The scale is the 5th mode of G Harmonic Minor (G A Bb C D Eb F#, G)....so from
D to D the scale would be D Eb F# G A Bb C D, or in a number formula for the scale
it would be {1..b2/b9...3...4...5...b6...b7...1}. I believe that I've also heard this scale called The Spanish Dominant Scale as well. In the song, there are a lot of "passing note" C#s as well.....C# being the major 7th of D, but not a note in the scale mentioned. BOB>
@PhoebusRose64 You could refer to that scale that way. Sometimes in music there are numerous ways that people refer to scales and chords. I always tell my students to try and be familiar with all of them so that it is easier to comminicate with everybody!!! Bob.
