He left a great legacy - positive attitude - athletic talent and musical talent - and that will be remembered for years to come - and will inspire others.
I am laying in bed, trying to find something to inspire me as I struggle with a new diagnosis that is pretty depressing...And this very video pops up in my "suggested videos" section. Thank you Lord, and thank you Wayman for bringing me out of this funk. I know that his smile, and His mercy are here for me to lean on.
On May 19, 2009, I lost my my left leg above the knee in a hit and run car accident and it has been very hard physically and emotional but I will make it. I thank God every day for His blessings and when I see what Wayman went through, there's no way you can't measure his pain, and suffering to mines. Wayman, thank you for your inspiration and I will see you in Heaven my brother. God bless your family Wayman
What an incredibly strong man. I lost both my parents to cancer. I watched them both suffer long painful treatments. Wayman give hope and light to the subject of cancer. Rest in Peace super star
I thought about you today wayman... i was feeling down on myself and I thought about how you had that big smile when you just lost your leg.. you will forever be in my heart. I will never forget your spirit and your love for god. you are heven sent and i know I will see your smile with the lord ... your spirit was too big for your body. rest in eternity with the lord.. thank you for your inspiration! god bess !
Tisdale was the man... He was a great player... I have all his CD's.If he played ball as good as he played the bass... He would have been like Jordan... Wow! 44 years old, I'm 40 and I keep telling people you have to live life to the fullest. I just lost my father and my nephew... He was 18, my best friend called me and lost his nice last week. She was only 18. Please people have fun and just live life. I know the economy is bad, but don't let it stop you from living your life. R.I.P Tisdale.
I know that Wayman is playing for our Lord and Savior, JESUS. Our prayers are with you and your family. Wayman thank you for your rejoicing spirit and example of how to continue to "Fight the Good Fight". Truly you are an Inspiration love you bro. We will miss you!!!
man so sad. I remember seeing this brotha perform (mo betta blues) in the 90's at creep/creek alley off of melrose. great dude. God Speed wayman and the tisdale family.
I'm just getting the news that this precious brotha is no longer with us. But his message and his music lives on ... forever. What a phenomenal man he was. His spirit is like none other!! All I can do is shake my head and say, "Wow!"
RIP my brotha ... and thank you for all that you gave us.
What a beautiful spirit!! I know you are in heaven rejoicing with the Lord. May God smile down on your family and may he bring them peace and comfort. I am truly touched by his faith.
To the Tisdale family, Wayman will always be in our hearts and on our minds!! He is unforgettable and his smile goes as far as his talent!! What a blessing to have been in his presence. Now he's in God's presence always!!
To Wayman's family, may God wrap you in His loving arms & comfort you w/His love & precious memories of Wayman. May He grant you strength & peace. You are in our prayers. What a blessing to have been chosen by God to share life with such a wonderful man. To Wayman's fans, Let's always remember W.T.He will live on through his music, family & gifted way he positively touched the lives of others. His smile...contagious. His faith...inspirational. His spirit...BEAUTIFUL. RIP, my brother. We love you!
Regina, my prayers are with you & your family. Wayman is such a great man! I've been blessed by his music & more importantly by his spirt & belief in God. My 7 yo is w/me as I write. He, too, loves Wayman's music (as do my other babies) & wishes to express his sadness. I cried tears of joy the first time I saw this video. Now, I cry tears of sadness. My heart has been heavy for the last few days. I know that God's will must be done & in this He has a plan. We love you Wayman & will miss you!!!!
His music was refreshing and he didnt get the praise he deserved. The first time I heard his music I was blown away. RIP Wayman! You will live on through your music!
i added this video.. to remind me how lucky i am.. this man was wayyy to good for this planet.. his heart and spirit ... he lost his leg and had a smile as if he won the lotto.. god bless you man.. in death you are inspiring people ... what a legend
I first learned of Waymon in 2006 at the Liberty State Jazz Fest and immediately loved his music and his kind spirit showed at the concert. I signed on to the Smooth Jazz Cruise solely because of him and have gone ever since. I will miss him, but have to believe God knew what he was doing. God bless Waymon.
Oh my god, i just found out. He used to live in the same neighborhood with me in Indiana. I actually played up a pick-up with him. So nice. Such a big man, and quick as hell. If anybody remember him living in Indianapolis, email me. He lived on the West Side, right off of 34th street, during the season.
I'm a Sooner living in the far Pacific on the US island of Saipan. I just came read of Wayman Tisdale's death in the online OKC news.
WHAT A HUMAN BEING... WHAT A MAN! There are few like WT. This video puts a perspective on adversity, doesn't it? Ain't no stoppin' you now. I don't know about harps or elevator music in the great beyond, but I know there's mellow jazz ringing in corners of the cosmos now!
when he said i got my children... and that big smile... made me cry... he has inspired me to not complain about my life so much.. a man who loss his leg and has cancer can smile that big... what a man. we are lucky to have had him here. god take w.t in your arms ...
Wayman Tisdale was one of my all-time favorite Smooth Jazz guitarists.
I knew about his bout with bone cancer but in recent interviews he seemed to have been much better. He talked about getting back into the studio to record and even doing a jazz cruise. Yesterday morning Wayman lost his battle with cancer. I saw him once play basketball for the Indiana Pacers, but unfortunately I never saw him play the bass guitar in person. He will be misseed. I'm glad that I have some of his music on CD's.
Ive had the opportunity to have two conversations with Wayman, once at the Michael Jordan camp with Marcus Miller at UCSB and another time at a Marcus Miller concert at UCLA. Im a fellow bass player and he did not hold back his knowledge in discussing the instrument with me. He was a very down to earth person, just an all around great guy. He will be missed. My regards to the Tisdale family, friends and fans. (Revelation 21: 1- 5)
RIP Wayman Tisdale. It breaks my heart just watching this. Nevertheless, I know he is now with the Lord Jesus Christ, where things are always new, always alive. My prayers for his family.
So sorry to hear this. My husband and I saw him in concert and had a great time. He seemed like such a wonderful person. Peace and prayers to his family.
Thank you Lord for people like Wayman Tisdale to help miserable people like me wake up and smell the roses. I have so much to be thankful for and sometimes we need a ray of light and hope like Wayman to remind us.

I just saw him play in southwest Florida in late March. You could tell he was struggling toward the end. needless to say, he put on one hell of show and had everyone dancing. sorry to hear of his passing. and to the poster's comments on here which are negative. grow the hell up and get a life of your own.. You are a complete waste of life.

Hmmm...and who are you to be talking smack about this great man? What have you accomplished in life? Not much because you obviously have NO SENSE to be talking this way about someone so wonderful on the day he died. God help you.
What a sad, sad loss in our life. Wayman represented everything that was COOL; but with the dignity and character of a icon. Interesting though, we FIND these heroes, publically through athletics and entertainment; but NOT like this cat. Nope, because you can count on one hand any or both industries who actually produced someone so spiritual, positive, refreshing, sincere and dead on honest about his OWN negativity; so positively and you could actually believe him?
Sorry tears are in my eyes right now, I know you want me to be strong, but it's hard when you have a man like you, who has great character and morals, too know that you're just physically gone numbs me, I feel closer to you, than I do some of my own family members, that's how much your strength and courage meant to me.
You brought so much joy to others, your smile, your never give up attitude, your wonderful music. You will be sorely missed. Rest in peace as you await his return. My deepest sympathies to your family and friends.
and the lord shall wipe the tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall their be pain for those former things are passed away...............rev 20 ;4
god bless you such a wonderful guy with spirit and great heart.
What a shocker! Wayman, you were the best! He was ALWAYS positive and never let anything get him down. This place just wasn't good enough for Tizzie! We will always be proud of you Wayman and as for the rest of his family, love, prayers, love plus a little more love to you all! And from one Booker T Washington Alumni to another, I'll be "high steppin'" it up there with you eventually! I sure did want to jam with you again though! Guess I'll just have to wait now! LOVE YOU BRO! God Bless You!
Oh man, twas just yesterday i was listening to his get down on it...=/ rest in the arms of God, Wayman...one of my bass inspirations, and a great NBA forward...when you meet my father there, please tell him you influenced me...^^
Ill never forget when he mistaken me for a stage hand at the Newport Beach Jazz fest 05', and all I wanted was an autograph. We laughed...I will miss him dearly, RIP my friend, Joe L
WHAT A TESTAMENT, WHAT A STORY!!!!! Wayman Tisdale- greatness, selfless, Abassador for Christ, A SMILE BIGGER THAN THE EARTH, and a legacy of triumph over situations. God needed someone of this magnitude, and what a great person he found it in.
Look how strong this man was. Cancer never brought him down. I wish all people could have a great spirit like Wayman especially in tough situations like this. What an inspiration.
I got teary eyed watching the first few seconds now that I just heard he passed away.
Waymon, just returned from the "City Of Lights" concert in Vegas and Brother you were absolutely phenomenal. You had everyone on their feet. It was the best performance I've ever seen. Your strength, your courage and your resilience is proof that God is good all the time. Hey man one more thing; keep smiling because it's contagious, you make everyone around you smile too. Love you Brother, keep on keepin on...
God Bless you Wayman for your great attitude. It is alright and okay I know God will make everything fine, just keep praising him. I feel so blessed by your words.
Your such an uplifting Inspiring human being wayman .... looking forward to all your future projects , its time to pick up that "REBOUND" and slam that baby home ..
Wayman, Ive been out of the country for a few years and was schooling someone about the good music you make. I never thought of youtubing you. Seeing this video refreshes the thought that we must always count our blessings. I know you have strength and resilience to do whatever. I hope to see you one day performing your art. Keep the positive attitude it spreads across the globe:)
Hey Wayman. I want to thank you for your time in the NBA, the beautiful musical creations and your positive motivation, it is so inspiring to all hearing your story. I am also a left handed Bassist, I have been following you for your entire musical career, inspiration from another rare (Lefty)! My son, a 12th grader shares your former Suns #23, he is going through a tough time right now, and I'm going to utilize your story and positive spirit as a tool of motivation to keep him fighting to win!
It was so great to see you!!! Thank you for another non-stop week of fun at sea - we all had a fantastic time and are signed up again for next year. May God continue to bless you and your family. Much love & hugs, Rhonda
God Bless you my brother! You've been an inspiration for many--showing that great competitive spirit on the court, and transitioning to making music and art and not the cliche burnout story we usually get from the ex-athlete. Best Regards!
How sweet it 'Tis to see you again! Love your spirit. 48 hours from now we will have national championship #8! Go Sooners! We will splatter the Gators.
Mr. Tisdale a funny thing happened to me while I was at work on US Army training post FORT JACKSON...I was helping this family from North Carolina with a TV set carryout I am a sales tech. And what do I hear coming from there CD player the DESTINCTIVE sound of Waymon Tisdale. Live long and Prosper!!!
Bless you Man of God! My husband and I will continue to lift you up as you continue to allow the melodies from heaven flow through ya! He's the Lord of the Breakthrough...(hint, hint...an instrumental request..LOL!) Ain't no stoppin' a real jazz man and mostly a true worshipper!
I was relieved as all of us Sacramento Kings fans to see how well you are doing. You are a true role model and inspiration to all of us. May God bless you and your family.
Wayman... YOU ARE A FORCE!! Such a talented and unique person!! Loved watching you play for the Sooners and love your music, man!! Great video!! You look so good, dude!!!
Wayman you are a remarkable person and an inspiration. Your positivity is contagious, God Bless you as well. They may be able to take away a physical part of you but your soul, mind and spirit are with you always.
I just watched your story on ESPN. I knew you was a great nba player back in da days but I didn't know about that cancer episode. I now realize you are a great person, and a role model for people fighting through critical illness.
Wayman, what a amazing story this individuality has a strong God given strength! I truly applaud his will to keep going in a positive manner! Excelsior Mr. Tisdale. Be Blessed of God and keep on going!
Weeping may endure for a night, but Joy cometh in the morning! Wayman, your courage and determination has profoundly inspired me. I am going through a tough physical situation myself and when I saw you on ESPN Thanksgiving my family was shocked and hurt. But, looking at you on this video presentation, I feel better now because, "It's Alright...!" God Bless and keep playing!
WOW! Wayman! Man I didn't know you had lost your leg. Sorry to hear that. We met when you were playing at BTW in Tulsa. Joe Smith and I are very good friends and came to watch you play your Sr yr at BTW. You were an awesome player then, at OU and at Indiana. I love all of your cds. You are showing great faith and commitment. Your dad would be (and is) very proud of you.
Wayman, I met you after a Indiana Pacers game way back in the day. You have always been my favorite Pacer to date........I am envy your faith......you are an inspiration !
He left a great legacy - positive attitude - athletic talent and musical talent - and that will be remembered for years to come - and will inspire others.

Class act. I love you Wayman.
Sorry tears are in my eyes right now, I know you want me to be strong, but it's hard when you have a man like you, who has great character and morals, too know that you're just physically gone numbs me, I feel closer to you, than I do some of my own family members, that's how much your strength and courage meant to me.
