ne step you all could take if you all of a sudden see that you are rank 1, is to go to the Memory settings on the Xbox and delete off your Profile Save data file associated with that GamerTag( not your Campaign file). Your correct information SHOULD pull down from Live, assuming that it hasn't been uploaded to Live (which is most likely part of the bug people are experiencing)

This has happened to me but it wasn't anything to do with the host. I was legit 47 then it reset, got to around 35 again and then it reset again. Does anyone know why this happens because its just caused me to give up on Gears 2 multiplayer? I assume its a glitch/bug with the gears server or something like that

you didn't get reset by the server. Since the integer for experience is signed, when it overflows it becomes and extremely low number in the negatives which look away from your experience (-2 billion or so)

Hey man um i was playing a custom Xbox live with my older sister and a friend she was host and i was a legit level 50 about to level up to 51 but after recovering my account and then play up stairs because i got 2 consoles. anyway my rank was at 1

i leveled up to 2 to see if it would reset to normal but it did not after logging off and reseting the game it did not work ether so i recovered my account and it still says i,m level 2 is this a glitch or was i reset?

My friend was level 46 back in the days of 1x exp and he got reset and i was laughin at him shit loads. Thing is i get to level 46 and the exact same thing happens to me. Hes level 98 now and im level 72 but ive kinda realised that level 46 isnt much anyway. Id say the halfway point is somewhere in the 80s. Good job we have these special events with 25x exp now.

this will delete something i dont really know on gears and it will ask you to do an update

dont do the update go on to gears go to multiplayer

and then press the dashboard button and put connect to xbox live

then do the update

then go to multiplayer n u should be a level 1.

Wow, the exact opposite just happened to me. I played a match and I could move fine but I had 99 smoke grenades, 1099 shotgun shells, automatic shotty... By the end of the match I got level 100 and now I'm ranked top 400 in the world. I got the level achievements but, I think Epic is going to reset my rank soon... The guys gamertag is "VVVVVVVVWVVV". It can be avoided if your in a game and scoreing outrageous points, quit right away. People have hacked the game and are doing this to a bunch of people and messing up the leaderboards. EPIC is working on title update 5 to fix this.

if this happens to you, just clear your xbox's cache (look up how to do it), play a match offline and then download the updates again. your rank will be reset back to level 1 but you'll have 0 xp instead of -769587465107 or whatever
