I also have the 2-1/2" 5-chime, all bronze, made directly off that whistle. Your dad really made the original well! This is one SWEET sounding whistle, both on steam and on compressed air. The Hancock sounds better on air, but the aluminum bell will be damaged if blown too much!
The whistle on the left is a Hancock 4710 (Hancock 4700 without the horn). These really don't sound bad on steam. I wonder what the pressure was? I've heard that the aluminum in them won't hold up to superheated steam, but that pressure range would be ideal for them with their small inlet and narrow slit width.
Your Welcome. You Father was a true craftsman. Thanks for the reply. I would appreciate it very much if you could at your conveinence. E-mail the precise dimensions. Cut-up of mouth openings of the bells. languid plate, depth of individual bells. I Thank You once again.
Wow! Hat Homemade 2.5" Homemade 5 chime is awesome. Your Dad did a great job. Would you be willing to e-mail me the exact dimensions? I would love to make one. Thanks for your posting. Also Hancock sounded nice also.
