  • @BlazeIgnitus .... i know what it means.. but i'm a Junior in my High School's Wind Ensemble and we usually play grade 6 pieces that i find leaps and bounds easier than this song lol. And that's not cause i suck or anything, i'm actually 1st chair and 5th overall out of my the whole school XD

  • I play the Contrabass Clarinet for this song :)

  • really don't understand how this is grade 5 -_- its going to take me a while to get the runs at this tempo.....

  • @OreosInRamen By Grade 5 I think it means Level 5 out of 6, which is common for school band evaluations through associations such as NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association), through the MENC.

  • ALL THE BASSOON PLAYERS SAY YEAAH!

  • Real men play tuba. Just saying. One of my favorite pieces from the whole series.

  • @useless54868 CAN I GET AN AMEN?

  • I am a first trumpet/cornet player in my Symphonic band. And lets just put it this way. I'm having a real hard time playing my solo at 4:29. Who knew it would be 32nd notes.

  • @kinchly828 and this is grade 5

  • Wow. The trumpet soloist was on Crack 4:28

  • I'm an oboe player, and just got the music for this today! We played another Smith song earlier in the year, and I'm SO excited for this! I've been BEGGING my director to play this for about a year.

  • @mom0squishy Yes and these frames filled with wooden dowels.

  • did anyone else's band bring in chains to add to the percussion section?

  • @mom0squishy hahah yeah we did :)

  • Our middle school's top band had played this last year. I was in the 2nd clarinets and we won 1st in many competitions.

  • @ndogzrock no fuckin way a middle school band played this. well, played it and it sounded good.

  • @who8mahbacon No I didnt mean 5th grade! I wasn trying to type on my iphone. Still not very good at that. But I can barely play this and I'm a freshman.! :S LOLZ And I got the trumpet solo at 4:29

  • @kinchly828 i was stating that you were having trouble with 32nd notes and this is only grade 5 as in difficulty.

  • @who8mahbacon Ahhh! Wow now I feel pretty dumb :D

  • @who8mahbacon this is a grade 5 piece, there is no way a middle school band could play this.

  • the trumpet solo at 4:30 was my audition my freshman year! We then played this song for district festival and came in 2nd in our region i think!

  • By far my favorite piece my band played. Well we got it a long time ago like 6 years ago, before I was in high school, but we got it again, it's so epic. Go alto saxes!!! XD

  • CHRISTIAN WILL DENY THIS!!! LET'S REPLACE THE BIBLES WITH THE THIS BOOK

  • my friends actually think the poem is just like the video game. im kinda sad now

  • this on trumpet pretty hard learning for school. XD

  • @nerdlybeastfilms its easy i played that solo and is one of the easiest on earth

  • @MrPapayaman123 yeah when i said that that was when i first started but now yeah its pretty easy

  • No joke. Our concert band played this song at approximately the EXACT time Osama Bin Laden was killed. I've never felt so powerful in my life.

  • @Cnewthedude64 approximately exact? get that shit out of here.

  • @IamJosefFritzl1 Welcome to YouTube.

  • i love this piece!

  • i get to play the timpani part on this song for our marching band show :D

  • when my band played this the timpani player got so into it about 6 mins in one of his mallets flew up and landed in a tuba, it was epic

  • This was my favorite piece to play in all the years I was in band. <3

All the Divine Comedy pieces are great, but this one is the best.

  • @rjeso My god. That sounds amazing

  • We use English horn instead of oboe...I mean the solo at the beginning and the middle part...

  • @PrincessSerena our high school band got it too i plat the saxophone and playin the part with the chains made me all brain dead

  • @PrincessSerena our high school band got it too

  • SAX-A-BOOM!!!!

    :)

  • 並不是很欣賞這個版本的詮釋,應該可以更好,尤其是後半段重現主題前的那段過門

  • Clarinets are the best. nuff' said :P

  • What would classical music be without french horns?

  • Considering most of the solos in this piece are not clarinet... they're oboe.

  • This and the Rite of Spring have the best intros to a classical piece ever.

  • @moosekid456 the euphonioum parts legitt for this, i play it too!(:

  • lurved playing this in highschool.

  • playing this in my high school band. first oboe.

  • to me the part with the chains is kinda creepy imagine the scariest thing ever and then those chains ooh weird

  • WOW!!!! Back in my Sophomore year of high school, my band played this song. We fell in love with this song. I remember playing the Flute part on Bells with the melodic line that went really fast. and I also got to play the Timpani part once when the original person that played it got sick, so i was the only one who could play. I had fun with song and it will always be one of my favorites!!!!!!

  • Playing the whole Divine Comedy for the spring I have auxiliary percussion alone and it's an insane amount of running around

  • My high school band just got this piece today, it looks really awesome. I'm on timpani, and so completely psyched.

  • @PrincessSerena1121 You get that timpani solo, girl!! It's awesome!

  • I played this song in my high school band durring my freshman year plus the rest of Dante's Divine Comedy movement by Robert W. Smith. This is by far the scariest music I have ever played and the scariest music I have ever heard in my entire life.

  • Hell does not exist. all fiction.

  • I love the timpani and oboe parts especially :) I myself played the clarinet and this song was pretty interesting lol ohh and the trumpet solo...man shit the whole song is BEASTTTT

  • The best way to spread a religion? Fear. The inferno accomplished such a goal with ease. It is unfortunate that so many have been tricked, brainwashed, and decieved into believing such lies.

  • I love his music, the mallet parts are amazingly fun to play. It sucks though because I put sooooooooooooooooo much time and effort into learning this to get sick right before our concert. Just my luck!!!!

  • i know, right? you just can't deny the clarinet's awesomeness.

  • I play the piccolo, and the duet in the middle is fun, but I'm not liking the six-notes-in-one-beat run that we have to do in the key of D flat...
