tremelo picking - the tune is almost all tremelo. Good luck.

  • Bad ass dude, god job!

  • what kind of mandolin is this? I can play too, but mine is much thinier..

  • This is an Andean variant of the mando that utilizes triple strings on the the two treble courses - some have triple on all fours. The advantage of 3 strings is that it is louder and makes arpegios easier. It is different from playing a "normal" mando - easier to hit the strings but slower and more of a stretch while chording. Cesar should be back at the Mecado Artisanas in Quito by now if your travels take you to Quito and are interested - he also has charangos, pan pipes and Andean music CDs!

  • i just noticed that! it has 3 strings on the A and E notes! thats interesting... my mandolin has 2 strings (8 together)... Great job! you're playing quite good...

  • It is not ME, as noted in the "More Info" blurb, it is Cesar playing the tune in front of his stall in the Artisanas' Market. He also plays virtuoso fiddle, guitar, zampona and charango - a wonderful musician - I originally recorded this to learn the tune - that is why I didn't show his face very much...

  • so did he write that or is that just a common tune

  • I don't think so, I believe it is an old Andean folk melody, in the "San Juanito" style.

  • Diez estrellas!

  • Very nice playing - well done

  • Damn, that thing's neck is at least 2 or 3 times wider than mine fender A-style's neck. And yeah that does sound kinda celtic.

  • sounds strangely celtic

  • bellaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

  • Reminds me of cold streams and the wind, very lovely.

  • Cool! I love andean music.
